260 Chapter 14- Lex – Strange Birthday Part 4 Volume 3

I awoke early this morning, same as I always do. My typical routine was to retire to my room after Talia was in her room for the night. I tried to stay awake until she fell asleep, but that wasn't always possible. She was the type to stay up late because of her magic and the ghosts. She often couldn't get much peace.

Oddly, Talia had gone to sleep at a decent time last night. Perhaps she had been excited for her birthday. Whatever the reason, I knew she would wake earlier, and more refreshed, than usual. And that made what happened this morning all that much more distressing.

I'd awoken with a knowledge of something that shouldn't be. There was something, a scent, in the air that should never have come into existence. What was the universe thinking when it did this? Why would they do this to her? What were the Gods and the Fates thinking?
