78 Unexpected Notification

After saying my goodbyes to Robert and heading home. I got a second notification for the night. The first notification was the task reward while this new one was a first for me.

...

One of your subjects has just exited the warriors tower after climbing to the 151st floor. A tower user that has chosen to keep her Identity hidden on the ranking board is the first to leave the lower floors and enter the middle of the tower. She wishes to work as a Hero In Moonlight City and because she has completed more than fifty levels, she has been given the right to request an audience with you and has expressed that she would like to do so. Do you grant this audience?

...

"Yes". The lower floors were basically a tutorial of sorts, but they were still plenty hard to get through for normal people that have no power. The lower level had the least amount of floors and ended at 150, the middle floors had 300 floors, and the top floors had over 500. The floors got harder and more complex the higher you climbed. Each floor had it's own land, sky, traps, and monsters. To make it so far, the anonymous tower user would have to be very resourceful and well trained.

Right after I gave the okay, A young woman with auburn hair and a white costume covered in stars appeared in front of me. I wasn't fooled for even a second. Before she could speak, I talked first. "Speak, tell me why you wanted an audience?"

The red head looked up into my eyes and without missing a beat replied to my question. "My training under my mentor has ended and it was time for me to move out, I recently moved to Moonlight City hoping there was room for me here".

I somewhat understood the situation. "So Batman said it was time for you to spread your wings elsewhere and you chose here? Is Robin still under him?"

Barbara was shocked at how quickly her bat identity was deduced. "How did you know? and no Robin has moved out as well. He had actually moved out first. He's still working in Gotham though, he's just living on his own now. He goes by Nightwing now by the way".

The two hadn't been kids for a while now, if anything I thought it was a little late for Batman to release them from the cave, but better late than never. "You can only join the tower if you live in Moonlight City and have some type of loyalty to me, so how did that come about? I don't ever remember meeting you or giving you a reason to be loyal to me"

Barbara shrugged her shoulders. "I recently moved here and as for loyalty? I wouldn't call it that, but I do recognize you as the King of Moonlight City considering everyone else does. I understand that you are a King and if I wish to live here, I have to acknowledge that or be kicked out like Superman had been previously".

I raised an eyebrow. "Well you are used to how controlling Batman is over his city, so I guess you would understand me as well to some extent. I understand you wish to work as a Hero in this city from now on? What's with the costume change?" I now understood that the system uses the word 'loyalty' loosely. Luckily anything the system gives to another another person, I could always take away if someone were to turn against me.

Barbara smiled. "I was actually wanting a change in my look considering I wasn't working under Batman any longer and I was in a new city, but I didn't make this costume myself, I obtained it as a reward within the tower on the 150th floor. This costumes information popped into my head once I had put it on. The costume is called Cosmic Stars and it basically gives me the power of flight and makes me two times faster under the nights sky. I was informed by the tower that although the costume is one of a kind, it can only work in Moonlight City".

It made sense to me. Why would something that extended from my domain perk be of help outside my domain? "Have you found a place to stay yet?" I asked knowing it was hard to find a place in Moonlight City with such short notice. Even though we have so much crime, lately people have been flocking to this city in hopes of moving here for various reasons. Some for the minor healing buff, some that wanted to see their loved ones if they died in the future, and some just liked the Moonlight City scenery.

"I haven't, until now I had been living inside the tower as I tackled each level. Luckily there is edible meat and vegetation within it that I could survive on. I am sure I will find something sooner or later though, I'm not to worried. By the way, call me Cosmic Starlight from now on if you don't mind. It's the name I have decided to go by now. I felt the name not only matched my new costume, but it also fits this city and my new power quite well".

I nodded. "I can give you a spare room at my house until you get on your feet here and find another place you would rather stay. If you are worried about living with me because I am a man, don't be. I live with six other people currently. You will have your own privacy and room and you won't have to pay rent. Not only that, I'll allow you access to my state of the art training facility that I refer to as a holodeck. Think of it as a reward for being the first to reach the middle levels of the Warriors Tower and wanting to help me with crime in the City".

It would have been more people living with me if I counted the prisoners. After my last concert, Ortho and her family had been coming over so often they practically lived with me these days so I had counted them. I didn't mind it, if anything it motivated my three disciples to train more as they all got along and sparred often. I had even bought them rooms for when they wanted to stay over.

Cosmic Starlight smiled beautifully. "I think I will take you up on your offer". She had no reason to say no. She knew King Moonlight was one of the eight heroes of the Justice League that worked alongside her previous mentor Batman. She also knew King Moonlight although referred to as very unpredictable and somewhat mysterious, was one of the stronger Heroes from what she had heard.

She had chosen this city for a number of reasons. First it was a crime filled city that was almost just as bad as Gotham, second Prince Aeric who she enjoyed the company of had moved here somewhere, and third only residents of Moonlight City had access to it's perks. She wanted to move up in the Hero world if she could. Moonlight City was the perfect place to stand out and gain new power. The first step to excelling in Moonlight City was to be on good terms with it's King.

Although it's not technically legal or okay to set up a monarchy wherever you feel like it, most people of Moonlight city seemed to accept King Moonlight as their King and the King in question could easily banish Heroes from the city if he wanted. Not only that, he doesn't treat his people badly. So what could be done? It was best to just accept it. She doubted Bruce had gotten a permit for the giant watchtower above Earth either. It would be hypocritical to confront King Moonlight about it.
