Toblerone

A woman was tickling the neck and ears of a kitten, constantly giggling at its adorable gestures. The actions of the kitten were very cute which made the woman pat and stroke it lovingly.

"It is very cute right?"

She asked the man who was quietly guarding and protecting her from the side all the while.

He nodded agreeing with her. The woman turned her attention back to the cat continuing to tease it.

But the fact that his expressions resembled that of hers while she petted the cat was hidden from her. He looked at her with the same loving and caring look which she gave the little kitten.

An outsider would presume that he was in love with her watching the scene before them.

The scene changed into one of a war ground.

The same woman lay in the man's arms while the lightning and thunder struck. The man roared in rage, wailing at the same time.

Unlike the previous scene, both of them were seriously injured and in very bad condition.

"Wake up Amara!! Don't die!!!" he shouted at the top of his lungs.

----------------------- Rin woke up abruptly, gasping out of breath and sweating.

She quickly calmed herself by breathing in and out. She drank some water and checked the time.

'It was 2:35 AM.'

After putting her phone back to the side table she laid back on the bed closing her eyes tightly and completely covering herself with the blanket.

The same set of dreams have been plaguing her for more than two weeks.

In the beginning, she thought it was due to hectic schedules and exhaustion. She already had insomnia so she thought it might be something normal.

But very soon she realized she was seeing the same set of dreams over and over again. Things began to get worse when she realized she started seeing things in the daytime too.

Now Rin knew that this was not some normal dream or effects of insomnia.

She was seeing hallucinations, but they were the same as that of her dreams. As a Psychology student, she quite knew the theory and working of dreams.

Sigmund Freud's theory of dreams suggests that dreams represent unconscious desires, thoughts, wish fulfillment, and motivations. According to Freud, people are driven by repressed and unconscious longings, such as aggressive and sexual instincts.

Forget about longings and unconscious desires, the people in her dreams were not even of this era and more specifically she herself was not in her dreams!!! She felt that she was watching someone else's memory, like watching a movie.

But the emotions in the dreams and hallucinations affected her. She could feel their emotions and this seriously impacted her dailylife.

She had tried contacting her cousin who was currently in search of some long-lost medical tribe but she couldn't reach him.

Sighing she made a decision, this could no longer be tolerated!!

Rin decided that she would consult Prof. Wayne after the class in the afternoon. She ruffled her bedraggled hair making it messier than it was and screamed into the pillows.

Later that day in the morning. The campus was filled with noisy and chattering students who was catching up with the daily schedules.

Students who had free hour were hanging out in the lounge room. A bunch of them scattered in the large area lounging here and there. Chattering noises, Guitar strumming, gossips and singing could be heard.

In a lone corner a girl with her hoodie up was slouched over the couch dozing off.

"Wakey wakey up baby girl!! Its time to rise up and shine brightly like the sun."

An annoyingly familiar voice woke up Rin from her nap successfully irritating her. Her blood shot eyes suddenly glared at Logan shutting him off. Leyla who was following Logan looked concerned at Rin's condition.

"You look ugly!" Leyla stated with concern.

"Gee! Thanks for the compliment." Rin shot back sarcastically.

Rin with her tired listless eyes and sleepy countenance leaned backwards on the couch, exhaustion clear on her face. People could feel the fatigueness sweeping through just by watching her.

Leyla and Logan were shocked at her countenance. It must be getting really tough for her they thought.

Rin dozed off again before Leyla woke her up for the next class.

Rin dragged herself to the next class. She herself didn't know how she managed to sit in for the 2 hour class without passing out.

After the class she headed straight to Prof. Wayne's room. She knocked on the door.

The sudden knock interrupted the Professor's concentration.

"Get in!" he ordered feeling a bit annoyed.

But all the traces of annoyance dissapeared when he saw Rin and her tiresome self. He was surprised to see the originally beautiful and pretty girl look like a wilted flower.

"Why the hell do you look like that?! I am sure the college schedules are not that hectic."

Talay Wayne stated adjusting his glasses while scanning the zombie-like girl in front of her.

"Partial Insomnia since I was 10, plus frequently recurring dreams and hallucinations that started a few weeks back. The dreams were okay. But, the hallucinations are unbearable and so realistic that its disrupting my regular life. Now all these together is seriously burning my body and brain making me go crazy!!" Rin answered in one breath incoherently.

Wayne glanced at her seriously before instructing her to get some sleep from the sick room and reminding that they could talk later. With the help of his assistant Rin walked to the sick room and passed out like a log the moment her head hit the pillow.

The nurse covered her with a blanket, closed the blindings and set the temperature so that she could sleep comfortably. She also injected an IV fluid under the Professor's orders.

Back in his office Wayne called Asher.

The phone rang for a bit before a husky voice answered.

"If you speak any nonsense I'll hang up!"

"Your Girlfriend is sick!"

"What?! Is Rin sick? What's wrong with her? Is she alright?!!"

Asher's tone changed dramatically. Wayne felt increduluos, so in his eyes he was not important as that girl.

'The years of friendship was for vain 'he thought.

"Nothing serious! she is just overexhausted and looks like a zombie. So don't worry your girlfriend won't die."

"She is not my girlfriend." Asher denied.

"Yeah and I am Madonna." Wayne sneered in sarcasm.

"By the way, What is happening there? Did you guys find anything new?"

Asher and his gang had left a week ago to investigate the unstable energy leaks of the Neylan stone which has been occurring more frequently. So the elders at the organization had called them back.

"Nothing new, but Master says its Owner is awake and would soon reclaim it. So you can expect great turbulence very soon in our Ancient city." Asher answered gravely.

"How exciting!!! A storm is beginning to brew." Wayne remarked excitedly.

Mystic Palace, Ancient City

A man deep in thousands of years of cultivation suddenly opened his eyes.

"Goddess is finally waking up!!" he remarked with a joyous look on his face.

He got up from his loft before walking to the windows and gazed outside as his sight transcended until it reached Aslan University.

"Aslan University, Valen City." he murmured before the corners of his mouth shifted into a smile.
