Chapter 1

"Ughhh what is that annoying voice.And why is it not stopping.Turns out it was my alarm.How naive was I setting an alarm every night and then cursing myself in the morning.It was a never ending cycle of doom.I finally found the stop button i.e smashing it on the floor.There goes my hundred something alarm clock.

Ughh who cares i knew i had 2min more to sleep before....nope dont even have that i could hear my mom coming up the stairs.I was waiting for her to snatch my blanket away but when she didnt i looked at her with a blurry vision only to see the sight of my mom sniffling quietly.

I was up in a flash asking her the reason for her distress cause the only time i remember my mom crying when my punk of a little brother rascal that he is got into a fight with a group of boys in the back alley.

Well my step little brother my dad a pathetic excuse for a father abandoned my mom before I was even born.My mom found another man who she thought was worthy of he love only for him to be a huge disappointment as well.

And there she was with a 3 year old me and a baby Chance left alone again.

My mom has always worked very hard for us and My brother and I have never wanted anything even close to a father as long as we have watch other.

Anyways back to the topic Needless to say he was in the hospital for quite some time.Anyways back to mom she didnt say anything just sat on the edge.Then the realization dawned on me i was going for my initiation ceremony today.

I would either go to The Demon Academy or The Celestial Academy.See the people who have already been through this whole ceremony thingy they r not allowed to tell the people who have still not gone through it.

U know they cant tell them anything so basically we are mundanes,we just know that there are two academy's and that's it we dont know how the ceremony works,what powers u have to show to go to the celestial academy or demon academy,nothing nada.Now back to my dear mom she is worried i will go to the demon academy like her.

See she didnt tell me much for obvious reasons just that she has the scars to prove that bullying can go to another level there.I mean personally i dont know what she is so worried about.I mean i get it Demon academy is full of well demons.But its better than Celestial academy which i am pretty sure is full of rich snobs who think they are above all.

After i reassure my mother for the 100th time that i will be okay she leaves me to get ready for the ceremony but not before giving me a hug and whispering happy birthday and handing me something.I thank her wishing she didnt remember.My mother works very hard but earns not enough.

Nevertheless she gives Chance(my baby bro) and me gifts on our birthday even after us telling her repeatedly to spend something on herself she tells us not to deprive her the joy of giving her children presents.And well since this is my 18th birthday i cant say even a little suprised when she handed me the box.Sighing i open the gift getting a little excited inspite of myself.

A gasp escapes my mouth when i see a small box which has the most beautiful charm bracelet with just 1 charm of the sun.I start sniffling as this is what my mom has always called me since I was little. Her sun the one who brought light and happiness into her life.I run downstairs amd give my mom a big hug.

I know my mom must have been saving for a while now.She returns it and tell's me to go get ready.I walk up the stairs hearing my mom telling my brother that she gives us presents for these smiles.He just grunts in response.He really has closed off since the fight.I take a shower,brush my teeth.And i'm all ready i think.I dont know.

I feel weird knowing i probably won't be seeing my room this house till after my 4 years at whatever academy and maybe sometime after that depending on what career i choose.

I follow my mom outside,looking at our house it was not much but it was home.I look around where i live.It was an area which was known as lower town i cud see a stoned guy trying to pick a fight with the wall.I will miss this place.I make way to my mom's car.

A beatdown wagon as i sit in the car thinking about what is gonna happen i dont know what i am feeling i am certainly gonna miss Chance and my mom but maybe something good will come out of it.

Maybe i will find a boyfriend i mean i am no supermodel with fire truck red locks and a figure which is not bad but not good either.I guess i am average

The one thing that is unique about as i like to call it and a freak as my brother calls it(nevertheless he gets smacked on the head)Are my eyes.

They are the colour of the sun.Shades of yellow,Orange and red.

My mom says they start to glow when i am angry or feeling a strong emotion i think she is bluffing cause i have never seen my eyes do that.I am not a bulb that i will glow.Hahahahha i burst out laughing at my lame dad joke.Then sober up as i see we are gonna reach the grand hall where they do the ceremony.

That's weird it usually takes some time to reach this part of town houses that are big af and have assholes living in them yeah that's the one.As we are nearing the hall i look around for my best friend Blake we have been friends since toddlers and we share literally everything.He was the guy that helped me through my 1st period.

As i am walking in the hall i see Blake standing near the door looking just as uncomfortable as i.I go and give him a big hug.I see some of the girls looking at me in distate.Blake is someone u call as the classic good looking guy.With slicked blond hair and green eyes that always seem to twinke. I think he is ok.He returns the hug tightly until i tell him i cant breathe.Then he lets go ruffles my hair and drags me inside.As i am being dragged i notice my mom and bro are going through a large brown doors.I take a min to admire the hall.With High ceilings and largw pillars its almost like my dream home.

Screw that its probably a lot of people's dream home.I mean a big af clean place with intricate designings.Who wants this....me!

As i am going through the buliding i see a sight that.makes me double take.There is this official looking man nooo horse no half man half horse who is taking names of people that look like they are our age.

God what is this mystical creature.Blake whispers to me"Are u seeing this or am i still hungover from last night."I am too suprised to even roll my eyes at him.

As we take our place in the line.I try to take my hand from Blake but he doesnt release it.As we near the starting of the line where the creature stands.We hear him taking the names of the people and their date of birth.

As Blake reaches the start he tell his name and date and instead of going to stand in the line next to the door he comes and stays with me.

The creature raises it's eyebrows looking at Blake i duck my head in embarresment.As the creature asks me my name i raise my head up.And say it's Sage.He looks up at me only to doubletake looking at my eyes.Whispering"No it can not be."
