Angel Of Death

Azrael stared at the skeleton monster and how it descended. It was not really graceful.

It just simply fell down heavily with its body whirling up a lot of dust when it came into contact with the ground.

What was more surprising was the actual speed that is utilized in that action.

'You got to be kidding. How can that huge thing be that fast!?'

Azrael nearly thought that he would die just at that moment but the monster only stared him down.

Its boney free hand that was not holding its weapon slowly reached towards the gigantic monster core that was left from the goliath.

When it had it in its grasp the dark mist coiled itself like a snake and the core became black. It started to shrink and turned into the mist itself.

That mist traveled towards the chest area of the skeleton. Shortly after a bright green round jewel appeared in its location and started to burn like the flames in its eyes.

Azrael could now feel it. The mana in the surrounding was collecting itself around that bastard. This was definitely a bad sign.

And if that was not enough it finally took its scythe into both hands, swinging it vertically at him.

Azrael could just barely dodge to the side with all his power focused on his legs.

His eyes could only widen as the next thing that happened was the ground splitting open and like glass, it shattered everywhere.

He could not even land on ground and was sent flying down into the pit that was created.

At first, he thought he would be buried alive but then he saw something else. When he fell he could see something surprising.

There was another ground below him! He could already see trees and other stuff underneath him.

There was only one reason for that. And that being, that the monster actually smashed a whole floor and sent everything down to the next floor.

But that was unheard of. What power was that!? Looking back up he could see a huge circular hole in the ceiling from where he came. Chunks of rocks still flying down with him.

But what made him afraid was that the monster was giving chase. It charged right at him using the rocks in the air as footing.

'What the fuck!? Are you actually only here because of me!? Please don't tell me you are something akin to the reaper in the persona series...'

Azrael could not even think further than that before he got slammed at by the boney feet and catapulted into the ground.

He slammed into the ground and coughed out blood. If his body wouldn't be this durability he would have been mush.

But even though it was durable he still could only gurgle now and his eyes screaming in pain because he could feel everything in his body broken.

The amount of pain was actually the most excruciating he has ever felt. And he could not even move anymore.

This was actually the most fear he had with his pseudo immortality. That he would just be ripped to pieces and receiving never-ending pain.

When the skeleton landed over him and looked down at him. Its teeth seemed to form a sinister smile.

But it may have been a good thing that soon was bombarded by spells and attacks of other adventurers. At least that was what let Azrael feel relief seeing at first.

The 18th floor was after all the safe haven where many level 4´s and probably 5´s were gathered around.

That coupled with a lot of level 3 adventurers. He thought they could just swarm this thing and kill it.

But he forgot that he himself was already strong and was still played like a toy.

The skeleton swung its scythe and hundreds of adventurers died then and there. The ground was cracked wherever the shockwave traveled. And the buildings in the surroundings were destroyed.

"Oh my god..." The people that saw this were shocked in disbelief. "Weren't those guys at least level 3?"

"Ru...ru..RUN!!! Run from this thing!!! It just killed a level 5 with one swing!!!!" And then there were those that screamed and spread the panic.

Azrael breathed heavily and his eyes were tired. What he could see was only a massacre. At least the pain was slowly disappearing.

He could only watch as the monster was killing everything around him like a dance of death. Weirdly enough he could swear he saw the moon in one of its attacks when it swung its weapon in a full circle.

"Moon huh...That would help a lot..." Just then Azrael got an idea and widened his eyes.

He raised an arm slowly and gathered as much mana as he could. It was hard because most of the mana in the area was used up by that bastard.

Soon enough a white orb was in front of his eyes.

"Moon..." Azrael's eyes defocused and turned back from their golden hue to his original onyx color. He suddenly felt hot all over his body and his eyes changed once more. They turned blood red and even his sclera seemed to bleed by becoming just as red.

Then his body started spasming. It brought him back up on his feet and one could see something strange happening. His Falna on the back was glowing silverly white before it was covered with black fur growing all over his body.

His size started to increase and soon Azrael screamed out in a primal growl after he reached what seemed to be his final height of 10 meters.

The remaining stronger adventurers that were busy fighting for their lives got startled and looked over.

"Another one? What in hell's name is going on!?", asked one of them and gritted his teeth.

"No, that one is an adventurer! It looks like he has the beastification skill!", shouted another one that saw how Azrael turned into that.

But contrary to the adventurers believe Azrael started to thrash around and stomp other adventurers to the ground that were unfortunate enough standing too close to him.

"Don't talk bullshit me! That bastard has gone mad as well!!"

"Shit! Stay away from both of them! Try to get them to fight each other!!"

Some already had plans in using Azrael as some sort of punching bag.

And Azrael kinda did comply in his rage because as soon as he screamed and attacked his fellow adventurers the skeleton changed its focus back to him and charged at him while mainly ignoring the other adventurers.

When the scythe was swung in fast motion the giant ape reacted quickly and caught the blade in its tracks by letting it penetrate its hand.

The skeleton looked over at the blade of his weapon and could see that it was now stuck in the palms of the giant ape.

Its greenish flames flickered in confusion. The attacks it dealt out until now were not even close to being blocked. And now this thing caught its attack. That seemed to infuriate the skeleton and it kicked the giant ape in its face.

That let the ape stagger a little before it growled and shot out a beam of red energy towards the undead.

The skeleton dodged and watched at the sparkling surface of the earth that got bombarded by that beam. It became so hot that some of it became glass here and there.

The undead shrieked again and gathered more energy to attack. Its next swing sliced across the chest of the giant ape and a lot of blood spurted out.

In retaliation, the giant ape just punched back out and catapulted the skeleton hundreds of meters away. It didn't hesitate and let another beam follow.

The skeleton placed the blade of its scythe in front of itself and deflected the beam towards another direction. It was still being pushed even further away and skidding over the ground.

When that beam stopped it charged back forward and swung to decapitate the ape. its patience had run out. But the primate punched at the scythe and shattered the weapon.

The beam seemed to have done enough damage to soften it. And at the point of shattering a massive chunk of it spun into the air and landed with its edge into the ground.

Not stopping there the ape grabbed the skeleton's neck forcefully and stared at it before opening its mouth and collecting another immense amount of energy.

At this point-blank range, it shot its energy out in a wild manner and pulverized the head of the undead. Not stopping there it traveled its body down with the remaining energy and turned it also to ash.

Not seeing its enemy anymore the ape stomped around and shot out more beams in every single direction. In a celebrating rage, it destroyed a lot of other things.

The adventurers that watched that fight already evacuated away.

And after thrashing around for a few more minutes the ape soon stopped all movement and shrunk back.

Azrael now stood there unmoving...

Then a piece of the tattered cloth from the undead flew over and his hand reached out and grabbed it. He immediately wrapped it around his naked body because it was large enough to hide everything from his neck downward.

Then he started to walk forward and stood at the fragmented piece of the scythe. He grabbed it, yanked it out of the ground, and started to carry it with him.

Before the chaos subsided he made sure to get the hell out of here.

"Damn...where is my backpack?" Just when he asked himself that, he could see it a few meters away from his location.

How did he know it was his? It was rather simple with the smell that it had.

Smiling he picked it up as well and went towards a large rock. There he took out a golden key from his backpack and inserted it into the rock.

Suddenly a brown old door with metal framing appeared. He entered it. And after he closed it behind him the door disappeared and no trace of him existed at that moment.

And that was just at the right moment because a large group of adventurers appeared nearby and scouted the area.

"You say there was a level 6 Floor Boss invading? I don't see anything here...", asked a large man with short animal ears. A massive blade on his shoulders already at the ready.

"We are telling the truth. But now not even that giant monkey is here anymore."

"So it means someone has already beaten the Floor Boss..."

"That can't be! We all would know if someone that strong was on this floor. No one below level 7 would be able to just do that. Hundred of level 5 died and struggled against this monster! Not to even mention the death count on this incident..."

"Are you saying that person could be level 7?" There was actual curiosity in the voice of the man but the others could not hear it out.

"What? Of course not. Some say that adventurer barely survived or something and had to transform..."

The large men scanned the area. "Hmm...I wonder. Right, there is a lot of mana gathered somewhere in that direction...Oh, look. Is that the thing you fought against?"

Suddenly they saw a much smaller skeleton walking towards them. Barely 2,5 meters tall now. Its green core in its chest was also fractured and glowing dimly.

"That...it is that thing but why is it so much smaller than before?"

The large men lowered his weapon on the ground. "It doesn't matter. I will make sure this thing perishes..."

With that said the men engaged the skeleton.

For all in Orario and the Dungeon, this was a massive wake up call that shifted many power balances. A lot of people had died in that incident and the reason for this abnormality was still not cleared at all.

There was a hint in the form of an adventurer but no one knew who this individual was at all.

The only thing clear was that the individual was probably a level 6 adventurer.

That opinion was strengthened by a very powerful adventurer and no one argued about it because the weakened monster that was named death knight by now was powerful enough to go against level 5 in even te weakened state. From that, one could say it was a level 6 classified monster.

It may just be unfortunate that no level 6 adventurers were present on floor 18 that day. Or maybe it was luck that reinforcements in the form of one of the strongest adventurers was arriving fast.
