64 Chapter 64

After eliminating all the assassins at the destroyed location site, Sam reaped the rewards of his mission, one of which was a Legendary Tier Item.

[Can Cut Everything: A sword that can cut through anything, even time-space]

'So, it's like Yamato,' Sam thought, narrowing his eyebrows. Currently standing alone while Makima led everyone to restore order, he summoned a long katana with a black sheath from thin air. Holding both katanas, he unsheathed them.

'Two swords style.'

Due to his high level of swordsmanship, Sam effortlessly wielded the two swords. The Yamato sword, a name he preferred, emitted a blue ray of energy with each swing, creating a sensation of cutting through space-time, which swiftly closed on its own.

He sheathed the two swords and leaped off the building. All eyes were on him from every direction.

"Isn't that the Devil Hunter who fought the puppets?"

"They say he was left alone back in hell."

"They say he faced the Hell Devil in hell and came back on his own."

"How's that possible? The Hell Devil is strong."

"Then why is he here?"

"That's legendary!"

Sam could hear the whispers among his colleagues and normal citizens, most eyes fixed on him.

So, that's the power of a title. Wherever he went, admiration followed him.

He stopped upon spotting the team he had gathered to protect Denji, consisting of Aki, Himeno, Tendo, and Yutaro. They weren't particularly useful in the last mission, but they had done well to stay alive.

'Where is that fast woman and her harem? I need to clarify a few things with her.' Sam looked left and right. His devil sense told him they weren't here, meaning they had escaped. Sam sighed, eager for a round three against that lesbian and maybe set her straight.

A few days later, the entire Public Safety building was relocated. Sam, lying on the ground, read a message on his phone instructing him to come to the office. Meowy slept on his stomach, and Power practiced motivational speak to scam followers into buying a course, 200$.

Sam nudged Meowy, still sleeping on the ground.

"I'm leaving," he told Power, who stopped, cleared her throat, and stared at him with narrowed eyebrows.

"I thought we were going to make an interview about how your subconscious mind helped you unlock your new powers with my help."

"Idiots can wait," Sam said, donning his coat. "But what about my mommy?"

"You have a mom?"

"Yes. I drank her milk just a few days ago," Sam replied, leaving, leaving Power speechless. Power took a deep breath, shook her head, and went back to reading her motivational speech.

Sam entered the new Public Safety building, drawing admiration glances. He knew he had reached the peak of humanity, and everyone knew it. However, they didn't know that Makima held the entire country's security in her hands, potentially using it as a hostage. Playing the hero and villain simultaneously sounded appealing. It's like they become the government. Well, they did.

Without knocking, Sam entered Makima's office. She stared at him for a while without speaking.

"What?" he asked, closing the door.

"You didn't even knock," Makima said, earning a chuckle from Sam.

"You would tell me to open it before knocking anyway," he replied.

She sighed, "and you took that fun away."

"Sorry, next time, I'll knock." Sam sat on her desk. "So, why have you called me?"

"Can't I call my fiancé for no reason?" she asked.

"You never did," Sam replied, playfully running his fingers through her orange-pink hair.

She took a deep breath, a smile on her face. "After the last days, it would be a good time to officially turn into husband and wife."

"So you called to discuss the wedding?" Sam said, putting his hand under his chin. "What's with it?"

"What do you mean, what's with it? We'll announce our wedding, get married next week, have our honeymoon, and then live together happily until judgment night."

"I'm going to hell, am I not?" Sam said, tears forming in his eyes.

"You sounded happy back when you were there, no?" Makima said, pinching his nose and moving his head up and down.

"You've got a point," Sam said, taking a deep breath. "Anyway, when do we get started?" He didn't mind getting married to her now. As a semi-immortal man, he needed a semi-immortal woman, and he didn't care if she was a devil, as she had passed the weight requirements.

"I've already sent the invitations. Nobody would mess with you or me. So I figured there was no better time than now."

"I see," Sam said, his hand moving from her hair to her neck. "Wanna have a teaser on the wedding night?"

She chuckled. "Sure, just lock the door."

Meanwhile, many countries had heard about the incident in Japan after sending their best assassins to take Denji. Not only did they fail, but they also learned about a new existence: Sam Lee, a swordsman devil hunter who went to hell and defeated the Hell Devil. He became a legend, raising the bounty on his head from 1 billion to 7 billion.

But the worst news had yet to come.

He and Makima had just announced their wedding in a week.

An alliance that shouldn't happen, or else the nations would lose the balance between powers.

A man stood on top of a building, looking at the people below.

"To protect my people's freedom and to kill Makima and Sam, I give you a two-year lifespan from every citizen of the US."
