Keyon's words caused Casiano's slightly curled fingers to abruptly clench, his fingernails digging deep into the flesh of his palm. The sharp pain from his self-inflicted pressure failed to suppress the agonizing sensation attacking his heart. This unfamiliar heartache rapidly spread throughout his entire body, like an electrical shock causing pain to ripple across him. Yet, even amidst such torment, he could not believe Alla was gone. He hadn't even had the chance to look at her; how could she possibly die? She wouldn't die! She must be hiding, it had to be so!
