33 Rival? Enemy?

Madam was the gentlest person he met. God was so cruel to take Madam away from them.

Butler Li couldn't help but think back how it would be better if all three of them could stay together forever.

Lu Jingyi and Father Lu finally stop hugging and crying after a long time. Lu Jingyi then pulled Father Lu to sit on the sofa.

"Dad, I want to ask you about something."

"Go on."

"Did the kidnapping incident of me and my mom were just a simple kidnapping for ransom?"

Father Lu was stunned upon hearing the question. His expression turned gloomier.

"Sigh. No. It is as you thought. It's not a simple kidnapping case. The truth is, we haven't caught the mastermind up until now. I have been investigating who was the one planned it but to no avail. Your dad is useless. It has been years but I still couldn't find him."

Lu Jingyi was saddened to hear her father talked in despair.

"No, you're not. You are the best dad and the best husband in the world. You never give up in trying to find the culprit. So, Dad, don't beat yourself down. Mom and I loved you and appreciated your efforts."

Father Lu was touched by her daughter's word. He patted her head like usual. It must be a blessing from his wife that they have Lu Jingyi by his side.

"Dad, what do you think of the grudge did the culprit have against us?"

Lu Jingyi was curious as to what grudge do they have against them to the extent of doing cruel things to them.

She vaguely remembered one of the kidnappers said someone did not want them to be alive.

"Your dad has enemies in business but they will not do such illegal stuff just to compete with me. Well, you could call them rivals rather than enemies and it is true that they hate me. I don't think is them but I still suspect them. I'm still trying to figure out who I really offend but none came up in my mind."

Father Lu almost lost all hope. If they couldn't catch the enemy, they won't live in peace.

Even though from the time of his wife's death until now, there were no major danger to it but it still happened such as a traitor in the company who sold information to others and someone commited suicide from the company building.

It was as though it was a warning to him. Although Father Lu solved many problems like that but he had to stay alert all the time.

"Dad, I remembered vaguely one of the kidnappers which was in the one who killed mom said that there was someone who didn't want us to be alive. I think that person must really loathe us. What did we do wrong?"

"You're right. That person must hated us and more specifically, me. I'm not sure what I did. I had let the police officers to get words or ideas out of the person which were the kidnappers but none of them knew his real name or his look because they had never met them. The culprit used a voice changing device to call them and the number was untraceable. It must be a personal grudge against me and I can't figure out what I did much less who the person I did wrong."

Seeing Father Lu was starting to get depressed, Lu Jingyi decided to ask Mo Zhexuan for help.

"Don't worry, Dad. Let me ask Mo Zhexuan for help."

"No, no. We don't want to trouble him in our family matters and I don't want to trouble him."

Father Lu didn't like to involve others in his family matters and didn't want to implicate them too.

"It's okay, Dad. More hands make light work. Besides, Mo Zhexuan is half a family, right?"

Father Lu was stunned by what his daughter said. It seems like the relationship between them got closer. He finally smiled.

It would be better if the both of them get marry instantly because Mo Zhexuan was the ideal partner for his daughter.

Later, Lu Jingyi called Mo Zhexuan to have dinner together so that she could discuss the matter to him.
