Chapter 1: Transmigration

-Pov Jason Frost

Well, I guess it's risk-free for me to use the function of my so-called system now that I'm dead...

Hence, I focused on the panel with glowing words in front of me in the endless darkness I was in.

[...DETECTED THAT THE HOST HAS DIE...]

[DO YOU WANT TO START THE SYSTEM TRANSMIGRATION FUNCTION... YES/NO...]

Finally, I put [YES] without any further hesitation, and instantly those shiny words in front of me disappeared and new ones appeared.

[...INITIATING THE TRANSMIGRATION FUNCTION...]

[NEXT CHOOSE THE FORM OF SOUL TRANSMIGRATION DESIRED...]

[TRANSMIGRATION TO AN ALTER EGO(+)/FORCED TRANSMIGRATION TO ANOTHER BODY(+)]

[TRANSMIGRATION TO AN ALTER EGO(-)...THE HOST'S SOUL TRANSMIGRATES FROM ITS WORLD AND REPLACES THE SOUL OF AN ALTER EGO OF THE HOST THAT ALREADY EXISTS IN ANOTHER WORLD, INHERITING ITS MEMORIES IN THE PROCESS...]

[FORCED TRANSMIGRATION TO ANOTHER BODY(-)...THE HOST'S SOUL TRANSMIGRATES FROM ITS WORLD AND REPLACES THE SOUL OF AN ENTITY FROM A WORLD WHERE THE HOST'S ALTER EGO DOES NOT EXIST AND DEPENDING ON THE REPLACEMENT PROCESS THE HOST MAY OR MAY NOT INHERIT HIS MEMORIES IN THE PROCESS...]

'Well, I guess I prefer transmigration to an alter ego of mine, if I can get the memories and keep an appearance as well as a name similar to mine it would be easier for me to adapt to the change' I thought and ended up deciding on that option.

[...INITIATING TRANSMIGRATION INTO AN ALTER EGO OF THE HOST...]

[... FAILED TRANSMIGRATION OF THE SOUL TO AN ALTER EGO...]

[... FAILURE DETECTED...]

[THE HOST DOESN'T HAVE ALTER EGOS...]

[WISH TO FORCE TRANSMIGRATION INTO ANOTHER BODY? ...YES/NO...]

'Huh? damn, why the hell is there an option if it turns out there are no alter egos of me?' I asked myself a bit annoyed, but still, as annoyed as I was I didn't have much of a choice at this point.

[...DANGER!...]

[IT HAS BEEN DETECTED THAT THE HOST'S SOUL IS VANISHING, THERE ARE ONLY A FEW MOMENTS LEFT BEFORE THE PROCESS ENDS AND ONCE THIS HAPPENS THE "CHAOS SYSTEM" WILL VANISH ALONG WITH THE HOST'S SOUL...]

'Okey, okay, I guess I'll have to accept the other option' I finally was resigned with the outcome of things since even after death I can't do anything.

I put [Yes] again and the system kept showing me different text panels with descriptions of the whole process.

[...INITIATING FORCED TRANSMIGRATION...]

[IT HAS BEEN DETECTED THAT THE HOST'S SOUL IS WEAK AND NOT SUITABLE TO REPLACE ANOTHER HEALTHY SOUL...]

[...SEARCHING FOR A FADING AWAY SOUL...]

[ ...FADING AWAY SOUL DETECTED, STARTING FORCED TRANSMIGRATION IMMEDIATELY...]

Suddenly blackness again bordered my vision and I felt a great pain along with a sudden connection to something that attracted me.

I didn't know what it was, but I assumed it was all part of the transmigration process.

So I let myself be carried away by this attraction... Well, it wasn't like I could put up much of a fight either.

Now I just felt like I was falling, falling, falling, falling, very slowly into an endless abyss.

Everything was darkness until finally a flash of light appeared and I knew immediately that this was the one that was drawing me in.

Then, suddenly, the light disappeared and I appeared again surrounded only by darkness, far away from any light...

Until the system screen reappeared in front of me.

[...FORCED TRANSMIGRATION PROCESS SUCCESSFUL...]

[THE HOST'S CURRENT BODY IS IN A STATE OF COMA AND IT STILL NEEDS A FEW MOMENTS BEFORE THE HOST CAN AWAKEN...]

"Okey..., that doesn't sound good at all."

[...WARNING!...]

[A REMNANT OF THE FADING AWAY SOUL HAS BEEN DETECTED IN THE HOST'S BODY...]

[DO YOU WISH TO RETRIEVE THE MEMORIES AND RECOLLECTIONS OF THIS ONE? ...YES/NO...]

I clearly put [YES] without thinking too much about it as I had no idea where or in whom I was.

And knowing that the body I had transmigrated to was in a coma state did not reassure me one bit.

[... STARTING ASSIMILATION OF THE REMNANT OF THE FADING AWAY SOUL...]

[THE REMNANT OF THE FADING AWAY SOUL WILL NOW BE INTEGRATED INTO THE HOST'S SOUL]

...

[THE REMNANT OF THE FADING AWAY SOUL WILL NOW BE INTEGRATED INTO THE HOST'S SOUL]

When Jason Frost saw this message from the system he was quite confused as he only wanted to get the memories and remnants back, not to integrate the soul or anything like that.

But before he could do anything, out of nowhere, he began to vaguely see images of a young man's entire life.

The images gradually began to become clearer and Jason could understand that he was seeing the life of a young man named Xie Yan who was born in Shadow Blue Village in the Great Han Dynasty.

Shadow Blue Village was not very large. From his memories, he could understand that there were only a little over 10,000 households and when you enter the town, there is only one shopping street, plus several stores selling basic necessities.

As the pictures passed, Jason came to understand that this was a world of cultivation and martial arts where Martial Dao was the most important thing.

In this world humans chose to take cultivation as a way of life and dominance, the strong ruled over the weak. While the great families and sects were in charge of maintaining order.

Jason continued to observe the life of the young man named Xie Yan with interest and confusion when suddenly a scene presented itself that made him feel like he already knew what world this was.

Apparently, Xie Yan was in one of those sects, one that was known as the High Heaven Pavilion sect, a second-rate sect that was known throughout the lands of the Han dynasty for its brutal training methods to elevate cultivators to higher heights and eliminate the weak.

In addition, Xie Yan was the cousin of Xie Hong Chen, a character Jason kept remembering hearing about in a novel he read.

He continued to observe the young man's entire life until he finally concluded that he was undoubtedly in the world of the novel Martial Peak.

Jason came to this conclusion after observing the two years young Xie Yan spent at the High Heaven Pavilion sect where he met several of the characters Jason Frost remembered from Martial Peak.

Then Jason saw how things quickly took a bad turn in the middle of the 3rd year at High Heaven Pavilion for a 14-year-old Xie Yan.

It all started on a mission that the great elder Wei Xi Tong, Xie Yan and Xie Hong Chen's master, gave them, a mission that seemed quite simple and would provide them with a good amount of contribution points. At that time Xie Yan at the age of 14 was only a 7th Stage Initial Element and Xie Hong Chen at the age of 16 was a 4th Stage of Qi Transformation.

Both cousins along with a group of 7 other disciples who were in between the peak realm of Initial Element and the realm of Qi Transformation had gone to the forest to collect various things that the great elder entrusted to them, but in the process, Xie Hong Chen seems to have encountered a 4th Order beast (Comparable Realm: Separation And Reunion).

Both Xie Yan and the other 7 disciples intervened to help Xie Hong Chen face the beast, but in the process, 3 disciples in the Initial Element died and it was then that Xie Hong Chen gave the order for everyone to retreat..., the problem with this was that Xie Yan's speed in the Initial Element was not comparable to that of his cousin or the 4 disciples who were still alive and were all in the Qi Transformation realm.

Therefore the beast ended up attacking Xie Yan, and even though he survived the attack and then finally escaped, his meridian network was badly damaged.

It was obvious to Jason that Xie Hong Chen and the other disciples had taken advantage of the situation to use Xie Yan as bait and escape knowing that he was the slowest among them.

Naturally, when they returned to the sect, Xie Yan was treated quickly and then everyone gathered in the main hall for a meeting to find out what had happened.

Xie Hong Chen's side of what happened was quite different from the truth as he embellished everything that occurred:

*Flash Start*

"Elders, master, sect brothers, and sisters, I profoundly lament to bring you terrible news, my dear cousin and sect brother, Xie Yan, has suffered terrible injuries, and brothers Guo Wen, Jiang Lin, and Xu Rong passed away"

"What?!..."

"Huh?"

"Three disciples of the great elder died?"

"And that genius disciple ended up severely injured?"

"I can't believe it!"

"This... he said that brother Xie Yan is seriously injured, how badly injured, will he survive?"

"Did I hear correctly?"

"Yes, he said that..., I heard it too."

"Impossible, Brother Xie Yan is the greatest genius of our sect along with Sister Su Yan."

"Exactly, moreover, it is well known that Xie Yan is very precious to Master Wei Xi Tong, no one would go so far as to dare to seriously injure him."

"..."

"Xie Hong Chen, explain to me what exactly happened?" one of the sect elders present finally intervened and asked silencing the crowd in the sect's main hall.

"Let me explain what happened. On our gathering mission, we encountered a 4th Order beast and despite our hardest efforts we were unable to deal with it, and in the process, three disciples were killed, during the entire fight, we were overwhelmed by the ferocity of the beast. The situation became more and more dangerous, and I was forced to consider a momentary retreat to evaluate the situation and seek help...and in a moment of confusion and desperation, my survival instinct prompted me to make a difficult decision," explained Xie Hong Chen.

"I just happened to see an opportunity for us to retreat to prevent the massacre from continuing. However, in the middle of the chaos I did not take into account that Brother Xie Yan would not be able to match our retreat speed. I intended to rush back to support my cousin and sect brother, but by the time I returned, it was too late and Xie Yan had suffered a terrible injury..." Xie Hong Chen finished his explanation.

"So that's what happened..." sighed one of the elders as he shook his head at the situation that had been explained.

Everyone in the main hall was quite surprised by what had happened as it was not common to encounter an aggressive 4th Order beast unless you were very unlucky or someone had stolen something it was guarding thus causing it to rage.

"I deeply regret not being there to support my cousin at that critical moment, and I am willing to accept whatever punishment you consider appropriate for my big mistake, one that ended up affecting my dear sect brother. I have learned a valuable lesson and promise to do my best to make amends for my mistake and protect all our sect brothers in future confrontations. I deeply regret my failure and hope I can redeem myself in front of all of you" said Xie Hong Chen bowing in apology in a very convincing manner.

Jason was pretty sure that everything he had said was nothing but excuses and most likely he was even the one who provoked this 4th Order beast and then used the other disciples as bait to escape.

Jason observed how in the room where Xie Yan was now standing wounded together with the rest of the disciples in front of the elders many murmurs could be heard commenting on what had happened, but finally, one of the elders stood up and spoke.

"Disciple Xie Hong Cheng, the death of three disciples and the serious injuries of disciple Xie Yan at the hands of this beast is a tragedy, but death is a natural thing that may happen in any battle and everyone should remember and get used to this"

"As for your actions in leaving a disciple and sect brother behind, well, you are still young and we have all made mistakes at some point in our lives. The important thing is to recognize them and learn from them," said the fifth elder causing the rest of the elders to nod in agreement.

"I agree with the fifth elder and I also think I speak for everyone when I say that I appreciate your sincerity in reporting and explaining what happened in that confrontation"

"Although your decision to abandon disciple Xie Yan was impulsive, I understand that you were under great pressure and that your intentions were to protect your fellow disciples. However, you must understand that the true value of a cultivator lies in loyalty and mutual support in these situations. By abandoning your sect brother, you betrayed that trust" finally said Wei Xi Tong who was extremely angry and frustrated with the current situation as Xie Yan was the one he trusted the sect's future and was convinced that the young man would go to great heights in his cultivation.

"From now on, it is crucial that you strive to make amends for your mistake. Learn from this experience and work hard to demonstrate your commitment and loyalty to all your sect brothers. From now on, I will assign you additional tasks and guide you on your path to redemption. Remember, martial cultivation is not only about skills but also about cultivating heart and character. I hope to see a positive change in you, Xie Hong Chen" ended great Elder Wei Xi Tong with a tired sigh.

"I am deeply grateful for the second chance and I pledge to fulfill whatever the great elder assigns to me" nodded Xie Hong Chen instantly bowing gratefully to his master.

"Alright disciples, today's meeting ends here, you all may leave, for now I and the other elders will discuss privately about this matter" announced the second elder causing the crowd of disciples to disperse quickly.

*Flash End*

After this whole drama, young Xie Yan's life turned to hell, at the end of his third year and before starting his fourth year he had to leave the sect and return to the Xie family because he could no longer cultivate.

And finally, two years later, after living through a terrible hell since he had been crippled, he ended up seriously injured again and reached the point where he had lost all his willpower to keep on living, so he collapsed, convinced that this was the end for him.

At the same instant that Xie Yan collapsed, Jason Frost felt that everything around him seemed to become a blur.

It seems that this was the moment when the system had finished integrating all the memories and then Jason became unconscious again.

...

...

In Shadow Blue Village, a small town in the Great Han Dynasty, there was a gorgeous 35-year-old widowed woman named Yue Lina. She possessed a captivating beauty, with short black hair and deep, mysterious gray eyes. Her skin was smooth as velvet, and her slender figure was accentuated by delicate dresses in soft tones. A charming smile illuminated her face.

Yeah, she was an intriguing and captivating woman.

Yue Lina wasn't only known for her charm but also for being the nurse at the Medicine Pavilion in the village, where she used to help the local doctor treat some of the patients.

And all the patients in the village were looking forward to her care.

Today she had started her shift and as every last day she went with a beautiful smile to the room of one of her favorite patients, it was a pity that the young man was in a coma.

"Huh?!" as she entered the room she thought she saw the patient make some movement but quickly dismissed it as her mere imagination.

The nurse, Yue Lina, stood by the bedside of the patient she used to attend, her eyes fixed on his motionless form. The doctor's words echoed in her mind: "It's unlikely he'll wake up."

She approached the handsome young man's face to gently wipe his face with her delicate hands using a wet cloth.

'Poor boy, I can't imagine what he had to go through to end up in this state being so young and handsome...' thought Yue Lina as she looked with a mischievous spark in her gray eyes at the patient she had personally cared for the last few days.

She remembered that the doctor had mentioned that the young man was suffering from "Conversion disorder with coma", a very rare medical and mental condition in which the person was already mostly recovered physically and should be able to wake up from the coma, but despite this, he still presented an apparent coma state, in which he was unconscious and unresponsive to external stimuli as if he was in a real coma and there was nothing that explained the lack of response.

The doctor had explained that now the problem was no longer the physical cause and that now the young man's condition was merely related to mental and emotional factors.

Apparently the young man's mind "converts" or transforms stress or emotional conflicts into physical or neurological symptoms.

And although it is a highly unpredictable condition, from the few cases the doctor had seen or heard of, once a person enters this state there is only a 90% likelihood that he or she will wake up.

For this very reason, Yue Lina was taking some freedom in the care of this specific patient.

She would not only check that everything was fine with the young man, but she would also take the time to personally clean the young man's body, as well as change his clothes.

Naturally, these were not her real duties since she usually only took care of some basic patient needs, but since the young man in front of her was rather good-looking and had a nice build since he once was a cultivator and also since no one expected him to wake up, she had decided to take the opportunity to give him a more... special and careful care.

It had been a few years since Yue Lina had lost her husband and since then she had never been with another man or even seen another man naked, so having such an attractive young man in her care was practically a bargain for her.

As she slowly and gently wiped his face, she suddenly noticed a slight movement in the patient's eyes.

"Wa!" the nurse was so shocked and surprised that she fell on her butt.

After a few seconds, she overcame her shock and stood up to observe the young man again and now she noticed a slight movement in the patient's fingers, followed by a deep breath. Her heart skipped a beat, and she leaned in closer, hardly daring to believe what she was witnessing.

"Oh, my heavens, Th-this... H-he...he awoke!" she gasped with her hands trembling when she saw him start to open his eyes.

"Doctor! Doctor! Come quickly! He's waking up!" Her voice was filled with astonishment and excitement as she called for the medical team.

As the doctor and other nurses rushed in, Yue Lina took a step back, her eyes still fixed on the patient, who was slowly blinking and trying to focus. Her face flushed with a mix of surprise, embarrassment, and relief, she whispered to herself, "This is incredible..."
