2 Chapter 2

have been seated for more than two hours now. My heartbeat has quickened and there is fear lingering inside of me.

I might have told myself countless times that I may not be the lucky ones, but that hasn't stopped the fear inside of me.

The banging of the door brought me back to reality. For two hours, there has been a different reaction from everyone who went in. Some were holding back tears, some had a blank face, some came out angry just like the young lady who just stepped out while some came out with a hopeful expression, they were few.

There are two more applicants seated before me. I couldn't help but wonder what fate has installed for me behind the closed door. This is the strategic planning floor from what I was able to understand, and the interviewer is the head of strategic planning.

This interview is for the new personal assistant to the big boss but wow they are been too strict with it. Some of the ladies did say aside from the big boss's PA, there might be other vacant offices to be filled. I am trying to be hopeful. I don't want to strike this out of my target too. I thought solemnly.

"Paisley Ryan" the floor secretary called out

"That's me" I answered

"Follow me then" she walked me to a door. I kept on chanting within me you can do it Paisley . she knocked and we waited till a voice answered come in.

This is it. I help the door handle and pushed it down.

"Hello sir" I greeted trying to be as professional as I can be. He is handsome if only I could sneak a picture for Evelyn. I almost chuckled at the thought.

"Sit down Miss Ryan" he answered not looking up from the document which I'm guessing to be my CV.

I sat down. Finally he looked up.

"Tell me Miss Ryan...."ten minutes later I walked out, I couldn't stop the expression on my face, this feels like it's a dream.

I took out my phone to call someone. Mom would be busy right now hence I called Evelyn.

"Hey girlie you OK. Do I need to feign being sick and get out of here?" I chuckled at her melodrama

"I'm fine Lyn, they said to they will get back to me" I couldn't hide the excitement inside of me. Finally stepping out of the elevator I took a quick glance towards the receptionist and smiled in her direction. She didn't see me though as she was concentrated on whatever it is she was doing.

"That's good news I guess" Evelyn responded. Her voice was not as excited as mine.

"It is good news obviously" I briefly told her about most of the applicants' expressions. Being part of the few who came out with a hopeful expression is without a doubt a good thing. We had to end our call as she had a meeting to attend. She works at a magazine company.

Opening my apartment door, I rushed to get myself a glass of water which I gulped down quickly.

I have been rude. Let me tell you guys about myself.
