1 History of the Town

In 1875 Running Whitehorse met Cameron and Shelly Chance parents of Alana. The couple took a liking to Running and gave him a job. Through the years Running learned a great deal of farming and ranching from Cameron.

As years passed Running had grown up with Cameron's youngest daughter Alana Chance. In their early 20's Running and Alana fell in love having many troubles and trials of acceptance in the small town. Their love was so deep and so obvious that with much talk between Cameron and Running the approval of the marriage between Running and Alana was given. By then end of the following year John Cameron Whitehorse was born.

Through out the small to settlements close to Cameron Chance's settlement several of the people were dieing due to no medical doctor. Due to sickness and a bad winter Cameron and Shelly Chance passed away. During the same time Jameson and Grace Johnson, parents of Anna Johnson met the same fate which had been the cause of Jameson's death as well. Financial burdens had forced Grace to seek work that included a place to live for her and her daughter. Alana had fallen ill at this time which led Running to hire a Grace as his housekeeper to help tend his wife and son. Allowing him to take care of the Farm and Ranch. This misfortune had been a veiled blessing as it gave Grace and her daughter a place to live. Within mere months of Grace being hired Alana passed away due to her condition becoming worse. With all the work of running a farm and ranch Running chose to keep Grace on. As to show her gratitude of Running's kindness Grace signed over her late husband's ranch.

With the inheritance from Alana's parents over time Running began buying the settlements of those that chose to leave the secluded wilderness for the settlements down in the towns closer to the modern medicine. This gave Running the surrounding mountainside and the valley to call his own.

Time passed as John and Anna grew up together becoming the closest of friends, but due to the haunting past Anna had chosen to go to college to become a doctor while John went to become a Veterinarian. As the two finished college both returned home to help those of the surrounding towns as well as Running's Farm and Ranch. During this time the Farm and Ranch had grown and was declared a town named Chance, Montana after Cameron Chance.

After returning home from college John and Anna began to let their friendship grow from that of friends to a loving couple that adored one another. Feeling great joy from the choice of John and Anna, Running upon the great news of Anna's pregnancy, gave the town of Chance to John and Anna. Due to his age the night Anna gave birth to Barry and Shelly Whitehorse, Running passed away in his sleep with a smile at what Alana and he created with their love.
