Chosen For You

I'm Kade and I'm turning seventeen soon. On my birthday I get to take a personality test that determines whether I'll become a vampire, werewolf, or stay human. After that I get to meet other people which I've never done. I'm not sure why they keep us separated. I don't have a mother or a father. I know how a child is made though. Where are my parents? What happened? I don't know how I'm here. I wonder what it's like outside of all the white walls? I wonder why they keep us separated? I wonder who I truly am?

Chapter 14

Kade's Pov:

It's been a week now. The longer we're trapped the more likely we are to get killed. At least that's what I think because of the sounds and amount of blood I hear in this unit. I think they're testing on us. I found little spots where I had been poked all over my arms. I don't know where they took Jax. Are they going do to tests on him too? Are they going to kill him? He could be dead. Oh, God. He might be gone...

I sit on the cold floor and stare at the little light that shines through my window. I hear footsteps. A lot of footsteps. What's going on now? The little light disappears and the door slides open. There's a woman. She's blonde, has glasses, and is wearing a lab coat. She gives off a more assertive aura than anyone else who's come to see me. Well, I could count Jax but he's only that way to others but not to me.

"Hello, Kade. I've heard interesting things about you and your Chosen." She smiles at me but it is creepy, not warm. I try to stand but im too weak. "Ugh damn it. What do you want from me, lady?" She laughs at my attempt to stand. "I think you should return to the dorms. I find it fascinating what you two boys come up with. But you'll be alone and you have a new supervisor." She laughs again but covers her mouth. "So let's get you home."

Return? Why? What did I do? Who is she? She stares at me for a minute then leaves my room. Dang, I didn't get her name. Another woman enters with a chair with wheels. "Hi, Kade," she flashes her pearly white teeth at me, "I'm Liv." She grabs my hand and helps me into the chair. "What happened to Amy?" Liv begins to push the chair out of the room." She coughs at my question, "She was... Um, fired. Yes, she was fired. She no longer works here." This lady is a horrible liar. Something happened to Amy. But I can't focus on that right bow. "Oh, ok. But why was she fired?" The hallway's color begins to be white as we walk. "It's because of you and your Chosen."

We don't talk after that. I know she's lying but I'm not sure I should press her. We walk for a while until we come to the dormitory. We arrive at my old home. I reach my hand out to unlock the door and she pushes me in. "I'll get you some blood so you can regain your strength, ok?" She leaves me in front of the tv and goes to the fridge. "Ok. Who was that woman? The blonde one with the glasses."

Liv comes back over with a bag of blood. "Oh, you mean Ms. Nanji. She's our... Um, she's the director. She can be a little kooky sometimes but she's actually an extremely intelligent person." Liv plops down onto the couch. "So, your Chosen is Jade, Jamie, or is it, Jackson?" She puzzles. "It's Jaxson but with an x." I take a sip of the blood. "Well, that's a pretty nifty name. Yours is too. Kade. It's quite unique. I like it." "Um thank you. I'd like to know why my parents picked it. But I have no idea who they are." "Hehe, you're not the only one." She leans back on the couch.

"What do you mean?" I ask. "I don't think anybody here knows their parents. Maybe Ms. Nanji does. She's the only person who wasn't raised here. Did you know that?" I shake my head no. "Maybe we'll find out someday." She smiles to herself. She's full of hope. I can tell. "Oh did you know you boys are a very popular conversation piece with us humans? It's fascinating." She giggles a little.

I look over at her. She casually tucks her curly red hair behind her ear. "What do you mean 'fascinating'?" She looks at me, "Oh, I mean you two are the most troublesome people we've dealt with, so it's kinda interesting." She grabs the remote and turns on the tv. This girl is sorta dumb. Makes my life easier at least.

After the blood is gone I feel my strength coming back. I proceed to stand up. Omg, my legs feel like jelly. Haha. That's weird. I walk over to my room. I put my hand on the scanner. It's cold. The door slides open. Man, I haven't been here forever.

I sigh as I flop onto my bed. What to do?  Wait? Wasn't Jax with Jason? Maybe we can do something? Maybe. But did he get caught like Jax did? I'll look for him tomorrow morning. We have to escape it's the only option we have. We will leave. Soon.
