160 Children of Mana, Part Forty-Three

The sun's golden rays bathed the abandoned village in a warm glow as Lianna, Enverna, and Miss Taylor kept watch, their senses alert for any signs of movement.

Despite the eerie silence, tension hung heavy in the air, a palpable undercurrent beneath their quiet vigil.

Lianna's mind raced with thoughts and speculations, her gaze occasionally flicking towards the horizon as if expecting trouble to materialize from thin air.

[What's Jack planning?] She mused, her eyes looking around for the 100th time as if an enemy would finally appear. [Shouldn't we have been attacked by now?]

"I don't like this at all," Lianna murmured.

Enverna's jaw tightened, her eyes narrowing as she scanned the surroundings once more.

"He's got something up his sleeve," she growled, the smoldering embers of anger from earlier threatening to ignite anew. "But, it doesn't matter. We'll end him one way or another."
