Chaos School of the Undead

Ethan, an eighteen-year-old boy who dies from brain cancer, finds himself reincarnated in the body of a fifteen-year-old boy, Stefan Hodstev, on another earth, in the midst of a war between humans and the Vocras— demonic creatures who were once humans, but for thirst for power and immortality traded their souls to the demon Vocratis. A demon who had sought to take over the world for over three thousand years. As Stefan grapples with his newfound existence, he inherits the knowledge of the boy whose body he now inhabits, and he soon realizes that this world is nothing like the Earth he was from. Here, the line between life and death is blurred, and the dead never truly die. But the ultimate shock awaited him as he raced desperately to find safety. Running as fast as his legs could carry, he caught a glimpse of his reflection in a tarnished, spectral mirror, but what stared back at him was enough to make his very essence teeter on the precipice of oblivion. Stefan does not look like the humans he had seen fighting for their lives, rather... He was what was chasing them.

D Level Vocra

"Ding! Ding! Ding!"

The loud ringing of the assembly bell sounded from the bell tower, causing the students to start running to the assembly ground.

"It's a code red! What's going on?" Stefan overheard a student shout as he brushed past him.

"Thad, we have to go; you can settle scores later," Lou said as she lightly patted Thad on the shoulder.

Thad unclenched his fists and pushed Stefan with both hands, causing him to stumble backward.

"Consider today your lucky day. You won't be this lucky next time!" He spat and then turned around, walking away, with the other boys following.

Lou breathed out, "It seems you've finally grown some balls Stefan. Don't get kicked out; I'd love to see what you're made of. And maybe…" Her voice lowered as she closed the gap between them, leaning into his ear, she whispered;

"We might have a chance..."

Stefan had never been so disgusted by anyone in his entire life.

Now, looking at her, she didn't seem that pretty. She just had a huge chest that seemed to divert attention from her face.

"Alright, I have to go now. See you around." She smiled and strutted off.

After they had left, Stefan breathed a sigh of relief.

Now, what is a code red?

He looked around for the first time. The school premises was vast. A large hectare of field on the right and left sides, and in the middle, it was paved with smooth white stones that led up to three magnificent edifices made of crystal and rare stones.

There was a large banner made of stone in front of the three magnificent buildings, and on it was inscribed with gold;

'Welcome to the School of Chaos'

The building in the middle was the largest, with two other smaller ones on each side.

On each side of the white-paved road, there were huge cherry blossom trees, their petals cascading to the ground.

Stefan stopped walking and closed his eyes, breathing in. Even though this place was filled with monsters, brimming with doom. Even though there was great uncertainty about who he was or what he would become, he preferred this life to his former one.

In this life, he was not in pain. In this life, he could walk on his two feet. But most importantly, in this life, he did not wish to die.

"Argh!"

Stefan was jerked from his thoughts when someone bumped into him.

He turned around, and his eyes met a petite figure.

Stefan frowned, "What's wrong with everyone here? You just bumped into me; can you not apologize?"

The girl frowned but did not say a word. Stefan looked her up and down. She had long silver-colored hair pulled into a ponytail, big eyes that seemed larger than anything else on her face, a small nose, and big, plump lips as red as bell peppers. She was about 5 feet 3 inches tall and looked very petite.

Stefan sighed and decided to let it go. The girl looked too fragile, like she could break any second. He had more important issues to focus on. Taking a mental note of her face, he turned and walked away.

Now, where is the dean's office?

The sun was almost fully set, and he could see a faint glimpse of the moon. He needed to see the dean before it got dark.

Stefan looked ahead and saw a few students running towards the magnificent building, so he decided to follow them.

Stefan followed them through the middle building and into the ground floor. The ground floor of the middle building had no rooms; it was just a wide lobby with pillars engraved with spells. In between each pillar stood different giant crystal statues.

Stefan looked around as he hurried to join the others. They walked through two huge floor-to-ceiling doors and entered a wide expanse of land. There were five magnificent crystal houses placed strategically at a pentagonal angle to each other, and in the middle of the buildings, the students gathered.

There were murmurs among the students as they wondered why the code red bell had been rung.

Stefan stood quietly behind the crowd, trying to listen in on the discussion. Suddenly, someone bumped into him again.

Turning around, his eyes met the same doll-shaped eyes he had seen a few minutes ago.

"It is you again? Do you enjoy bumping into people? And without apologizing, too?"

The girl stared at him and then bit her lower lip, without uttering a word, she walked away.

Stefan frowned, "What's wrong with her?"

Before she walked off, he noticed her epaulette was green. Green came after blue in ranking, so she was stronger than Thad…

For her body size, that was impressive, but what was wrong with her? Was she mute or something?

"Welcome, everyone. I'm sure this assembly must have caught you unawares. We have bad news."

Stefan's thoughts were interrupted when he heard a voice speaking from the podium. He turned to the person and immediately recognized him.

He was the Dean, one of the few people who allowed him to stay in the school even without his powers.

Stefan knew why; his parents were the top contributors to the school, and he knew they would withdraw their funding if he was expelled, so they let him stay even without his powers.

Dean Macau was a slim, short man with long white beards. He had no hair on his head.

Rumors had it that he sacrificed his hair to break into the seventh realm in the realm of shadows. Stefan wasn't sure if he believed that, but it seemed like the only plausible explanation for why a man in his fifties would suddenly lose all his hair.

"A D-level Vocra has entered the school and is hiding among us."

The murmuring among the students increased as they stared at each other, panic written on their faces.

"Why is everyone scared?" Stefan leaned closer to a male student who looked approachable and asked.

The boy sighed, and scrunched his nose;

"D-level Vocras and higher level Vocras can hide their form and blend in like normal people. Some have special abilities to take on the faces of people they kill and take over their lives. We don't know what we are dealing with, that's why everyone is afraid."
