1 Prologue: Game of Immortals.

Twinkle frost galaxy had only two planets. One was Lazuli where the Humans and Mystics lived, and the other was Lapis. Both planets were similar in size and angular proportions. But where Lazuli had the green aura that signaled the presence of life on it, Lapis was pitch black. A dead zone for stray stars, asteroids, comets and other space bodies to rest and throw parties.

It was on this planet Lapis that the Immortals of Twinkle Frost always held their annual meeting that began the turn of a new year.

Since they were celestial beings, they could manifest in any way, shape or form.

So it was nothing above ordinary to see a beautiful girl, a hovering orb of light, a blue Ferrari, and a snow white chicken sitting around a rippling pool of water. The four of the Immortals in all their glories.

"Where the fuck is he?" said the chicken, flapping his wings in annoyance. His red crown rose high and graceful, arching forward in the air.

"Watch your language, Avion." cautioned the young girl. She was idly applying make-up to her face while staring at a round mirror in front of her. Invisible hands were arranging seashells into the fine braids of her long blonde hair. "You know how he is. Always does everything at his own time and in his own way."

"This is me being calm, Lenora." barked Avion. He was extremely larger than a normal chicken with a very fat stomach and relatively tiny wings. "I've had it with his disrespect. He is always late. He never obeys any of our rules and...enough of that noise you call music, Petran. It's annoying my ears!"

The ferrari laughed heartily, his booming voice drowning out the sound of the song playing from his speaker.

"Listen to lenora's advice, Avion." said Petran. He hummed a line of the song, moving his bonnet to the beat. "There's no reason to be in a hurry. We only get to live once...for all eternity. So just enjoy every moment while you still can." He rose up on his back tyres and spined around in perfect circles before dropping to the ground.

Avion frowned at him. "What exactly are you supposed to be again?"

"A Ferrari." said Petran casually. "I came across them on a planet in the milky way. Yes, the people there are weird and funny but they know how to make interesting stuff. I had about a million different cars imported from there yesterday."

Avion shook his head. "Madness. Pure madness. What are you going to do with a million cars when you can easily appear wherever you want?"

"Where's the fun in simply appearing in a place?" He was still moving rhythmically. "Don't you like the feel of the wind on you skin when you fly through the world? The calls of eagles and owls when you tumble about in the sky? That's what living is all about."

Avion snorted and moved away from him. "He needs a mental check as soon as possible." He muttered to himself.

"I see him coming."

All the other three Immortals looked up at the orb of light. This was the first time she was speaking since they arrived. A gathering of sparkles spelled the name over her head as Sansa.

"Who is coming?" asked Avion, looking around. "It had better be Corazon because I have had enough of this—"

"Hey, guys!" called a humongous snail crawling slowly towards them. He was the biggest of them all, with golden jewelries all over his body and lace fabrics covering his shell. "I decided to go with a different look today."

Avion was livid. "A snail? Of all the things you could think of...a snail? You went for the slowest of them all?"

"I am working according to a very long list. Today just happened to be snail day, sorry. " He looked around. "Hello, Sansa." She gave him a stiff hello in reply. "Beautiful Lenora," She blew him a kiss. " I love that song, Petran."

"You have nice ears! I'll send the playlist to you after the meeting. It has everything from blues to hip-hop and jazz. You brought your iPhone?"

Corazon strained his neck backwards to look inside his shell. "I kept it somewhere around in here. The network on this planet is terrible. I couldn't even make any calls. Wait...I think I see it...that's just my CD collection" He looked at Petran. "How about we take a hike to my place after here? We could relax and have a few drinks."

Petran chuckled. "Any call to drink is an invitation I can't refuse. Count me in!"

"We should get down to business." said Lenora. She waved her hand and the make-up kit disappeared. "I have a spa appointment in an hour."

"You don't need anymore pampering, beautiful Lenora. You're perfect the way you are." said Corazon, his head coming up again. "But you're right. Let us begin the meeting. Whose turn is it to lead?"

"Me." said Avion and Lenora at the same time before glancing at each other.

"You led the meeting last year. You had us all dress up like princesses in a movie you watched!" Avion argued.

"That was a decade or two ago!" retorted Lenora. "And everyone enjoyed themselves, didn't they?"

"I didn't." said Petran.

"Me neither." added Avion. "I still get nightmares from that day!"

Lenora's pretty face went red. "Are you trying to say that—"

"I will lead the meeting today."

Everyone trailed off into silence, looking up at Sansa once again.

She floated to the centre of the shimmering pool. "I declare the new year formally open." The eyes on the orb blinked and looked around. "We the Immortals of Twinkle Frost are tasked with providing One hundred Celestial kissed souls for planet Lazuli every year. This souls would have access to the Celestial System and all it's privileges. They are the ones who will defend the planet against the beasts and monsters from the Shadow. They'll also have the opportunity to become Immortals like us if they can reach that level." She paused. "Has each you come with your twenty souls?"

Lenora waved her hand and twenty white orbs streamed out of her chest. The other immortals did the same, causing a hundred orbs in total to hover all over the pool.

"The Hundred souls we have collected from all over the universe." She announced reverently.

"She's always one to be dramatic." whispered Corazon to Petran. The both of them chuckled, causing Avion to give them a threatening look.

"Cut it out, you two. Sansa doesn't like being interrupted."

Sansa went on. "The hundred souls shall now be admitted into the First Realm of Planet Lazuli, where they shall be reborn as men and women of strength and valour, of wisdom and might. With every level up they shall advance both in nature and realm until they reach Immortality and Space."

Power flowed out of the five immortals, causing the wind around the mountain to pick up. The stars in the sky seemed to shine brighter and the two moons expanded.

The hundred orbs arranged themselves into a spiralling mist before dropping into the pool. It rippled and warped, sending off sparks into the surrounding.

"It is done." said Sansa.

"It is done." repeated the others in unison.

"It is not done until I say so." said a voice from out of nowhere.

The immortals looked at each other in confusion. Only Sansa appeared to know what was going on.

She looked up into space. "He is here."

He dropped down from the night sky like a band of shadows. There was no form or shape to him. He was just pure darkness that floated towards them like a dense cloud.

"I see you guys began the ceremony without me." He said calmly. "That's not nice. Not nice at all."

"What are you doing here, Void?" asked Avion angrily. "You're not an immortal!"

"I am an Immortal. How can you say such a thing?" The cloud took shape into a manly form. A tall and slim one that was a perfect shadow. "I am as powerful and celestial as the rest of you."

"No, you aren't." said Corazon reasonably. "You were not formed when this galaxy came into existence like us. You came to being from the dark part of space. You are not connected to this galaxy or any other one."

It was hard to tell the expression on Void's face because there was no face to begin with. But his voice seemed amused when he spoke.

"Is that what you tell yourselves to keep calm whenever I come around?" He laughed wickedly. "It must be great being so foolish."

"You son of a bitch! I will rip your throat from your eyes!" Avion started forward in a fluttering of wings but Lenora held him back, her arms around his fat neck. "Let go of me so I can teach him a lesson!"

"We must calm down." said Sansa quietly, but her voice still managed to bring calm.

"Sansa! Ever the level headed control freak. How are you doing?" asked Void.

She turned to face him. "What do you want here, Void?"

He seemed to shrug. "Nothing much. I don't mind all these meetings. They bore me to death."

"Why are you here?" She asked again.

"I just came to deliver...this."

And before any of the Immortals could stop him, he flung out his arm. A black orb shot out of his hand and dropped towards the pool. Shocked, everyone stared after it as it fell...straight through the shimmering pool.

The pool let out a deafening rumble and flared up extremely bright before rippling to calmness.

"There you go." said Void triumphantly.

"What have you...what have you done?" cried Corazon.

The rest, even Sansa, was shocked beyond words.

"I just cashed in on my right to foster a Celestial kissed soul. This year's leveling up is going to be really fun!" He whooped before turning around to float away. "See you guys next year!" He melted back into space.

"The Pool!" shouted Lenora.

All the immortals glanced at it and got the shock of their existence. The Pool that had held Mana water since the day the world was formed billions of years ago...had just dried up.
