6 Chapter Six: Angel’s POV: The Awakening

Song Recommended: The Other Side By Ruelle

Her entire being hurt.

Hurt to a point where she felt like screaming out so that everyone around her could hear it. She wanted to find the source of the pain and end it but she couldn't. Right now, she was trapped in a box of darkness and she wasn't sure how to get out. She couldn't breathe nor could she find a source of light.

"Mother!" she called out, "Father!" she yelled as she tried to get out but she was greeted by silence as she listened. No, she needed help, she needed to get out of there but for some odd reason she couldn't and it petrified her. "Elizabeth!" she tried again, hoping her best friend would at least be here.

"I'm sorry Aural, forgive me." she heard, and suddenly she felt something burning to touch her back and she screamed as she moved swiftly moved herself away from the flame. She felt herself hit something hard on the ground and slowly opened her eyes only to shut them quickly when the sun rays touched her eyes.

She moved away and when she didn't feel the heat on her face anymore, she slowly opened her eyes and was greeted by silence. Her eyes adjusted as she looked around the home. It was filled with dark colors and a strong scent of books and wood. She could see the different things around the home but some things could she couldn't recognize.

Where was she? Where were her parents? Her best friend? Why was she not at home? Why couldn't she remember what happened?

Her back ached so much she could barely move, she tried to move her shoulders back to cause her wings to sprout but when she tried, she felt as though she was on fire and she let out a cry from the pain. Why did it hurt for her to spread out her wings? She needed them to find her family.

Catching sight of the reflection, she quickly moved to it and pulled off the top garment but before she could turn to try and look, she heard someone say, "I would not do that if I were you."

Quickly turning to the side where she heard the voice coming from, she held up her fists, even though she had no clue what she would do. Yet she braced herself as she was overwhelmed by feelings that ran through her. She wasn't used to such and she wondered it this was a new lesson from Heaven. Had they given her a new assignment without notifying her?

She began to focus and when she caught sight of a figure, she squinted. That way she could make more of the figure that stood in the shadows. A human figure, she was sure, one that was tall and well built. Was this one of the other guards?

"Why do you stay in the shadows? Where am I?" she asked, watching the figure whilst trying to make sure that that figure was the only one in the room. "You are in my home, oddly enough, I saw you fall out of heaven … literally." Came the voice of a man as he stepped out of the shadows.

His arms were crossed as he wore heavy oval glasses, his light brown eyes intense as they both locked eyes. She couldn't stop staring at them. His aura glowed a bright blue and white, a mixture that she wasn't very familiar with but she knew belonged to humans that could see.

Had her mission to see earth gone wrong, leading up to her being found by a human? Where was her best friend and why had she not come to rescue her? She should be on her way … after all, they were best angel friends, linked from birth as they swore to each other …

Right?

"You don't recall your memories." Came the man's voice, it was delicate yet slightly husky. It caused light shivers to run through her and she didn't understand why. "I-I … I am just confused. My body is in pain and I can't seem to really remember a lot at this moment. What do you mean by 'fall out of heaven'?" she asked, watching the man move as he continued to watch her curiously.

Aural had been warned that there were humans that were given the sight from birth, they were used to help save angels and also cast away demons. Yet some of them only sought out angels to harm them, to take their wings or use them for their selfish ambitions.

Yet for some odd reason, this man seemed genuine to her but at the same time, there was something about him that intrigued her. It was as if there was a power running through him that drew her to him but she knew that it was impossible. No one had that kind of power besides The Main Three.

"I'm not surprised that you don't really remember but I think I know what can help." He said and then threw something at her. Her reflex kicked in and she quickly caught the two pieces of cloth. "Get dressed and if I were you, I would avoid the damn mirror. I don't think you want to see the scars before you remember what fully happened."

The sound of the door being shut made her slightly gasp, she wasn't used to this and something in her felt oddly confused. She didn't know why there was a gap in her mind and what had happened. Angels never forgot things, no matter how little or irreverent they were.

She felt lost and confused but if the man was willing to help her, then she would take it because she needed to put the pieces together. She needed to remember so that she could go back home. The first step was figuring out how to dress in the two pieces of cloth that he had given her.

Huh …

The steam had stopped showcasing itself as he stared at the view by his window, his cup of tea had gone cold because he had been waiting for the fallen angel to show herself. He didn't even know why he had brought her back to his home, this was against the rules and against his very own curiosity.

Yet he knew that if he had left her there, the humans would not have processed an image of a young woman, deep within a hole, without marks on her skin alive. Well with only two marks on her back. Marks that would clearly show that she had wings. Not even a tattoo artist would be able to cover that.

Well not while it's still fresh anyway.

He heard the sound of the doorknob being twisted and he smirked, at least she wasn't one of those angels that couldn't figure out the basic things. When he turned, his smirk quickly turned into a frown at the sight of how she had dressed in the simplest outfit.

He had given her a simple outfit, a tracksuit. Yet here she was wearing it in opposite directions. Meaning pants faced backward as well as the track shirt, the hoodie was in front.

"Is something wrong? Does it not suit me?" she asked sweetly, her voice as soothing as the playing of a violin. It annoyed him. "You are wearing both of the pieces wrong. They're both facing the wrong way, you need to go back and just turn them the other way around." He remarked lazily.

"Oh, my bad, I'll try again."

He turned his back as soon as he heard the door close again and when he heard it open quickly, he slowly turned, getting ready to tell her what would be the rules of them going out. Yet he was shocked to see what she had done with the simplest instructions he had given her.

She had worn the top on the bottom and the pants on the top.

What in the literal heavens …
