13 Chapter 7.1

The only thing close to resembling a human about him at this point, was his face.

It sat atop a large body plated with blackened chitin and standing on insect legs.

The wings came back to Tozue and bobbed around him.

Nearly instantly, with his right arm, he brought his hand up to her collarbone.

Punching it.

The wind boomed with the shockwave.

Sent flying backwards, she struggled to breathe, grasping at her neck and chest.

Crashing through the windows into the arcade, multiple machines turned on.

Jumbled music filled the bottom floor of the building, and the children, who were watching, had moved away from the window.

Emilie broke through the glass on a crane game, and her legs dangled outside the glass.

She was in a sea of plushies.

After laying there for a second, she put her hand to the air.

Her sword, which laid on the concrete, flew through the air and into the arcade, cutting up all the machines as it made its way straight to her.

After it landed back in her hand, she quickly cut a hole in the metal panel next to her, getting out.

"Christ, kid…"

As she poked her head, up she saw that he was at the front door.

No damage was on her chest, so one of her lackeys was probably dying at that moment.

"I knew the warm feeling in my gut about you was right."

She held the sword with both hands.

One on the grip, the other on the blade.

Quickly rubbing her palm black and forth across the edge, blood trickled from her palms and onto the sword.

After a mass amount of red coated the metal, she talked to Tozue.

"Honestly, I don't care, as long as I get to fight and actually feel alive, you get me?"

Her blood coated the sword and moved around it like a rushing river, constantly swirling.

"But… y'know… I sort of hope this doesn't end… too badly… for either of us."

Dragging the tip of the blade across the ground, she walked to the front of the store.

There was a screech, from the metal scraping across the floor.

Emilies blood mutated into something like flames, weaving and twirling in the air.

Her heels accompanied the continued noise of the devil-slaying sword.

"I haven't felt this happy, or excited, about something in a while, Amakusa."

With his hand on the door frame, Tozue reciprocated.

"I feel the same way about it, too."
