The Exiled

It sounded like the wind was whistling in the deep, dark and damp cave. As they continued forward they began to see a semblance of light. They continued until it eventually grew brighter and illuminated the main area of the cave. In this main area, the light seemed to be coming from these small balls of flame on the side of the cave walls. They seemed to burn with endless vigour. There was also a shiny black box in one corner of the cave. This black box had a golden seal placed on it. Revan kneeled down and tried to open it but it wouldn't budge at all, even after exerting more strength it didn't show any signs of opening.

The other corner of the cave had something as well. Penelope was already in that corner, marvelling at the object in front of her. Revan left the black box for now and went over to Penelope.

Revan: The black box doesn't seem like it can be opened using brute force. What did you find over there?

Penelope waved her hand at Revan, "Come over and take a look."

In front of Penelope there was a small ditch filled with gold. Not physical gold.... it looked like flowing liquid gold. It was beautiful and sparkled at certain angles because of the light in the cave. It didn't flow very fast, it's movement speed was slow like maple syrup, it's viscosity was quite high.

Penelope reached her hand out but Revan pulled it back in. "Don't touch that liquid, we don't know what it is and we can't be sure that it's safe. The black box and gold liquid are cool but there's still something much more important. I almost missed it because it was so far back at the end of the cave but look over there."

Revan pointed towards a corpse towards the back and centre of the cave.

Penelope let out a little squeal, "Ah what's that!"

Revan rushed over and covered her mouth. "Don't be too loud, we don't know if there is anyone or anything inside or near the cave that can hear and hurt us."

Penelope gathered her wits and calmed herself down. "Sorry, I wasn't thinking. But.... do you know what that.... thing.... is?"

Revan: It looks like it's someone's corpse that's been here for a long long time. His flesh is gone and all that's left are his bones. Here, let me get a closer look...

Penelope was a bit freaked out and wanted to go back into her cozy room as soon as possible. "Uhh, shouldn't we head back now? It's at least night already and everyone should be sleeping."
