My birthday with the family was bound to be a big and special one, even though it was just the immediate family celebrating with me. Well, them and the friends who refused to stay away. About five minutes after breakfast, having some preternatural ability to sense these things, Sereia, Storm, Saylor, and Ada were walking into the living room of the tower and grinning at me. 

"You are not getting away from us that easily." Saylor grinned at me. "It's your birthday, and as self-proclaimed members of your immediate family, and real members of the family where Sereia is concerned, we're here to celebrate with you." I couldn't suppress the grin that spread across my face when he made his declaration.
