Reece's anger was reaching a fever pitch. He was stalking closer to me as if he meant to attack me. And part of me wanted to let him do it. I deserved to be punished for having ever come into Talia's life. I never should have left the Underworld in the first place. I needed to pay for what I'd done, and my blood was the only thing I could think to compensate with.

However, I knew instinct would keep me from letting the man just hit me. If he was good enough, fast enough, he could pummel me to his heart's content, and I would do nothing to stop him. I'd evade him, but I wouldn't fight against him. It was the right thing to do.

Then again, I might not just let him hit me all he wanted. If he remained in his human form, I might have done just that. However, he was changing, shifting, into something that was more monster than even I appeared to be.
