CHAPTER THREE - Break In

Ariana's POV

My father: "Are you aware that your apartment was broken into" my father continues to. bark at me.

Me: "No!" I said, because in all honesty, the security didn't say anything about that.

"My Father: "You left your door open. How could you be so irresponsible" my father shouts.

Me: "The security called to find out if I was in the building and when I told him I'm not, he said it's nothing and hung up. Now why didn't he say something. it's sounded like the people in the background was trying to get away then. Do you think he's in cohorts with the thieves" I asked.

"My father: " What do you mean?" he asks his tone softer.

Me: "I'm calling the cops, I believe the security knows who were in my apartment" I goaded him.

My father: "Leave it at that. Nothing was stolen, nobody's hurt" he advises.

Me: "Then why were you so angry, if nothing was stolen and no one was hurt. That doesn't make sense" I said

My father: "Leave it" he said and he hung up.

"Okay" I muttered.

I started eating again without looking at the person opposite me.

"Something is off, would you like to tell me or do I get Kyle to tell me" Cole asks.

Frowning with raised eyebrows, wondering what business it is of him. I was nothing to him for the past five years, why would he now?

Lowering my eyes to my already empty plate, I poured another glass of beer, and started drinking again.

Signaling the waitress because it's time for me to leave to find a hotel for the weekend.

My phone started ringing again and this time I answered because it's my grandfather.

Me: "grandpa" I answered

Grandpa: "Sweetheart what happened and

where are you?" he asks

Me: "I'm having a early dinner and I fine" I say

Grandpa: "Your father called. Should I be worried?" he ask

Me: "No grandpa. Apparently there was a break in at my apartment so I'm going to find a hotel for the weekend. I'm scared to stay alone" I tell him.

Grandpa: Call me when you find a hotel and I'll pay for the best" grandpa says.

Me: Giggling, " I will and I love you" I tell him.

Grandpa: "I love you" he says hanging up.

After hanging up I looked at Cole, "What?" I asked

"You can stay at my apartment, I have a lot of extra rooms" Cole offers.

"No thank you" I refuse, turning to the waitress who came back to my table.

"Hi, I smiled brightly, can I have the bill please?" I requested.

"Yes ma'am, would that be one bill or separate bills?" the waitress asked.

"One" I answered, watching the smirk on Cole's lips.

Nodding the waitress left to get my bill.

"So, my brother is engaged to be married to you but you are not his fiance. Your apartment was broken into and doesn't seem to be bothering you but you are afraid to return to your apartment." Cole observes.

Giggling, "yep" I said pointing at him.

Shaking his head, "You're either going to stay with me, or I'm taking you to your father's." Cole threatens me.

I can't go to my father's because they all hate me, but so does the Simmons.

" Why?" I shrug.

His eyes flickered with so many different emotions passing through it, until he settles with a cold hard glare.

"Take it or leave it" he says, taking out his phone, sliding it open

Sceptical, "you aren't really trying to call my father, are you?" I wondered

Showing me the number on his phone, already dialed up, waiting to send.

'Huh," I said shaking my head.

Shrugging, he press send

Not expecting that, "hey, wait, please don't" I pleaded quickly and softy.

He immediately cut the call.

"Why would you care? You hate me and so does your brother" I tell him, sadly. "All I want is to be left alone" I added, reaching for my handbag as I saw the waitress approaching.

Shock was definitely evident in his face as his eyes does the flicker, where he changes his emotions.

Frowning, "for what it's worth I've felt different things for you but hate was never one of them" Cole says softly as his eyes pleads for me to believe him.

The waitress puts the bill on the table, I put my put my card, giving it to her.

I resigned myself that I was going to his apartment, so I poured the remaining beer from the pitcher into my glass. Did I drink most of it? I think I did.

He watches me in amusement, "waste not, want not" I quoted for him, chugging down the drink.

By the time the waitress, returned, I give her a hefty tip,

"I'm sorry, but this is too much" she refuses the tip, pushing it gently back to me.

Pushing it quickly back to her, "Merry Christmas" I said softly, smiling.

Looking between Cole and I in surprise, "Thank you" she said.

Waving his hangs in front his chest, "oh it's not me, it's all hers," he said, proudly.

"it's from the both of us" I say ad she thanks us once again before walking away.

Standing up Cole moved to help me, "I'm good thanks" I told him, as I slowly tried to steady myself, chuckling.

Putting out his hand, "keys"

"No" I said, but dug around inside my bag, taking it out and handing it over to him reluctantly.

Giggling as we walk out together, "you're my designated driver" I declared. "I'm sorry though." I apologize.

Pressing my car alarm, we walk yo where my car was parked, without me even saying which vehicle was mines.

Just remembering the phones and wallets under my car seat, but I also have to explain my pillowcase packed with clothes. How do I explain all of this?

"Uhem, you can drop me at a hotel," I requested.
