112 The dinner party - VI

She fell silent.

It was not just that she felt silent physically. Her mind was silent as well. Even if a thousand questions were running in her mind Evelyn numbly sat in her place.

Somehow it made sense to marry Salvatore and there was only, unlike before, a small part of her that it was against the idea. 

Before the whole conversation Evelyn was adamantly against the idea of marrying someone just for protection or because of the fact that she had not fallen in love with him. Now you think about it, why couldn't she marry Salvatore? 

"Why don't you take some time and think about it, Evelyn?" Angelo leaned back on his chair and Evelyn suddenly did not feel his shrewd eyes upon her. 

It was like there had been a change. It was like the entire atmosphere of the room had changed. From daunting, it had gone to something more coming and just normal. 

What just happened?
