Ch-6 Re-Write

Month-1-Day-7

I missed a good bed, I had spent the last month sleeping in a hammock in a shack then at sea as if I tried to transfigure a bed but it would revert before the night was over so I had to make do, But here in the palace the room provided was one of the best night of sleep I had in months.

After eating a nice light breakfast of fruits and breads I was then told to join Doran in his Solar where Ophelia would run me through her infrastructure projects she already had started.

Ophelia-"Good Morning, now Dorne like most desert kingdoms are limited by the access to fresh water. I with the help of some Scholars we have devised a aqueduct system that should bring water to more isolated regions but we don't have a strong enough mortar that can support the weight and do you have some other recommendations on what else we should develop."

Colt thought to himself he knew a number of different ways to accomplish this, and with the Factorio database he knew of some super concrete mixes that could with stand Nukes. But he didn't want to give Dorne to much help. "Lime Mortar with a high content of Gypsum twill support a high weight and a better design will also help as arches will support a lot more water than the ones you have here. Now for other infrastructure a water reservoir like that of Constantinople which could hold over 17.5 million gallons of water, with it you build garden towers that with the help of some high quality pipes and some windmills you should be able to make hanging gardens."

Doran-"This is all well and good but how can we afford this as these aqueducts alone will bankrupt Dorne for the next 3 generations." Who was testing Ophelia on her statecraft as he had a number of plans that she was not privy to.

Ophelia -"That is where my textile industry comes in as even with our Mr.Colts industries my Spider silk is one of the most sought after cloth and if I make a large stockpile and we work slowly we will have it all done in about 10 years."

Doran nodded and wrote down a couple of notes, I took a quick look it was a ledger of the budget of Dorne and Doran then looked to me.

Colt-"If you are willing to pay for the regents I can breed some magical versions of spider to be larger or introduce a potion regiment For it to come out in interesting colors. While they would be very few in number for a about 5 years they for example could be very resistance to non magical weapons in addition to very strong poisons." I would also benefit from this as more magical animals would also benefit me as magic is a huge positive feedback loop.

The meeting went I into the more specifics like where the aqueducts would run through and what I would need to make her spiders.

To develop her Spiders I would need quite a bit of various potions to increase its size to that of a small dog as I didn't want to make the giant ones. The chosen pair of spider would then be placed in a multi chambered clay vessel designed to gather the ambient mana and funnel it into the spider, in each chamber would be what Ophelia wanted to spider to feed upon and what level strength she wanted to web to be.

She placed a variety of common but not regularly eaten fruit, a very small amount of rotten sewage, and lastly a piece of steel for the web.

Upon asking her to explain the reasoning of the food choices as do to what she chose these would be very weak if not completely domesticated spiders and only be the size of a Chihuahua.

Her reasoning is this, if she were to die and leave no one to learn her skills and magic she wanted her family and future family to benefit from these spiders.

As the spiders would acts as solid waste cleaners of sewers and when she figured it out future non magical should be able to harvest the webbing and uses it.

Month-1-Day-10-30

Upon completing the vessel and placing the ingredients inside I left them to grow for the time being and will check on them in about a month.

I also had been told that the all clear was given to guide a ship to my island where I would set up the initial settlement and industry. I was joined by Ophelia and her father Obryen who guided me there on my ship as he had said he was guarding his brothers investment.

Upon reaching the island I went about deciding where I would be establishing my first settlement, thankfully no one had decided to drop by in my absence and went to work designing the basis layout.

Grabbing my Wand I focused for a moment and began to walk amongst the the area clearing the paths of weeds Leaving a faint green line marking out the foundation on my temporary castle.

It would be stationed inland where my path cut right through the mountain into the "bowl" of the island. There a perfect square 120ft by 120ft there The fortress has four turrets with square bases, each one 20 feet on a side and 30 feet tall, with one turret on each corner. The turrets are connected to each other by stone walls that are each 80 feet long, creating an enclosed area. Each wall is 1 foot thick and is composed of panels that are 10 feet wide and 20 feet tall.

A small keep stands inside the enclosed area. The keep has a square base that is 50 feet on each side, and it has three floors with 10-foot-high ceilings. Each of the floors can be divided into as many rooms as you like, provided each room is at least 5 feet on each side.

The Castle alone took about a week on its own to complete as it required me to rip the very stone from the surrounding mountain while transforming it into the fortress.

The fortress like all my future buildings was designed to follow Byzantine architecture styles with its massive domes and high ceilings as it wasn't quite a total alien style but borrowed from Dornish and Essos.

Next came the very important dock where future trading, war, and fishing vessels would land and for this for now was just a simple stone dock that stretched about 500 feet out but I had dug out enough sand to allow a full Galleon to dock in the future.

Next came for the homes and farms, they would be inside the Caldera where they would be protected and where extremely fertile soil was.

The farms all looked out of place compared to the time, in a series of perfect squares drainage ditches were placed to allow fields to be watered when needed, In the center of this complex was a water tower where I had placed a pump that was connected to underground lake which would purify the water as a preventative measure against salt intrusion. By the tower was a large barn where farming equipment was stored along with any animals that will be needed in the future.

The home they all would live In are some of the highest quality in all of Westeros as very few peasants could afford to live in such solidly constructed brick homes.

By the time I had enough homes and basic infrastructure (ie seeds, food, tools, ext) for just a couple of 100 people but with it done I could begin to have people join and start to expand themselves.

After I taught them how to use there new equipment, all the different crops, new building styles basically all the new things I and Ophelia had introduced.

As she over the past 3 or so years has encouraged 4 field crop rotation cutting down on the teaching I need to accomplish, then finally as I was returning to sun spear the forge rolled again.

-Cidhna Mine (Elder Scrolls Skyrim SB) (200CP)

Nobody escapes Cidhna Mine, that's how the saying goes anyways. Cidhna mine is an extensive set of tunnels snaking into Nirn which the Silver-Blood Family uses as a prison and as a source of much wealth. Yours isn't that same dreaded mine, though it's similar in many ways. Placed in a reasonable location of your choosing is a copy of the mine, while the original was predominately used for silver mining yours is much greater. Throughout the mines are extensive reserves of just about all of the ores found in Skyrim at the time, ranging from Ebony to Stalhrim and will produce an incredible amount. These reserves will replenish themselves once they begin to run dry and the mine will be manned by NPC guards and workers, though you could always appoint your own workers and guards if you wished. In future jumps it updates to include new material in the mine.
