Chapter 35 "Dao Techniques"

Calm before the storm, that was how Black Deity was right now.

Everyone knew about the upcoming battle but no one discussed it. As if not thinking about it would make it go away. Only if reality was this colorful.

On the other hand, those who had real power in the sect were worried.

Anri was busy arranging all the outer disciples.

Most of them were sent back to their homes but some were willing to stay in the sect. For them, the sect was their home.

They were taken into sect when they were kids and sect gave them a chance, a chance to live in this cold and cruel world.

Although elders were strict, and senior brothers were bullies but at the end of the day they were their mentors, just like a family.

Although the outer disciples were young and weak, they could at least contribute to defense formation.

All disciples and elders well versed in defensive spells were casting different layers of defense. A minor effort but sometimes this minor effort can save lives.

Who knows what tomorrow has stored for them but as for today they wouldn't rest and would keep working as hard as they can.

But there would always be an exception. One person, sometimes he would just sleep outside by the lake or would sleep on the food table in the inn. Disciples either saw him sleeping or other time idling around in the sect.

Yes. Unfortunately, he was their young master and also key to their survival in the upcoming battle.

The one who should be under tremendous pressure was most relaxed right now.

At first female disciples were quite wary of him because of his bad reputation for visiting brothels but when the more they interacted with him the more they saw him as an ordinary person.

No one would believe that he had a strong enough heart to pass all stages of truth formation. He looked like an ordinary mortal a mortal free of any worldly concerns.

"What do you want?"

Su Ling asked the boy.

He was taking care of inner sect disciples when the boy suddenly called for him.

Inner disciples were under a lot of pressure. Unlike outer disciples, inner disciple's cultivation would contribute a lot to the battle. So they were trying their best to break through to the next realm.

Even the difference of a single cultivation realm would mean a lot on their level. Su Ling was giving them pointers on cultivation so that they can avoid any permanent damage to their cultivation base while going through 'the rushed breakthrough'.

"I also want to prepare for the upcoming battle so I would like to cultivate a few techniques. Since this world's cultivation is completely unfamiliar for me."

The boy explained to him in simple manners.

The boy didn't want to cultivate dao techniques from his universe. It would be wearying to cultivate old techniques.

Wouldn't it be boring to learn all over again what you had learned and perfected before and even created most of it?

Since the dao here was different than that of his home, so it couldn't be any better to have a new start in terms of dao techniques. And of course, it wouldn't be like he would forget old techniques.

"Cultivating new techniques? at this point when the enemy would come knocking at our door any second, you want to cultivate new techniques?"

Su Ling knew not what to say.

First, this boy keeps wasting his own time loitering around and suddenly he wants to cultivate techniques. Like it is some walk in the park.

"I didn't call you here for your nagging."

"Then why did you call me? To give you some pointers on cultivation techniques."

Su Ling was staring into the boy's yellow abyssal eyes.

"YOU giving ME pointers! Let's see kid, you are a thousand, no, a million-year younger to give me pointers in cultivation. I just called you because I needed a guide to bring me to the dao repository."

"..." Hearing that Su Ling was angry to the point that he wanted to beat the crap out of this boy.

He was guiding his juniors where every minute counted and his 'young master' wants him to be a guide. HIM a fucking GUIDE!

But instead of erupting out and teaching this kid a lesson or two, Su Ling calmly rejected him.

"Don't you know the way to the dao repository already?"

"Well if I were to sprint to the repository in my full speed then given my cultivation I would reach there in half a month and I don't think there would be any repository left to speak of then when the upcoming battle could start in any minute."

The boy replied Su Ling with a cheerful smile on his face. In the end, he wanted Su Ling, not as a guide rather as transport.

"Don't forget I am your young master and after the battle, you would belong to me. So take this as a chance to familiarize yourself with your glorious young master."

The boy's face was still beaming with a smile, begging to be punched.

"Hmph" Su Ling didn't have any energy to waste in blabbering with this boy so he simply grabbed him by his shoulder and flew away.

His cultivation realm allowed him to fly at high speed even while carrying a burden with him.

Soon they arrived at Dao Repository. A magnificent building, unlike the treasury which was in another space.

But exposure didn't mean it was unprotected. Since it had all the dao techniques of the black deity sect so it was well guarded.

"The repository is divided into 4 wings:-

°east wing has cultivation manuals

°west wing has spell collection for mages

°north wing includes martial art techniques

°south wing has, although limited in number but still one of the largest collection of physique base cultivation manuals"

As the name suggested, cultivation manuals and physiques base cultivation manual were the techniques used to cultivate worldy energy and the physique base respectively.

While spells were only limited to mages and it included from the basic manual used to engrave the circle in the heart, to many spells used for minor purposes like heating one's home or cleaning the dress.

That's why learning magic was easier than cultivation but it was much more vast.

Even a 2nd circle mage would have to learn thousands of spells to be of any help in a fight not to mention the mindset of choosing and using the necessary spell in a split second.

On the other hand martial arts technique, they offer great power. It ranges from simple martial art techniques of copying the animal movements to strong dao techniques of bringing out the sun out of nowhere to destroy your adversary.

Of course, the black deity had no such technique or it wouldn't be facing such a situation. Or maybe the higher ranking elders and sect master do have but surely it's not available to even inner disciples.

"So what do you want to cultivate. I personally prefer you to cultivate a strong attacking spell or on the other hand a defending one like the famous "Golden bull skin".

"Huh! why would I be cultivating some defensive spells?" The boy asked as if he was genuinely surprised.

"Because~ spells are faster and easier to cultivate than the martial techniques and right now we hardly have any time to shit much less cultivating martial arts."

As Su Ling was getting impatient the more he was losing his gentle tone.

But before Su Ling could get any more impatient the boy nodded firmly.

"Yeah, you are absolutely right."

' ~smile~ did he got intimidated by my serious tone.' Su Ling thought.

"You are right I recently didn't have any time to shit, never thought sleeping and loitering around could be such a busy work."

"You!"

Contrary to Su Ling's expectations the boy begins to walk toward the martial art techniques wing.

Soon he was greeted by a sea of books. Since it was the lower floor so it had the weakest martial arts techniques suitable for those with cultivation realm up to body reforging. And that explains their number.
