Chaos School of the Undead

Ethan, an eighteen-year-old boy who dies from brain cancer, finds himself reincarnated in the body of a fifteen-year-old boy, Stefan Hodstev, on another earth, in the midst of a war between humans and the Vocras— demonic creatures who were once humans, but for thirst for power and immortality traded their souls to the demon Vocratis. A demon who had sought to take over the world for over three thousand years. As Stefan grapples with his newfound existence, he inherits the knowledge of the boy whose body he now inhabits, and he soon realizes that this world is nothing like the Earth he was from. Here, the line between life and death is blurred, and the dead never truly die. But the ultimate shock awaited him as he raced desperately to find safety. Running as fast as his legs could carry, he caught a glimpse of his reflection in a tarnished, spectral mirror, but what stared back at him was enough to make his very essence teeter on the precipice of oblivion. Stefan does not look like the humans he had seen fighting for their lives, rather... He was what was chasing them.

Awake

"I didn't know what to do with you, so I brought you here," the girl said, walking to the bed, a cup of water in her hand. She crossed her legs and sipped from it.

"Thanks for saving my life," Stefan replied as he tried to sit up.

Contrary to his expectations, he felt no pain. He touched his heart where he had been stabbed but there was nothing.

"That should be the other way round, Stefan," the girl said, placing the cup on the side table and looking at him.

"I should thank you for saving my life. I didn't realize the girl was the Vocra, I've not attained that level of perception yet, and so, was taken by surprise. I don't know what would've happened if you weren't there."

Stefan nodded.

"You are welcome. I wouldn't have stood by and watched someone get hurt when I could help."

"However, don't put yourself in harm's way for someone else. What if she had killed you?"

Stefan blinked. He did not think about that then. All he wanted to do then was save the girl.

"Well, that's true. She was a D-level Vocra. I acted impulsively."

Silence filled the room as the girl stared at him.

"She mentioned that you are a…"

Her words trailed off. For about a minute, they locked eyes in silence, and then Stefan cleared his throat.

"The thing is… when I left the school, I lost my memories. I woke up in the midst of dead people. I don't know how I got there nor what happened to me. I didn't know that I was a Vocra until she said it. I know this sounds strange and unbelievable but I need you to believe me."

There was silence again as the girl scrutinized his face, as though searching for the truth.

Stefan wasn't sure he could trust her, but she knew he was a Vocra and did not report to the council. So that meant, at least, to some extent, she was more trustworthy than the others he had met.

"Even if I want to believe you, no one will. You'll be killed if anyone finds out."

The girl's voice was soft, and calm. She seemed a bit too relaxed for someone that just found out he was a Vocra. As though she was sure that he posed no threat.

"You heard the Vocra, I have broken the soul contract."

"Yes, I heard. How did you do that? It's literally impossible. Even the highest mage cannot save a Vocra once he has turned."

Stefan was sure he broke the soul contract when he entered this body, but he kept that information to himself. If it sounded this crazy to him, anyone else would seem him mad.

"I don't know. I lost my memories. I can only remember my name."

The girl pursed her lips, and smiled.

"You don't know who I am?"

Stefan shook his head.

"Sincerely, I do not. But given that you have a room to yourself, you must be a noble or royalty funding the school."

The girl smiled. "This is interesting." She said before standing up.

Stefan's eyes followed her. She was already wearing her uniform, but she wasn't putting on any socks.

Her skirt was real short and stopped just underneath her butt. She was small in size, and although her voice was soft, it carried an air of confidence with it. Stefan couldn't help but notice the elegance in her every move – each step a delicate, graceful progression, her hips swaying with a captivating charisma. He was convinced she was from a privileged background.

The girl walked to the closet and grabbed her socks and black flat shoes, returning to the bed.

"You've been asleep for two days Stefan."

The girl spoke casually as she slipped her sock over her right leg, her movements were deliberate yet subtly suggestive.

It was as if she effortlessly blended a touch of seduction with her usual natural demeanor.

Stefan's eyes widened;

"Two days?!"

The Dean must have been looking for him. He did not realize he had been asleep for so long.

"I need to leave now!"

"Yes, you do, but you need to know what to say when you get out of here."

Stefan, who was about jumping off the bed, sat back down. She was right, he could not afford to reveal himself.

"Thankfully, no one saw you kill the Vocra."

Stefan looked at the girl, who was pulling on her second sock.

"Really? No one knows?"

"Yeah, everyone had gone for dinner that night. Thankfully, no one was lurking around the dorms for fear of being killed, so no one saw you. For now, you are safe."

Stefan breathed out, he was grateful for her.

"Thank you so much. I owe you."

"You don't Stefan, that was my way of thanking you for saving my life, and well, for bumping into you twice in a roll." She smiled softly.

"Thank you." Stefan appreciated again.

"The council is still searching for who killed the Vocra. I did not want to say a thing until you woke up, do you want to tell them?"

"No, given the situation, I want to keep it low till I've figured myself out."

"Alright. I have a class now. Thankfully, the Dean has been out of town, and I don't think many people know of your return, so you can go back and pretend nothing happened."

"Thanks a lot… what is your name?"

"You can call me Fly."

"Thank you Fly for everything, I would be on my way now."

Stefan stood up, his eyes scanned his clothes and he gulped. He had been on the same clothes for two days, so he looked real rusty.

Standing in front of the girl, looking this rusty made him a little embarrassed.

"Do you perhaps know the male dorm? I actually don't remember a thing."

The girl chuckled; "Two buildings to the right."

"Okay, thank you."

Stefan scratched the back of his hair and then turned to the door;

"See you around, Fly."

He said and smiled a little before walking out the door.
