XAVIER EASTON

The previous night.

"Tell me what all this is about…she is your sister" Inside the study room, a man was standing adjacent to Mr. Drake Easton, and he is none other than Xavier Easton.

Being the first and only son of the Old man. At the age of ten, his father tossed him to a military camp, which approximately deteriorated the two relationships. At age twenty-one, he returned home and took over the family enterprise.

He was a good-looking man. His jawlines were chiseled oval-shaped with a deep cleft chin, and his cheekbones refined. He had long, arched eyebrows. His heart-shaped lips were the most prominent feature on his face, likewise, his long pointed nose.

He has deep-set, fleeced with attractive deep blue eyes which became outstanding and bewitching especially among women. But this man was not the least concerned about their fantasies or desires.

"So?" Came a straightforward question. Xavier pinched the space between his brows and tucked his hands inside his trouser's pocket.

"Care to explain why my eldest son has his f**king lips against my youngest daughter" Fury was written all over Mr. Easton's face, and it only worsened watching that uncaring expression on his son's face.

"You are aware of tonight's accident and the trauma put on May…she was f**king raped. Don't get me disappointed as I already am" The man hauled the set of pictures to the floor and grumbled "Are you in love with her?"

"Stop overthinking" Xavier told calmly.

"You kissed your sister, and you are saying I am overthinking" Mr. Easton ferociously shouted. Xavier hasn't done anything extraordinarily pleasing to his eyes, and he was adding more disappointment.

"That's between your precious daughter and i" Xavier spat out coldly, his deep blue eyes not changing a slight flick of emotion, "You needed me for this? Because of that kiss? I'll tell you now that it happened in the heat of the moment…don't worry, she gave me a reply" he sighed "Father, don't forget that she is still an adopted daughter"

Mr. Easton glared at him, "Shut the hell up!! She is my daughter"

"If that's all, I'll be taking my leave" Xavier declared emotionlessly and turned around to leave the room, but then he remembered something important, and looked back at his father.

"What?" The Old man raised a brow in displeasure.

"After she has recovered, can you let her join the company? I require a break" Mr. Easton scoffed and remarked "Take a break? Do you see Mr. Dargan or Mr. Gold taking an f**king break? I made you the CEO for a reason. This is a battleground…the whole business shit and organization is all about being a winner, and having ultimate power. I didn't push you to that other world because I thought you still required time. You are past thirty, yet you are saying some f**king s**t about suspension!! I didn't train a son from this family to become a loser and a coward. When will my son ever make his father proud? The day I die?"

From the surface, Xavier's expression was unmoved, but inside, he was tremendously pissed off.

"I'll be going" He muttered plainly and left the room.

.....

Outside the room, a protruding expression, was deployed on Xavier's face. He loosened the gunmetal-grey, knotted tie, under his chin and sighed.

"Boss" Igor Davis arrived at that moment. The tanned-skinned man was Xavier's assistant and had been working with him for eight years now. He was fully aware of the rotten-egg relationship between his boss and his father. Currently, he felt bad for his boss and best friend.

"I told you to leave" Xavier glared at the man before he looked away "I'll stay here for the night, you should leave"

Igor frowned and wondered why his boss wanted to stay back because as far as knew, Xavier hated this home and would do anything never to return. Actually, this wasn't the first shock. Earlier, at the hush of night, this man suddenly called for him to prepare a thousand roses and yellow flowers. If not for his endurance and willed resistance, he could have died from a heart attack. He thought wildly of his boss' weird behavior until tonight. The mere recollection of the incident made him quake in cowardice.

"Xavier…er…I mean boss, if it's about the youngest mistress. I am afraid to tell you, no one is allowed to go into her room, not even her engaged suitor" Igor exposed to him. Not long ago, he heard the senior nurse instructing men to stay on guard outside that room. He informed his boss as he was worried about him.

"How has any of that got to do with me? Stop with your f**king sermon and do as I say…leave" Xavier grunted. Igor stubbornly refused, but the former was much more unrelenting. With a mandatory, the fretful assistant was forced to leave.

"I did the investigation as per your order…the information are inside the file, I'll be leaving now" Igor handed the blue folder to the offish man and reluctantly left.

Xavier clenched his hands on the folder and took a deep breath. His eyes were impassive as he solemnly opened the file and read through. He saw inappropriate pictures that nearly gave away his sanity. In bitter rancor, he shut his eyes and gritted his teeth. That feeling wasn't strange to him, after all, that's the only emotion he had ever felt.

'I demand my crazy answers'

He moved his long slender legs to wherever it went and stopped. That happened to be in front of a protracted mahogany, brownish door. There were two familiar men in black, reputing imposition at each side. They saw the first master and bowed respectfully.

"First master, you are here" The man by the left said, his eyes never moving away from Xavier.

"Let me in" was Xavier's grim response. He wished to kill somebody at that moment.

"We are sorry, but it's impossible" The other man, who had a long hideous scar on his left eyes, boldly refused.

Xavier's expression darkened, "Your reply means nothing…now let me in; otherwise, you won't last to enjoy the next day. Unless, you are truly demented with life" He wasn't the type to threaten people, but this was urgent.

The two bodyguards immediately gave him direct entrance to the room. After Mr. Easton, the second in command was the First Master, who was much scarier and dangerous than their Boss.

Xavier entered the room. He was drubbed with the smell of susceptible and diverse antiseptic that stung his nose. The midnight moon replenished and sat on the frail face of the woman, sleeping on the bed. She wasn't even aware of her environment.

Xavier lowered his eyes to the file, clutched onto it, and sauntered towards her.

'Is this your 'staying out of trouble'?'

.....

"Didn't we make a promise that you'd never have this for yourself?" Xavier touched the bag of sterile IV fluid, which connected to her wrist. In the frozen darkness, the coldest wind cruelly flurried.

Xavier slowly left the IV bag and lurched towards the woman. His footsteps lingered with the melodic music of the wind throughout the melancholic room.

When he saw the purple marks all over her neck, and the bandage around her head, it felt like an ice bullet seared through his body. He was in lots of pain. He was too late to reach out to her hands…he failed to protect her.

"Consider my feelings at least before you went and sleep with that stranger. Are you that foolish for that man's love, for going out of your principles?" The man sat on the space beside the unconscious body. He couldn't help but reach for her hands. He shifted closer and placed his hand behind her head to steady her neck. Pain crept his vision.

"Can't you have a little more of sense?" He scolded, but his deep blue eyes were soft and seeking for an underlying presence. He averred further, "Wake up and become my wife"

Hearing his words, a scoff escaped his lips, "Yet another rejection? What's so good about that cheater? Are you so head over heels for him? I am your big brother, the best candidate as your man. You said you are in control of your life, why the hell did you f**k that stranger"

He drank in her appearance. Thinking about her porcelain skin under another man's build that didn't belong to him, threw him onto a cold ice and tortured his whole being. She was an important person in his life. Someone he'd break hell for. But she betrayed him.

He deftly released his hand behind her neck and drawled further away from the bed. Eyes of agony and disappointment now laid on the body.

"I'll let you go…for the last time, I'll do as father said"

He looked away and left.
