Power

They arrived at the Bureau where a rather tall woman that had shoulder-length dark blonde hair kept tied up in a high ponytail with bangs parted down the middle. She wore a small framed pair of glasses and a topcoat.

Her eyebrows shoot up once she sees Jade step out of the car.

"Olivia," Jade said with a half smile.

"Jade, is this the 'accidental' chaos magic user?" Olivia asked looking sideways at Hunter

"Indeed"

"I never thought the great Jade would take an underling. The fact that he used chaos magic ... This better not be related to who I think it is," she whispered the last part but Jade's enhanced hearing seems to have picked it up

"It isn't, I promise," she said.

***

It was almost evening when Jade pulled up in the Metropolitan School of mysticism. "Don't trouble yourself too much, I'd find a pure demon who can break the link," she assured

Hunter stepped out of the car before making his way to his room. 'You can't break the link?' He asked Waleed

[I could but it's going to take the longest time. Pure demons can sever it within minutes]

Hunter stopped in front of his door, 'someone's in my room, I can feel it'

[And what order are they?]

'They have the same type of energy as Jade, only weaker ... Vampire'

[Good, you're improving, open the door, you have nothing to be worried about]

Hunter pushed the door open, stepping into the room to find a fairly tall woman lying in his bed, reading a book. She had short shaggy black hair, brown skin, and turquoise eyes, wearing a light cardigan and a pair of blue jean trousers.

"Hello," he said with a more confused tone than a welcoming one

"Sorry. I got tired of waiting outside so I let myself in," she said, setting the book aside

"Right," Hunter drawled, 'Remind me to change that lock'

"I'm Leah, Jade's partner. She thought it would be a good idea for us to get acquainted since we are going to be seeing more of each other," she said, climbing down from the bed and offering a handshake

"Ah, I'm Hunter."

Hunter's eyes meet hers. She looked young, 18-ish, "So you know about the other guy?"

"Yes," she tried to speak indifferently but her expression betrays her, guilt. "Jade said you call him Waleed?"

"That's true," Hunter nodded

[Hey! Can you do something for me?]

'Huh?'

[I want you to help relay a question to her, if you do this for me I'd teach you a new skill]

'What question?'

[Where is Yves]

"Um, Leah ... Where is Yves?"

Leah's eyes twitch and for a second or two, her expression changed, she was panicking, "W -- why would you ask me that?" She stuttered

"I don't know," Hunter replied quickly to calm her down, "the question just popped into my head, I just felt I should ask you," he explained

She turned towards the door, "I think I should go now," she said, still visibly shaken, "you should ask Jade if any more question pops into your head," she added before shutting the door behind her.

'What the hell was that? Who's Yves?"

[Don't worry yourself too much, go to sleep, you'll need your energy for what I'm going to teach you tomorrow]

The next day after classes, Hunter heads to the other side of the school.

The Metropolitan school had a sparse environment surrounded by high fences. It was easy for him to find a location only inhabited by long green trees.

"Alright, I think nobody's here, what are you going to teach me?"

[A new form of attack, cause the one you're using is pathetic]

"No need to be harsh!"

[Yeah, yeah ... As you know, there are four distinct types of magic: natural or pure, dark, black, and chaos magic]

"What's the difference between dark and black magic?"

[Dark magic is the type of magic used by the dark mystics class while black magic is a more ... corrupt form of dark magic]

"Okay"

[Remember the lesson you were thought about how everything emits energy? That's important for what I'm about to teach you]

Hunter nods as if Waleed was in front of him.

[Some individuals have high energy within themselves, the higher the energy is within them, the less they are likely to rely on their surroundings for energy]

"Interesting, how high is the energy within me?"

[Trust me, you don't want to know]

"That bad?"

[Anyways, your surrounding, for example, is filled with trees that emit energy. When trying to use natural magic to harness that energy, you are merely channeling that energy, becoming a part of the tree]

"Like when creating a domain"

[Exactly! Dark magic users on the other hand take the energy for themselves, leaving the trees with none although that energy would be regenerated in time while black magic takes the energy plus nothing would ever grow here again]

"Yikes. What about chaos magic?"

[That's a whole other thing we don't have the time to go into ... When channeling energy from these trees, the first thing you would need to do is ...]

"Create a domain?"

[Great, you're listening. After creating a domain, the trees' energy would hence flow through you increasing the magic within you, if only momentarily]

"So once I'm done the energy would be gone too?"

[Yes. Black magic is looking tempting, huh?]

"Not for me but I can see why some would prefer that to natural energy."

[True, when all your peers have higher energy within them you start to think black magic would be the best way to keep up]

"Speaking from experience?"

[Speaking about you]

"Huh?"

[As I was saying after you form a domain, you now have the energy you're harnessing flowing through you but must be careful not to stray too far from the domain or you'd lose that energy]

"So it's like a WiFi connection?"

[No it's not, it's more of a -- Yes, it's like a WiFi connection]

"Thought so"

[What attack would you like to try?]

"There are seven right? Yellow, orange, blue, pink, purple, green, and red"

[There are more attacks but sure, let's stick to the ones you know]

"What do you mean they are more?"

[Concentrate, which do you want to do?]

"I already did blue, I think, so ... Pink"

[Sure. Keep in mind the wider your domain, the more energy you'd be channeling and the more energy you channel ...]

"The more the energy inside of me increases, got it!"

Hunter concentrates, inhaling and exhaling, listening closely until he could hear the trees ... until he could feel their energy.

He clenched his fists, using the new energy passing through him to ready his attack. Hunter felt it grow and grow, increasing with every second, he opened his eyes and looked at his fists, they now glow with pink energy surrounding them. His lips curl upward at the sight, he turns swiftly and throws a punch at a tree behind him.

Nothing happens at first but then the tree began to grow, huge and huger, its roots bursting in and out of the soil, its trunks as large as some of the trees around, its leaves pink with grey flowers here and there, and the tree itself, standing upward of 20 meters.

The leaves formed a natural umbrella over the smaller trees, providing a large shade.

[What was that? You're supposed to strike it down not transfer all the energy you gathered into it!]

"I was going to strike it but I changed my mind midway because I didn't want to fall a tree and then this happened ... You think anyone would notice?"

[That a giant tree suddenly appeared on one side of the school? I doubt it]

Hunter placed his hand on the tree, "I can feel the enormous energy inside it ..."

[Because you just gave it that energy ... With dark magic]

"I -- I used dark magic?"

[Looks like Circe was right after all, you possess both the ability of a sorcerer and a dark mystic]

"I thought the dark mystics abilities were because of you?"

[No, I'm blocking you from tapping into my energy. If the abilities were because of me, it would be plain chaos magic]

"Then why?"

[You probably inherited each from your parents, which means they must have been really powerful people, that explains why they are some gaps in your memories]

"What are you talking about?"

[Tell me something, Hunter, can you remember anything from before you were 12?]

"No ... I just kinda spawn on my 12th birthday at the orphanage"

[And I've been in your head, I can't find any of your memories before that either so that means you didn't just forget, someone wiped it]

"Why would anyone do that?"

[I don't know but I must say, things just got interesting]

The first section of this chapter was supposed to be a part of the previous chapter but I couldn't find a natural place to stop and ended up cutting it and moving it to this chapter and it came out ... crude.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed it and as always, thanks for reading.
