7 Image of Alex Waterflower and Author Note

I have shared the image of Alex Waterflower in the comments. This is a good approximation of what I imagined Alex would look like. This image was generated by Retribrutus on Spacebattles.

I also want to apologize for this long delay but I don't think I will be able to post the next chapter till at least the 15th of December. My finals started yesterday and while I had hoped that I would be able to finish and post chapter 7 before my finals began, I haven't been able to find the time.

Still, the chapter frequency should increase after that as the winter break would allow me more time. I will also try to create a backlog of chapters to make my release schedule somewhat stable.

I also wanted to share some of my thoughts on exploiting meta knowledge. I have a slightly different take on the issue. Instead of exploiting meta knowledge to its full potential, I believe the MC with meta knowledge should exploit it to his full advantage.

Just because he knows how to evolve Electabuzz into Electrivire, Ursaring to Ursaluna and Rhydon to Rhyperior doesn't mean he should disclose this information ever. This may be helpful to trainers like Surge, Giovanni and many others and telling them this might gain him a favour or two but there is not enough potential upside for him. These evolutions are literally priceless. It really bugs me when a MC just barters this invaluable information to other canon characters for inane stupid things like catching a common pokemon or being helpful.

Everyone knows just how game changing these evolutions are and the favours MC gains in return is nowhere near as valuable. He would just be strengthening potential enemies without gaining all that much in return. That is not even considering how he explains this priceless information about pokemon he has absolutely nothing to do with. If he uses the Gym family excuse, it just paints a bigger target on their back and may incentivise some people that the risk of retaliation may be worth it for this seemingly endless reserve of priceless information.

It is much better to not say anything and let nature take its course and let the scientists figure it out ... if they ever do figure out some evolutions like Ursaluna. Any MC should also realize the importance of pacing. I mean how idiotic would he have to be to go around screaming the existence of Fairy Types when he has just started his journey. Types are a fundamental aspect of pokemon and any change to this would require either a lot of power or a lot of credibility if not both (cough ... Oak ... cough).

Moreover, currently the benefits of announcing this type does not outweigh the costs. Anyone who makes this information widespread will undoubtedly gain the eternal hate of each and every dragon type trainer and enthusiast. I am not saying he will never help support the recognition of Fairy types, he just won't rush into it.

The same with ancient Pokemon in the Grampa Canyon. It is much better for him to be established, powerful, and popular enough before he makes this discovery. So when he makes the discovery the headline will not be "Ancient Pokemon Rediscovered"... it will be "Alex Waterflower rediscovers Ancient Pokemon". Moreover, there is no urgency. There are still 5 years left till Ash turns 12 and so the ancient pokemon are not going anywhere.

I am sorry for this rant but I really dislike it when MC just give out their meta knowledge like candy to any canon character they come across. What do you think about my take on the issue? Is my take a bit too conservative and secretive or do you like how cautious he will be regarding his meta knowledge??

I had previously posted this on Spacebattles which is a much better platform for me to respond to your reviews and suggestions. My pen name on that site is DarthPrince. The story is under the same name there : Champion of the Sea (Pokemon SI).
