61 Chapter 61

Sam stood up in front of the Hell Devil that materialized from thin air.

It was a boss battle.

And he had prepared himself.

[Strength up to 30] [Tier 3]

[HP 1000/1000]

[Wisdom up to 30] [Tier 3]

[MP 1500/1500]

[Agility up to 31] [Tier 3]

[Any point above Tier 3 is equal to 3 points to Tier 1]

Sam flapped his sword, and he looked at the Hell Devil. "By the way, Hell Devil, I heard some of you devils can tell how much human has left to live if they were asked. So how much do you think I have to live?"

The fire burned brighter. With a howling voice, the devil said, "Not as much as you think."

Sam smirked and squatted. The devil crossed a large distance with one step. Using flash step, Sam appeared backward. When he unsheathed his sword, it moved in many directions, releasing a vortex of blades. Normally, it would cut through flesh as if it were tofu. But to the Hell Devil, it only created a few deep wounds, which were recovered instantly.

"Interesting visitor I have here," the Hell Devil said, "I can find some uses for you after you die."

"You're not Mandus. So stop pretending as if you can do shit." Sam, using Wind Footwork, moved around while releasing a series of air blades. He tried to make the battle a ranged one, to study his opponent and see what he could do against him later. Like a wise man online once said, know your enemy, know yourself, and a thousand battles won't be a trouble. He didn't know if Tzu, the writer of the Art of War, said it since many people like to spread bullshit online, but it was deep, and that was enough for him.

The Hell Devil moved on his four around, avoiding the attacks while making his way toward Sam. Once it got nearer, it opened its mouth. A large red fire left it and covered a wide area, which could burn a whole city to ashes, and headed toward Sam.

'How am I supposed to defend against that?'

Sam turned. The wind around him turned into lightning, and his skin turned almost red as he began to run. The fire was chasing after him, but it didn't get him.

'Speed came in handy. For the first time, I'm glad that I focused on it to pick up a fight against that assassin.' Sam thought. Now he remembered what Makima had said about the Hell Devil not being like any devil he'd faced before and that he should summon her again.

But the problem was that if he summoned Makima, then the reward of the fight would get less.

That was the problem with teamwork for him.

Just as the fire was no longer able to reach him, he stopped. Sam turned to see it stopping one meter around him.

To mock the Hell Devil, he sat on his legs crossed, and he extended his hands to the fire, as if he was a homeless man who found a source of warmth in a cold winter.

The fire split, creating a path for the centaur-like demon, who was heading toward him with the intent to kill.

Sam now knew its power, knew that he could cut it, and knew that he was capable of dealing with him. But no way it was going to be an easy fight.

He stood up, held the sword with both hands, and crouched.

On the other side, things weren't as calm. Well, they were calmer, especially for the humans who had just come back from hell. The dolls that had been invading the city had stopped moving all of a sudden. On the other hand, the assassins were moving more calmly.

Makima stood up next to her newest puppy, Reze. She looked at the sky, and for the first time in her long life, she felt worry and pissed off.

All of that because of one human.

"That idiot…" she muttered, despite her calm face, she was boiling inside. 'He doesn't even know that even if he won against the Hell Devil, he would still have to face the Primordial devils.'

Those devils were the real deal. They had been on earth. And because they were too feared, or their names had been so, they could ascend to hell on their own. One of them is her sister.

Makima exhaled. For a very long time, she had something to be called family.

And now, it was threatened to be gone.

Like Sam had told her, the world felt so lonely. To her, it was the case since no one could be equal to her. But with him, that loneliness wasn't there. And surprisingly, he had said the same thing about her.

For the first time, she wished she would be able to control Sam, so she could have guided him out of hell.

But again, him being uncontrollable is what she liked about him.

She turned to Kobeni. It's time to force her to finish the deal and get back to Hell before things could get any worse.

[HP 500/500] Sam looked at the Hell devil, a few blood droplets were drying on him. His clothes had already been burned to ashes, except for his pants, leaving him topless.

As much as he wished to think about why the pants never get damaged in anime's logic, he had a real battle to focus on.

On the other hand, he wasn't the only damaged one.

The centaur-like creature had one arm missing. A large slash was on its chest. Although the devil had healed many times, its regeneration couldn't last forever. Sam started smelling a chance for victory.

'I'll put all of my mana on the next attack.'

Sparks of lightning surrounded his body. Four red swords emerged from thin air and applied on his katana.
