A guardian

Mark, after teasing the groggs in his trap left for the castle, entering the castle he unnoticedly avoided the button on the floor and head straight to the corridor.

He made his way to the library in anticipation of not missing too much. Opening the door he saw all of them already gathered.

"I have an idea." Peter stated.

"Spit it out." Captain Brezz said.

"It's only an hunch but what if we ask Mark's father, Dr Bryan to create a hardening steroid for Jade, that way it might probably trigger something. What do you think?" Peter explained, showing off a hopeful smile.

"That's bound to take a long time." Mark said, still reading the book.

"(Clears throat) Em I found this book, it says 'A king's true power.' Do any of you know about it?" Kell asked.

"Why don't you read it to us." Captain Recks said.

Taking a deep breath, Kell started to read...." This book is about the kings of each ability users.

The Kings who are direct descendants of the first ability users are known as the most powerful ability user but it comes with certain level of price while queens are the second most powerful ability users.

When a king make use of the extraordinary powers bestowed on them from birth, their life span decrease bit by bit as a price to pay. This caused them to use it in only desperate situations.

Every king or first child of a royal family gets a revelation once in a while about the previous kings and the powers they had.

A king is strong enough to take on an army of soldiers, though the price will also be large. Time passed now and the royal families refrained from using their extraordinary powers.

This decision caused many to start losing sight of the kings for protection and soon everyone forgot how strong the kings were, making it a top priority to protect their king.

Though I was never against the royals limiting their use of abilities but why would a king watch their village get destroyed just to live longer while the soldiers fight to death?

To me a king dying for his village is better than a king with no village.

This is based on the revelations I've seen so far, maybe they would have to rethink about their decision.

Written by Timothy Raz." Kell finished." It seems like they are all connected somehow.

"A revelation? I do have dreams about people I don't know too, how did anyone even think of writing about their personal matter?" Jade asked.

"Doesn't the fact that the kings has been hiding their true powers bothers any of you?" Captain Brezz asked.

"It does, countless people died on the battlefield protecting the village, protecting the king's family but they had the powers to stop it and yet, just because they want to live longer they didn't." Captain Recks said.

"But Saz never said anything about a revelation, did he?" Mark asked, turning to Jade.

"Not that I know of." Jade replied.

"So we're risking our lives for a village that could get saved by just one man." Peter stated.

"Let's not jump into conclusion, there might be other reasons. Maybe we should check for other books same as this." Kings suggested.

"And if there's none, we'll return back and get the answers from them, Right?" Lisa said, punching on her palm.

"But why are all these books here? Someone was surely gathering them but how." Picc asked.

"It must have been that man, ehh Parcilio Luke was it." Cindy replied.

"And who's that?" Captain Recks asked.

"It's the man who brought the idea of building this castle." Peter replied.

"Oh! Ok." Captain Recks said. "But he's not immortal, how can he keep gathering them and besides from where? Well, let's continue the search we don't have much time."

The others agreed and they started to search the library for a similar book.

Their was none in the library neither was their anything talking about their current situation, so they finished their search and left for the other side of the castle.

It was dark already and after getting out, they had to turn round the castle so as to get their bikes.

"So what about the plan?" Captain Brezz asked when they got there.

"It's best we go see my dad first and talk about the ability steroid." Mark said.

"Is there a need? Let's just make the kings fight for the village." Naomi replied.

"I'm only saying, as a backup measure." Mark said. "The groggs are really strong."

"He's right, we are not sure if only the kings can take on all of them." Jade stated.

"Okay that's enough, Ham will follow you to your village, once you get what's needed, have someone bring him back." Captain Brezz said.

"Okay, we'd try our best." Jade replied.

They left the south wasteland for the West after coming to an agreement about all their plans.

After traveling for two days the bikes went out of energy and they had to journey for another two days on foot.

Eventually they got to the west and went their separate ways while Ham went along with Jade's team to Takeki village.

When Jade along with the others entered the village he, Mark and Ham went straight to Dr Bryan to explain their situation of which he decided to give it a try.

"But you guys are really asking for a lot." Dr Bryan said. "Less I forget, Rhen said she's done with the weapons."

"Oh! yeah, I planned on going there after leaving here. Then probably tomorrow I'll take Ham back to Maneki." Jade said, walking towards the door.

"Can't you tell either Peter or Billy to take him back?" Mark asked.

"What! No, I'll do it myself, why will i tell them to do such for me?" Jade replied.

"Wait I thought you were their leader." Ham said.

"Not really, all of us are acting voluntarily but I could only ask for favors."

"I still don't get."

"Meaning they could leave whenever they want, you can basically say I formed the squad and the king assigned them to me but it's not official." Jade said.

"So you are saying, though the king gave them to you but only if they agree to join you. To me I think the king gave them an option to join you or not and nothing else." Ham stated, while Joe was taking a sample of his cells.

"I guess you could put it that way." Mark said.

"Hmm, I never thought about it that way." Jade said and left.

He went to Rhen's house and got her updated, also, he collected the remaining weapons and took them to their respective owner.

Then he went to the castle to see Saz.

"How have you been? You sure are still trying hard." Saz asked seeing Jade enter his room.

"It seems like you are not surprised by my arrival." Jade said gazing around the room. "I actually came to ask you a question."

"A question?"

"Yes, have you by chance had any revelation about the past kings or your ancestors?" Jade asked, doubtfully.

"No, why?" Saz replied.

"It's nothing. Well I'll just take my leave then."

"Seriously! Already?"

"Yeah, I have to see your dad." Jade said as he head for the door, then he stopped. "I have about three questions to ask him."
