CHAPTER 33 Having a Ball 4

Simon sloped off, as I could feel the tension drift away in Dawson’s arm that I was holding onto. Feeling the adrenaline wear off in my own body, it suddenly dawned on me what could have happened, had Dawson not seen what was occurring.

“Thank you so much for intervening,” I spoke, feeling a little shaken up.

“No worries. I can’t believe him. Are you okay?” he asked, holding me lightly by the side of my arms and ducking his head down to meet my eyeline.

“Thanks to you, I’m fine.” I sighed, giving him a light smile.

“Good. Come on, let’s go and get a drink.”

For the second time tonight, I was led to the bar to seek some alcoholic sustenance, this time for a very different reason. I had been right about Simon being a total sleaze, and about him thinking that he could do what he liked. I dreaded to think what he would’ve done if Dawson hadn’t shown up, and I was incredibly grateful to him for saving me – again.
