Headache

Karl took his phone again to call Isime but he stopped himself. If Isime asked him not to bother going to pick her, then she must have a good reason. He cannot over think things he concluded in his mind as he made his way to the party. "Henry your cousin will be there too, you must come and let people see who the true heir of the Donald family is" his mum's words resounded in his head. Karl hated public appearances and the last person he wishes to see was Henry. It is not because he had anything in particular against him but he wasn't in the mood to play his competitive game. The two of them used to be in a good relationship until Karl traveled abroad for his first degree. What changed while Karl was away that brought about Henry's new behaviour, Karl could not tell. Karl did not see any reason to want to prove himself. He wanted to be able to live a quiet life but he also understood the need to keep appearances as the grandson of a prominent family as his.

If he had an elder brother, he might have gotten his dream life but he was the only son. He had known for a long time that it was impossible, so he wanted to enjoy his youth before he had to take up the huge responsibility.

But now things were different :he had to stay back because of his love. He arrived at the venue and packed his car, before heading into the party. When he arrived he realized that the party had started for a while, it took him a lot of time to turn from the traffic.

Karl looked at the crowd in front of him, he realized it would be too difficult to find his parents, so he decided to send his mum a message.

He just brought out his phone to call when he felt a tap on his shoulder. "my good cousin ," he heard the familiar voice of his cousin.

"Henry," Karl called out. He did not look surprised, instead he seemed to have the same arrogant around him. He did not seem bother by his remark a bit.

Henry hated this look the most, he aways felt that Karl always acted superior to him. "I see you came late as usual : I thought by now you would have gained some maturity and know how important it is to keep time" Henry said sarcastically with a mockery smile in his face. "And I see it is still the same old you 'who doesn't know how to mind his business"Karl said and tried to turned to leave. He felt irritated by Henry's behaviour. He was hoping that the two of them would get along well in the party but seeing his first approach, Karl was disappointed.

"Not so fast cousin,Why don't you stay around a bit so that we can chat like the old time or do you want to go and look for your mummy? :dear mummy's boy.Henry said with a mockery smile on his face. Karl wanted to say something but he swallowed back. He just looked at Henry with disappointment but Henry on the other hand felt proud of himself as he saw that Karl could not say anything.

" I heard you got a job in the company as... As an assistant in the survelence department haha. I also heard you were scolded by your boss for going late the other day," Henry laughed. If one was watching the two from afar, you will think they were two friends having a good time together. Henry moved closer to tap Karl on his shoulder

"Guess who organised a meeting with the major stakeholders last weekend? me of course. Are you surprised? I guess not. I understand why you have to tell your dad that you wanted to start as a junior worker in the organisation. You don't want to disappoint your dear parents because you lack the capacity to head a department need less to say the entire company. If you ever need an advise from a superior any day, you know you can count on me right?" Henry bragged.

Karl shook his head with disbelieve and walked away without saying a word. "what was the point of wasting his saliva on Henry. It was obvious his cousin had not changed a bit or maybe he is even worse off. He is still that competitive Henry he has known him to be. Thinking about Henry's behaviour, Karl could only sigh. His mother was not wrong after all. "The Donald empire cannot be entrusted to Henry" such a competitive person would only ruin the company.

Karl remember he was about calling his mother when Henry intersected him. As he raised his head to look around the audience Just after dialing his mother's number, he saw his mum right opposite where he was so Karl ended the call and went over to meet her. "Mum," Karl called out to her when he was close. His father was also there with other couples. They were seated around a large table. It was when Karl got to his parents that he noticed Mr Sylvester was also there with his wife and daughter 'Irene. Karl instantly felt a side of his headache.

' He should not have come to the party, ' he regretted his decision. "you are finally here," Freda was happy to see her son, she felt that he was using traffic as an excuse and would not show up.

Karl nodded his head, then he turned and acknowledged the Sylvester's family. Irene was a bit guilty when she saw him. She could not help think of the incident with Kevin.

"Irene," Mrs Sylvester felt the need to remind her daughter when she saw her acting distracted.

Irene came back to her senses, "Karl," she got up to walk over to him. Karl felt his head ache more, 'can I tell her to stay put?" Karl thought.
