Chapter Twenty-Two: Angel POV: The Vision

Song recommended: Let Me Down by Jorja Smith feat Stormzy

Her eyes faltered open. Her body felt energized and she didn't feel like sleeping any longer. She didn't feel the warmth of the blanket but the warmth of the sun. And when her eyes finally adjusted to the light around her. She couldn't believe her sight.

Another nightmare had dared when she had lowered her defenses.

But this oddly felt real, she slowly walked forward, unsure of what terror would follow this time. There had been many situations where things had gone wrong, even though in reality when she had stayed here, everything had gone perfect.

She heard harsh whispers coming from the other side of a building and began to head there. When she was sure she was close enough to hear what they were saying but not be seen.

She stopped and listened. "-you told me that he wouldn't cut her wings that sooner or later, she would return here. That her perfect reputation would just be dented a bit, not this!" came the voice of an angry woman.

"Keep your tone down, if the guards find us talking about this, it's going to be a far worse punishment than what she got. She will return, I am sure of it. You just keep your head down and act like the golden child you have always wanted to be. Leave the rest to me." came a man's voice.

"Fine!" she huffed and Aural could hear their steps begin to fade. Who on earth were them and why on earth were they saying such stuff? She had always thought that people here were open because there wasn't anything to really hide.

You would assume that beings who lived a perfect life would appreciate it but it seemed as though every itched to have a touch of imperfection.

She continued on, remembering the way that she always took to get home from her lessons but this time. She stuck to the shadows, not wanting to catch their eyes or even let the terror follow her head-on. No, she wanted to figure this out carefully and without any issue.

Once she reached her parent's home, she got in from the back. She took in the scent of her home she always found comfort in. Took in the neatness of everything, knowing that it had been her mother that always made sure that this place was always clean.

She headed up the stairs, straight to her room and when she entered, the sight of it nearly made her collapse. This had been the very room she had rested in. Her desk with different books and diaries closed as though waiting for her to do her daily routine.

Her fingers slowly touched the bed and she watched it slowly reshape itself. Reshape itself into different bedding of her desire. The very same bedding that matched the one of earth. She took a seat on it and looked out the window.

Taking in the sight of the beings that greeted each other with smiles and waves. All with kindness and pure sincerity. They all seemed so perfect in their lives and it made her heart slightly ache as this had been her home. Now she felt as though she was staring at a window of possibilities that she could only dream to come close to.

"Aural…" she heard and turned to see her mother at the door. She quickly stood up, unsure of how it was that her mother could see her. She wanted for her mother to turn into a creature or for guards to drag her out but there was none of it. Instead, she witnessed the tears gather up in her mother's eyes and fall onto the ground as she took a step forward.

Her mother seemed unsure with the sight of her as she felt towards her. Yet when they both seemed to be courageous enough, they ran to each other and she felt the strong arms of her mother hold her together. Her lips pressed onto her head as she placed a kiss on her. Her arms were scared of letting her go.

Her breath slowly being exhaled as though it had been the most lovely intake. Aural couldn't believe that all of this was so real and that her mother was with her. She knew that this wasn't a dream. "Momma," she whispered. As she tightened her hold, scared of being woken up to reality.

"Oh my sweet, sweet, child, it's actually you. I feel you and see you and smell you. Though it is different. It is still you. Forever beautiful, forever mine." Her mother whispered as she continued to place pepper kisses on her. "How is this real? I don't understand." I questioned as I listened to my mothers' heartbeat.

"I don't know and right now I don't care, as long as you are here and I can hear you. See you and hold you. I would rather be grateful than fight." Her mother said. "Where's father?" I asked, knowing that if he were to see her. He would be shocked and would go to Him immediately.

"His at the High House. He's been pushing himself more and more into the work. All because of what happened to you. He's trying to find a way to have you redeem that way you can get back to us." She said. "But everyone knows that is impossible mother. How would he be able to do that?" I questioned.

"No one knows but there is always a way."

Aural kept her mouth shut for a few moments, knowing that her thoughts were not as positive as her mothers. She had seen the world for what it truly was and would not argue with her mother about certain things.

Yet she was afraid to admit that though she missed her home and this place. It didn't feel like it was her home anymore, it felt as though it was her parents. She felt as though what had happened, had done something to affect her but she wasn't ready to admit that maybe this was to become her life.
