Modus Operandi 1

She paced up and down. She was restless and her mind was fully blank on whatever was going on. She tried to listen to her feelings but their were no avail in instinct based feelings or gut feelings just her and a board filled with gruesome pictures of women covered in scarlet red blood. But even after three hours of thinking she simply could not give up. She knew she was missing something, but what? What exactly was she missing in the board in front of her?

"You can stop looking at them now... it doesn't help... it's a dead end case, Lisa," her partner Andrews said as he came in the room with his hands full of reports he was expected to submit that day. He dropped the files on his desk which was adjacent to Lisa's desk as he looked at Lisa with deep concern. Lisa was still deep in thought as she looked at the pictures in front of her. Andrews sighed and walked slowly towards Lisa with his hands curled up in little fists.

"Lisa... Please... let's move on shall we? We still have the Amsterdam thief and the Mongolia case to submit their reports by the end of the day," Andrews urged Lisa with great desperation in his tone.

Lisa tried to fathom whatever Andrews was saying but it simply impossible of her to let go the case. That case was an aberration to humanity itself. It was cruel to every human being on the planet so how could she let it go and move on. Amidst the convincing and the negligence, the chief of police walked in.

His face so stern and void of any emotions. His frown could be seen from a mile away. He had a number of people following him like flies wherever he went. As he walked in, he did not stop to look at the messy office, he did not talk to anyone, he simply walked straight to Lisa's team and started shouting on the top of his lungs.

"LISAAA! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING RIGHT NOW? I THOUGHT I MADE MYSELF CLEAR WHEN I SAID THE CASE FILES WERE TO BE SUBMITTED TODAY. THERE IS NO SERIAL KILLER ON THE LOOSE. PEOPLE MURDER EVERYDAY AND THESE MURDERS ARE JUST COPYCAT MURDERS FROM THE PAST. SO PACK UP OR AM GONNA MAKE SURE YOU GET TRANSFERRED TO THE COUNTRY SIDE OR TO THE TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT!!"

The Chief of police, Mr. Stones, was a man with intense anger issues. The detectives of the Washington Precinct always called him a goat. That's because he was very similar to a goat. His white beard, his constant yelling and annoying chewing, and always followed politicians around. His detectives suspected he was receiving bribes, but after he shut down the "Scarlet Serial Murders" people were certain that he was receiving bribes from officials.

The Scarlet Serial Murders was a case which shocked the public to the core. A case which made people fear their lives in Washington DC, a case which exhibited rare cuts and heart breaking realization. Women were murdered every 11 days and the killer left no evidence, not a single strand of hair, not a single cell and not even DNA. The killer grotesquely murdered his victims and cut of their limbs, then transported the carcass to a park where Scarlet stiletto's and gloves were kept where the limbs were supposed to be.

After two serial killings Lisa realized that the work done to these women was done by a serial killer. But the higher ups pressured her to close off the case due to lack of evidence. Lisa wanted to listen and obey her higher ups, but she also realized that since the serial killer killed only twice, the murderer was much likely to murder again soon.
