Some grew multiple limbs, others developed tough exoskeletons or even gained the ability to harness elemental powers. They ranged from fearsome predators to docile grazers, each with its own unique adaptations.

Humanity, too, had changed. Communities huddled together in fortified settlements, eking out a living amidst the mutated wilderness. Technology had advanced in unexpected directions. One such innovation was the Mutant Analyzer, a device created by the brilliant scientist Dr. Aiden Cross. Resembling a handheld console, it could scan Radiants, revealing their stats and characteristics akin to a game-like interface.

Amidst this world, in a small settlement on the outskirts of what was once known as New York City, lived a boy named Kai. At thirteen years old, Kai was an orphan, his parents lost to the harsh realities of the mutated world. He was known as a loner, quiet and withdrawn, finding solace only in his fascination with Radiants.

Kai's small room in the orphanage was cluttered with drawings and notes about Radiants he had observed. He often escaped into the nearby ruins, where he would quietly watch these creatures from a safe distance, marveling at their adaptations. The other children in the orphanage whispered that he was cursed, blaming him for the misfortunes that befell their community.

One fateful day, tensions escalated. A food shortage exacerbated tempers, and the blame fell on Kai once again. Accused of being a harbinger of bad luck, Kai found himself chased by an angry mob of villagers. Fear and desperation fueled his legs as he ran deeper into the overgrown jungle that encroached on their settlement.

Heart pounding, Kai stumbled into a clearing. Before him stood a Radiant unlike any he had seen before. It was a towering creature, its body covered in shimmering scales that reflected the strange colors of the sky. Its eyes glowed with an otherworldly light as it regarded the boy with a mixture of curiosity and wariness.

With steady hands, Kai reached out and placed his palm on the Scalebeast's scaly snout. The creature tensed for a moment, then relaxed under his touch. It was the beginning of a partnership forged in the crucible of survival—a bond that would defy the odds and shape the destiny of both boy and Radiant.

As the sun dipped below the mutated horizon, casting eerie shadows over the jungle, Kai and the Scalebeast stood together, their fierce staredown now softened into a mutual respect. The boy who had been driven to the brink of death by his own kind had found his first companion in this new world—a world where the line between human and Radiant blurred, and where courage and perseverance were the keys to survival.

And so began Kai's journey—a journey not just to become a champion Radiant battler, but to discover his place in a world forever changed.
