7 07. Quest And Status.

One was Derek and the rest were inmates I do not even know their names.

Since this was to be my only ticket out of here. I will gladly kill as many as I can to survive until the very last day.

All is for the hope of seeing my mother and sister again.

After all, Sophia said she believed in me to return to them and I would rather not let her down.

While I was lost in thought, a golden glow appeared on all three dead carcasses.

Squinting my already exhausted eyes even further, I could see that it was the image of a golden coin floating on all three inmates.

I dragged my exhausted body from the floor and ambled toward the big-bellied inmate carcass.

The glowing golden coin image was a projection of the golden coin itself, with the real gold coin placed on the stomach of the big-bellied inmate.

"I guess the projection helps us to know what kind of object is dropped even if we are at a distance from the carcass," I said before grabbing all three golden coins.

It appears the three inmates I killed all had one golden coin with them.

"This survival game sure seems a lot like a video game," This was my assumption after witnessing the floating negative figures a couple of times and the notification popping up when I killed an inmate.

Suddenly, a prompt appeared before me.

[Congratulations on your first successive kills.]

"Woah!! Four quests!" I exclaimed.

I didn't expect to see four quests, and it looks like each of them had a massive reward if completed.

"With my physique, it would be better to aim lower,"

Aiming higher is good and all, but taking a pragmatic approach will be far better in cases like this.

"And what can be better than ensuring I stay alive until the very last day,"

"I could aim for the main quest, but that's also the same as aiming for trouble,"

"The main quest reward is the most mind-blowing of all the rewards, which means a lot of superb criminals will be aiming for it. I'm better off settling for less,"

"The side quest [Leave no survivors] sounds remarkable but like the main quest, it is also a trouble magnet,"

"And that leaves me with the [Don't Die] quest. I like the sound of that. It's a lot better to stay alive and see Sophia and Alice smiling at me once again than to aim for other quests and risk surviving till the end,"

The reward is also enough to take care of all three of us.

It isn't every day you get to just win 200,000,000 dollars.

[Would you like to see your status?]

"Yes," I replied.

With my command, My status window appeared before me, listing my attributes and various other things that will be used in the game.

With the knowledge I have of video games, I'm certain it can only be seen by me.

[Status]

[Level: 1]

[HP: 4/10]

[EXP: 30/500]

[Hunger: 40%]

[STR: 1]

[AGI: 1]

[VIT: 1]

[STA: 1]

[DEX: 1]

[PRE: 1]

[CP: 0 points.]

[SP: 0 points]

[Weapons]

[Potions]

[Skills and Recipes]

[Inventory: Empty]

[Number of gold coins: 4 gold coins.]

[Number Of Kills: 3]

[Bounty: 0 gold coins.]

Looking at the stats, it was easy to discern what each meant and what purpose they served as well.

The [STR] meant my physical strength, and [AGI] would most likely be how fast and agile I am. [VIT] represented my defense and [DEX] would be based on how proficient I was with a weapon, while [PRE] will help in accurately making critical hits.

I'm not the kind to play video games since my parents weren't wealthy enough to get me one, but whenever I pass through an arcade center, I've heard countless kids around my age talking about stuff like this.

If I recall correctly, the [SP] and [CP] should mean skill point and character point, respectively.

"I wonder how many of these points I'll be rewarded once I level up,"
