Waiting in Line

Shen Tong stood still, took a deep breath, and finally mustered the courage to take her first step towards Fengxing Entertainment. However, to maintain balance, she walked with her knees together and her feet turned outwards in an eight-figure shape.

"Tong Tong! How can you go to the interview like that?" Fang Xiaoxi was amused and exasperated by Shen Tong's awkward gait.

Despite the awkward posture, Shen Tong maintained a proud expression: "This is called conserving energy! At this point, it doesn't matter how I behave; those directors and general managers won't see me anyway. Better to save my strength and present my best image later!"

Fang Xiaoxi couldn't argue with Shen Tong and had to agree: "Alright, just don't walk like that during the interview! There are less than three minutes left; hurry up!"

Before Shen Tong could react, Fang Xiaoxi pulled her towards the entrance of Fengxing Entertainment's lobby.

"Is that girl with the X-shaped legs is also here for an interview?" A tall man in his thirties, wearing sunglasses, stood beside a black Ferrari, watching Shen Tong's awkward run with an amused expression.

The driver got out of the car and respectfully answered: "She seems to be here for an interview. I haven't seen anyone with such severe turned-out feet working here before!"

"Today's interviews should be interesting!" The man removed his sunglasses, revealing a chiseled face with a slight smile in his eyes.

"Well, Manager Xia, you're here to interview artists today. That girl looks like she's here for an assistant position, so the chances of encountering her are slim." The driver agreed, signaling that they should head into the company.

"Good morning, Manager Xia!" Employees greeted Xia Zixuan as he entered the building.

Xia Zixuan responded with a nod to acknowledge their greetings.

When Shen Tong reached the interview floor, she was stunned by the sight: "Are you kidding me? How are there so many people here to interview for an assistant position? These people must have queued up since last night! How long will it take for my turn to come?"

Fang Xiaoxi scanned the dozen or so queues and sympathetically looked at Shen Tong: "Tong Tong, face reality! Be patient. I'm off to work now!"

After saying goodbye to Fang Xiaoxi, Shen Tong reluctantly joined a line behind a girl with an explosive hairstyle.

Why are there so many non-mainstreamers here? Do you really need to dress up so exaggeratedly for an assistant interview? Shen Tong glanced around, noticing almost everyone was dressed flamboyantly, and couldn't help but shake her head.

"Auntie, move over! You're blocking me!" A girl with blue hair and a miniskirt pushed Shen Tong aside and stood in front of her.

Shen Tong was momentarily speechless at being called "auntie": "Auntie?"

"Yes! Look at how you're dressed! Auntie, the janitor interviews are on the next floor!" The blue-haired girl said disdainfully, chewing gum.

Shen Tong smirked: "My outfit? Take a look at yours first! Where did you crawl out from, you blue Smurf? You cut in line so shamelessly, without any sense of taste, morals, or self-awareness—a true product of the three 'nos'!"

"You…" The blue-haired girl was left speechless with anger.

"What 'you'? Get behind me!" Shen Tong mimicked the girl's earlier move, pushing her to the back.

The girl continued grumbling behind her, but Shen Tong chose to ignore it. As long as no one cut in line, she didn't care about the girl's mutterings.

After an hour had passed, Shen Tong had moved only a few inches forward. During this time, she even learned that the blue Smurf girl was a fan of a certain singer and was just here to waste time.

If this continues, I'll be exhausted before my turn! Even if I perform well, the interviewers will be too tired to appreciate it. Shen Tong anxiously looked around, trying to think of a solution.

She noticed only three or four people waiting outside the artist interview office next door, and they were all seated. Smiling to herself, she murmured, "I've got an idea!"

"Smurf, you can have my spot! Don't mention it!" Shen Tong quickly headed towards the artist interview line.

The blue-haired girl hadn't reacted before seeing Shen Tong head to the artist interview area. She sneered, "She thinks she can interview as an artist?"

Not having to wait and having a seat, this was much better than the assistant interview! Shen Tong was thrilled, feeling more excited with each step.

"Ouch!" Shen Tong's balance shifted, and she fell to the ground. Both the artist and assistant interviewees burst into laughter.

How embarrassing! Shen Tong quickly got up, dusted herself off, and glared at her high heels. I knew wearing such high heels wouldn't end well!

"The next applicant, Shangguan Yunting, please get ready!" A woman, dressed like a secretary, came out of the office. Shen Tong watched her stride confidently in even higher and thinner heels, realizing her skills were lacking.

Shen Tong approached the seats, asking the man with folded arms sitting there: "Excuse me, could you move a bit?"

The man glanced at her and scooted over slightly. He had short black hair, wore a silver punk leather jacket, and had a healthy tan. Though seated, his height was estimated to be around six feet. His eyes, partially covered by bangs, held a hint of coldness, and his chiseled features were striking.

Wow, this guy is really handsome! Shen Tong couldn't help but admire him. But it's important to make a good impression. A guy this handsome has a high chance of being accepted, and I might need his help at work.

"Hi, I'm Shen Tong. Let's be friends!" Shen Tong flashed her sunny smile, extending a friendly greeting to the man.

"Su Xiao," the man replied without turning, maintaining his stoic expression.

What a stone face! Shen Tong rolled her eyes internally. She disliked guys who ignored her and only focused on looking cool. Soon, the few remaining artist interviewees were almost done. Seeing the "Smurf" girl still stuck in line, Shen Tong felt proud of her smart decision.

"Last applicant, Su Xiao, please get ready!" The secretary in high heels announced before heading back inside.

He's the last one! Shen Tong gritted her teeth, forming a plan in her mind.
