Danzo's Misery
Danzo was having a really good time as of late. With Orochimaru's help, he had successfully implanted Hashirama cells into his body and also implanted a few Sharingans into the arm made of Hashirama cells.
With the war over and the deaths of the Fourth Hokage and Sakumo. It seems like his path to becoming Hokage is becoming clearer and clearer. Jiraiya has no interest in taking the position, Tsunade has become a useless shinobi with the fear of blood and Orochimaru has defected. There is no one anymore who can stand in his way to being Hokage.
Now Danzo has been setting his eyes on the Kyuubi Jinchuriki. He really wanted to recruit the monster and make him into a loyal soldier of his. But like all good things, it requires time. Danzo was quite confident that he can make the kid fall to the deepest pits of despair before he can scoop in with a helping hand and turn him into a loyal puppet for the village/him. Then to deal with the despicable Uchiha Clan. They are a liability to the village, the only useful thing about them are their eyes. After killing every last one of them, he would pluck them all and use them to further his plans.
'Things are all going to plan. If only that damn Hiruzen wasn't so soft. Why the hell are we signing a peace treaty with Kumo? We had them on the ropes at the end of the war but like a coward he decided to just let things be and propagate peace. Now, I have to divert some resources to monitor those Kumo scum who are inside the village.'
As Danzo was sulking in his office and planning his next nefarious plan, a Root agent comes up to him and informs him that Hiruzen is in the building and is looking for him.
Danzo frowned upon finding that Hiruzen had come to his headquarters and it only got worse when he noticed that Hiruzen is standing next to the boy with the Wood Release Kekkei Genkai.
"What's the meaning of this, Hiruzen" – Danzo barks at Hiruzen, feeling something not right
"I'm here to take this child from you. He will be serving directly under me in the Anbu from now on." – Hiruzen
"Preposterous. I have been grooming him to be an asset for the village for a long time. What do you mean by you're taking him?" – Danzo yells
"Just like I said. He is a child capable of using Mokuton. I can't allow for him to become an emotionless puppet like the rest of your subordinates." – Hiruzen replies coldly
"Don't you dare criticize my methods Hiruzen? Everything I do is for the village." – Danzo seethes is rage
"I know. But, this and that are different. I want this child to be in the light. I don't want him to be corrupted by the darkness. Won't you give him to me Danzo?" – Hiruzen asks releasing some pressure with his Peak Kage level chakra
"Fine. Do as you please." – Danzo grits his teeth and complies
"Also, stop sending your puppets to spy on my office." – Hiruzen warns Danzo
"Tsk. Whatever. How did you find out about the boy?" – Danzo
"Let's just say you're not the only one who can send spies to gain information." – Hiruzen smirks at Danzo
"That's impossible. No one who knows of the boy could possibly betray me. So tell me how did you really find out?" – Danzo asks confidently
"Hehe. You think too highly of the seals that you've placed on them. If you weren't so over confident you would have noticed that one of them broke free of it and has reported to me about what you've been doing." – Hiruzen says with a dangerous glint in his eyes and also letting out a bit of killing intent at Danzo.
Danzo is now sweating bullets. The only reason he was openly opposing Hiruzen was because he was turning soft but he knows very well that when it comes to strength he'd be hard pressed to fight against Hiruzen. Even if he is willing to show his trump cards the Mangekyou and the Hashirama cells. He still isn't confident about his chances with besting Hiruzen in battle.
But what is really concerning for Danzo is what Hiruzen said about someone breaking the seal and betraying him. If that wasn't enough he doesn't even know who it is and what he reported. If Hiruzen were to find out about all the dark dealings that he has had with Orochimaru and about his part in the experiments. He is damn sure to be in big trouble.
"Nonsense. I have done nothing that is bad for the village. And as for whoever that person. I'll deal with him later. Now, I have other things to deal with." – Danzo says and walks away.
Hiruzen says nothing, he just looks towards where his old teammate left to. It was a bluff from Hiruzen to see if Danzo was up to no good. Seeing that he didn't get anything out of Danzo, he decided to give Danzo the benefit of the doubt and leave from Root HQ with Tenzo.
Danzo on the other hand was fuming. He not only lost a wood release user, his spy in the Hiruzen's office was also found out and if that wasn't enough he now had deal with a traitor among his subordinates. Although Hiruzen did not say anything about knowing his dirty secrets, Danzo cannot take the risk of Hiruzen taking action towards him. Danzo knows well that if what he has been doing is brought to light, he'll not only lose his post as Elder, he'll be named a traitor to the village.
Danzo quickly gets back to his office and gives an order for every Root agent to be brought back. He first needs to get to the bottom of this. Before long, every root member with access to sensitive information is in front of him. Everyone but one. Danzo asks about the whereabouts of the Jonin and nobody seems to know anything after he left Root HQ earlier tonight. He proceeds to check if the seals on every one is functioning properly. Seeing no problem there, Danzo concludes that the perpetrator has to be the Jonin who didn't respond to his summons.
Danzo sends out his agents to scour through Konoha to find the Jonin. He tasked the others to find out if anything was stolen.
Before long, he received a report with details on the number of scrolls that were stolen and replaced with empty scrolls. Danzo grows even more enraged. He storms into the room to check for himself what was stolen and to his dismay, several scrolls containing incriminating evidence of his foul play against the other major villages were stolen.
And to top that off, all the storage scrolls were also stolen. Sharingans, Byakugan, Hashirama Cells, Weapons, Armors. Everything of value was swiped clean. And to make matters worse even the copy of the Scroll of Seals has disappeared.
Remembering that the Scroll of Seals had a tracking marker placed on it he quickly activates it in order trace and find the traitor. But to his dismay even that doesn't work. The Tracking seal should work within a radius of approximately a hundred kilometers. If it isn't within this radius it means that the traitor has already fled.
Danzo feels his world crumbling down on him. All his ambitions now may lay in tatters. If all this information is already in Hiruzen's hand, he would have taken action on him. But, if this falls into the hands of enemy villages, it'd be even worse. He will definitely be branded a traitor. He won't even be able to save his life.
Danzo quickly calls back all his subordinates and tells everyone to lay low for the foreseeable future. He cannot take any chances. He makes preparations to shift HQ and cancels all of his ongoing schemes against Naruto and the Uchihas until he is certain that none of this information has fallen into the wrong hands.
Danzo finally walks back into his office and screams in rage wondering where things all went wrong for him.
Meanwhile, the perpetrator for Danzo's misery is coolly browsing through his system store looking for a suitable gift to give Hinata, not giving a fuck about the misery he has put on a sewer rat.
