1 The System.

They called me Zero, because that was all I was. I wasn't gifted in any specific field, I didn't have a high level of intelligence and the one true skill I had was to see the world for what it was and not what I wanted it to be. I knew what I could and couldn't do, I knew my limits and where they stood. I did a lot of nasty jobs and while not being proud of it I'm also not ashamed. I made a living… nothing more, nothing less.

'I died with regrets like every other human so why am I the one standing here?'

A blue screen hovering in front of me and the first thing I tried to do was sleep. That was when I noticed I couldn't close my eyes, the reason being I didn't have them… or more exactly I didn't have a body. After waiting for a while I figured I might as well think about moving forward with this.

'Seems like I don't have a choice in the matter.'

As I thought about pressing the button it disappeared and a voice entered my mind.

System: "Host has access to the system. Please create a body and continue towards selecting a world. The first world is free. Afterwards points will be required to advance on to another world."

'Will I have anything to rely on when I arrive to said world? Will I have the option to buy stuff from the system, do I have 'Gamer's Mind' or 'Gamer's Body'?'

System: "I am only responsible for getting you there, but you get to keep your memories. You will have no identity, a normal civilian, how you gain power is up to you. Alternatively you can just live there until you die, there is no store function and no status. 'Gamers Mind' and 'Gamers Body' are not available."

'Ha…hahahahaha, in the end you are just telling me to die. No matter how they glorify it fictional worlds are anything but actually beautiful. After all they come from a human mind… there is nothing more terrifying than that.'

Things only go well for the protagonist, everyone is expendable so they can progress the correct way.

'In the end choosing a quiet world will be no different from the life I already lived… but choosing the correct one may give me access to the power I need to survive. There is only one world where I can gain 'everything' in exchange for 1 thing… 1 small thing, one thing that is insignificant to me.'

I would have to make a deal, to take a leap of faith but I would succeed… by any means necessary.

'System is there a limit to the world I can choose?'

System: "Not really, just keep in mind you will be a normal human."

'And just like that my dreams would have been crushed… but not now that I have a clear idea on where to go and what to achieve.'

'How do I gather points to travel?'

System: "1 point is equal to 10 lives. Low level world require less points than high level ones."

'Sure but they are also more dangerous. A ruthless system, while I do complain it's already much more than what many have. Just being gie the possibility to travel to other worlds makes it an indispensable tool in my eyes.'

That was what the system was. A simple key, how somebody uses it is up to them. You can open a world of treasures… or your own grave.

That being said if I think it through I could go to world like Naruto, Dragonball or Onepiece, but I am likely to just die as a normal person without being able to gather any power. The system has already helped me by letting me choose where to go.

'Now what to ask for once I get there? I only have 1 chance so it will have to be something useful… something I cannot get any other way, something impossible to achieve by even some self-proclaimed Gods… Evolution.

[A.N: We all know what it is and I've thought of a way to make him get it legitimately.]

I have a clear idea in my head… I just have to make sure I don't get distracted and keep the image clear, specific and more importantly emphasize its main feature.

'Very well, I have a good idea on where to go and what to get. The rest lays in my own skill, knowledge and luck.'

'Now to create a body… as it is one of the limited features I have to make it good right? After all deception is the main tool of humans. It is probably higher than even intelligence. What I need is someone that looks righteous, friendly, someone towards whom people will lower their guard.'

And soon I was finished, a 1.8 meter tall figure, lightly exercised physique, light blond hair, blue eyes and everything a good guy would look like. A typical main character in a game. The body frame provided a gentle and slightly dependable feeling. The face was a typical pretty boy that provided a sense of warmth and security. Somebody people would believe.

It isn't hard to predict people's actions. There is not much difference between smart and stupid if you think about it. You just need to figure out their objective. Most seek power to complete their objective, be it through knowledge or in a more direct fashion it's the same. The problem are those special few who don't necessarily want power. The one who figures out the goal of the other parties becomes able to set the board as he sees fit.

I know most of the parties, I know their goals and using that I'll have all of them become my chess pieces.

'System I have decided on the body and the world. Can you transport me now?'

System: "Affirmative!"

'Then, isn't it about time to see if whether my so called plan will succeed or not. Take me to the world of Gleipnir.'

'Target is set. One shot, it's all I got… either I hit bullseye or I completely miss.'
