Celebration of life: Beyond Veiled Boundaries

From one world to another, the working cogs of the afterlife have suited the souls within those worlds. Slightly beyond the sight of living people is a system of order that keeps all in check. Away from worlds of magic (as was in the previous books), here is a world as we know it. But peel back the laws that prevent the living among the dead, befall a strange way of life for one individual. In all honesty: this 132 chapter book is more the removed sections of another. This is a very broken long draft, I would actually not have this one in paper copy. But the elements of this book are basically for 'Shroud Over Their Eyes'. Welcome to my headache of untangling this multiverse.

Lunchtime to after first session.

She notices that there was plenty of ways students were fancy. If clothing, hair products or brand wear clothing didnt tell you that they were loaded. It is also that some students had spirit folks for servants. Like out right demon folks obeying thier whims. Adding to the expected cost is that meals had categories of pay levels.

Being up the ladder of status wasn't like a normal school. In spite of all the obvious tells that she was out of there league. No one had yet apporached her. She expected to be picked on for being a poor student. This isn't the case. She was a short fascination that is ignored totally once passively glanced about.

She hide her mask side more due to fearing being assumed things. She wasn't making a big deal of her sight and was actually just docile - no matter what she was facing. At a given point of being seated alone a small table, a undertaker rudely sits himself across from her. That waiting for something.

"Did someone break something? Does it matter to the scary book?" She probs a few soft questions that was more a whisper, "Is there another broken creepy book that I have touch again?"

"So you are talking to me." He sighs at relief, "Aren't you mad or freaked out? Be scared to at least faint yet?" His being loud and a lot of people can hear him.

"Why would I?" She puts up the volume but her manner of tone was unchanged. She clearly catious of her knowledge.Kept it under radar to those watching that she picked up a spoon for her gritz. Corn gain made into savoury porridge, one the most southern side dishes that has a fitting history of slavery. Very on the nose for a plantation turned school to be serving. She eats a spoon full with head tilt of waiting for his turn to answer her.

"I am a spirit of a dead person. That tends to freak out many that come here."

"It seems we forgotten each other again, Mr Curiosity. Yet then again the way time passes for souls in different for curtains is a confusing but necessary aspect. A oddity to make your acquaintance. Your still a man to your king or queen." She points her spoon to scoop again but paused, "It was a king, right?" She eats more in the prolong silence she created by him. It is no wonder she was being so quiet. She was to knowing of basic facts then other living people around her. She is satisfied her fill by the time that Curiosity had his voice again.

"I should have answered you questions before." He is finally as quiet speaking as she is, "I was informed that our book has undergone some altered content to add souls from lost pages of broken books. Books from other universes. We have no gods like other books do." She cross her arms around her stomach in habit and looks down.

"Yeah. I know. So there is an excuse to replace them or that we learned to adapt." She peers checking whom is close to listen. She isn't confident with this school to speak anything carelessly. She let's the words hang about in no further point. He sighs in taking her finished tray for her. She stays seated in wondering what next.

"You!" The demon bird was scales then feathers and a beak more a maw of row teeth. It flutters about dancing the table like an over excited child. It jolt forward into her arm for cuddles with deep loud purring. Slowly in a way of wiping itself on her. She finally plucked courage to pet it back and that she was even daring to scoop it with the same arm and let the feet dang about in trust as she stands with it. It buries into her happy that she doesn't change a bit.

"I was just wondering about what happened to you." She is very soft spoken. Mr Curiosity actually returned back in a stand off. He being eye to eye with Loki. She reads the tension fast and twirls in hiding loki, breaking gaze, "I really needed you more then just for what the book plans. You have really helped me through a moment of life and death. Kept me calm in a situation of panic. It means a lot to my humanity." The bird makes itself climb to her shoulder. Seated pride of place. Tail wag and head smears on the side of her. She so beyond use to it, it doesn't accure to her that it might actually put the school in mass panic.

"No pets allowed!" The headmaster appears out a wall, obvious use of demonic powers. He pointed finger at Loki. She tuts and watched Loki take the headmaster backwards where he came. She had even felt the slight hesitation of pages.

"Loki." She stomps a foot, "Stop licking the poor man and have some decency. He isn't going to kick me out of school because I am some pet. Rather its the mistake of his assumed your mine." That for sure kept the books closed and the bird reptile climbs from floor, up her leg and back. Ending in a deep stare match while seated comfortably on her shoulder again, "It be like you assuming that you own the book." She adds to further loki and he still confused, "Hades owning the hell hound of three heads." The jolt of being enlightened.

"Of course I am owned by the book like a pet. Those who aren't are just outsiders." She has some relief for it to be turned nerve once again.

"Young lady. You can't be suggesting that the hell bird had claim over your soul." He maybe a slight mess but the headmaster is fine. He glares instead of pointing his left hand about. She looks at the students giving sparkly eyes or maybe even jealousy. She stays still in as she is as honest as she can be without being unnecessary according to her books whims.

"Wow there." Curiosity clasped the headmaster in the shoulder at preventing repeat death attempts. He draws the headmaster out of veiw for a while. She sits back down at her lonely table, loki showing his love and ownership by smearing more of his scent. She was hugging her tummy as always, in slight tilts to easedrop while she was at it. To what or where, who knows. She listened to the tomes just as much she does with the room around her. There was no indication of which she was actually paying mind to at a given point.

She looks up at how some particular group came in together. Clearly a shared family or group of friends. They made all other people either turn all proper in manners or be out right treated like royalty. Rich clothing but nothing out of the normal for the others around here. It rings yo her mind that there is a slight possibility that she'd be related to them or someone among. The rumours are that her biological family pays the most around here. Although, no one has that mask thing going on or has it on show.

"Its a delicate situation." Another walking by main doors lining the cue with a tray, "The core book has been locked. The new keeper wasn't someone in the family, technically speaking. The attempt to summon it twice was prevented." She stops easedropping for the benefits of how there was someone watching her. Or rather the new group that walked in was just informed about the out burst by the headmaster. Gossiping began.

"Excuse me. Are you alright?" She not a fool to assume that it wasn't human. Regardless, she posed both arms away from her in showing she's fine. They softly tilted about Loki. She flutters her left hand dismissively and back to her comfortable sitting pose.

"Just new. Getting over the normality everyone else has. Trying to work out what is the social cues." She has even turned away as if not speaking to him at all, "I had to live my life pretending to ignore what I see. Now that everyone here can see a fraction if what I do. I have to work out what is drawing the line between normal and insanity." She does tilt in how Curiosity was back here with the headmaster a little pale then before, "I take it that you told them about what the..." She looks at loki and he knocked her cheek again, "the nightmare eater is."

"Given you said that. You happen to know how to properly rid of him."

"Why would something that protects boarders need being rid of? His not exactly able to harm the living without me." She sees the sort of reactions. The sneers by all three, "Nothing truly changes. At least from my perspective. The lines are drawn." She had meant that both ways. The barriers that the tome indicates as known and unknown are set. A spirit can't do anything to a living without a median to act between.

"You should have had a bird messager to tell you to head to the teacher offices." Curiosity being clear, "Glad I checked up with this case." Loki roughed up his scales and stops with being ready to be told off.

"You should at least tell me what the birds want before you devour them." She pokes Loki's nose, "Thanks for passing on the message. I will head there now." She careful stands up and picked up her backpack. She peers at how it was partly opened. She lowered to the floor at glaring at whatever did it. Loki burps in enjoying what it was. She sighed in closing the bag again. Just as a extra measure, she flicked her right hand in slamming all local books closed. The shock from the table nearby. She peers that way and swipes her hand in being sure the copies were returned to shelving. That echo again that had her free to pick loki up. The lazy trusting bird shape under arm. She tilts in looking for the way out and observing the exiting system. It is hard to judge what is the right way, so she takes the door that everyone is coming from. She gives a soft nod of leave and avoided being in touch with anyone she passes the corridor.

"Your never going to make freinds if you don't interact with them." Loki stated.

"Once the school finds out why you with me. No one is going to leave us alone. I even expect that some will come begging to annoy the book. They will disrespect me in order to take the title of keeper from me. They might even learn the hard way, that I don't get a choose in the matter they think they can rule." She softly pets Loki, "Besides I was always the weirdo that never fits in. Popular or infamous. Its the same."

She reached to glass double doors, massive compare to her small young height. In her mind she thinks she can push them, reality was that she struggles. But with effort, she managed it without help. She let the door close as the undertaker was right behind. For once, he had to open the door himself and walk through.

"You seem quiet independent." He notes.

"Aren't you?" She does wait for him a little but it ultimately the one walking as her own guide, "Loki... you can't eat the demon tree in the courtyard. It's protecting the courts here. Clearly this place is eclipsed which means you shouldn't just pick random folks because you feel like it. You should really only eat the ones with serious offence and were found guilty." She hold Loki up in front of her to be sure his listening, "And do not eat the devil lord. We both know his rotten meat." Loki huffed in accepting her orders and she feels bad, "If the book gives the ok. Well..." He tail wags at that. He took off and she arrives at the office building. She was being waited on, the students that were helping with teachers in this building all huffed annoyed at how young she is. Opens the doors with rolled eyes. She doesn't go in without looking at the other off things. Like the salt lines. She sees that Curiosity stays back. She takes her bag off and steps in. It seems require to check for weapons and other banned things. They were going to give the clear when someone stopped to hand her the bag back just yet. The student took a deep draw of breath, shivering.

"Is it my mask or the smearing from loki?" She asked. They jolted with presenting her bag quickly. She posed confused as the student is pulled away. An older student gives her a paper instead. She sees its blank and says nothing. She poke it and it was like she burnt it. They throw it and it crisped into ashes on the floor, "Oh... that's the colour paper. That's normal for me." She wags her finger from the right hand and the paper reforms whole and white, "There you go. Not wasted." The shivering student picks it up quickly.

"Just how old is she?" The shivering on asks. She sighs at how rude that they could have just asked her. She plucked her mask from running off. She has her bag back on and she crossed her arms as always. She peers the way the layout inside is not the orginal Manor house that it looked on the outside. There is hints of where a door to a living room was. A blocked off frame in the wall.

"Which door do I need to go to? The bird that was sent to me didn't give me the full message. It got ate... so." The older student waves with his left hand and guides her the way. Fire doors had to be pushed open anyways, and him being here was nice. She was very polite where she can be.

"Thank the gods!" The door they arrive at was thrown open even before reaching it. She doesn't know them but that mask and the necklace that dangles as the lady kneels to eye level. Went to put hands on her, she dobged them. She walked around the person and into the frame. She uses left hand to wave that nice student off, even with a slight smile. She steps properly into the room. Curiosity was here. He took a different route then. She noticed that the undertakers had the king too. She gives her respects of a soft bowed nod.

"You are very different to the other Seers. You actually respect undertakers." The headmaster was neat and his body double was the one in a mess from Loki. The same soul, was echoed in her mind. Maybe different tomes, she tilted. It had even put her into consideration of this being one those paradox things.

"I was brought up by my Mother and her family. We had nothing to do with my father's family... until now. I don't really have my thoughts in order about everything." She offered a seat and she got on herself and puts her bag at her lap. No help. Furiously independent and mature. It's putting her appears into juxtaposition. Her lack of fear and constant calm of everything was unnerving plenty, "It not meant to be my place to say things. I am just a child. My welfare is all that matters in the eyes of the laws. Although, I am surprised that not everything was disclosed about the several cases I been through." She thinks about it, "They must have sealed the records because of my age."

"Moving on to the topic we should be discussing." The headmaster coughs, "Welcome to our all ages boarding school. We hope that we can provide everything you need to make things easier when you return back to the normal world. Being gifted isn't always seen as a blessing." She makes her left hand flutter with how that didn't exactly matter with the formalities. The headmaster paused at this.

"I attempted to read the welcome booklet. Don't rehash it. I get it. I am grateful for being here. Even if it is poor circumstances, not to the scale of the others here but equally something to not go over again." She sighed, "Cut to the chase. Straightforward."

"Attempted?" The headmaster noted.

"Reading isn't my strongest skill. Ironic really." The headmaster wasn't impressed or something else. There is that express everywhere else has. She can already feel ready to expect the worse, "I have a learning difficulty. Focusing on white paper is difficult. Its why I look forward to going to a school that will help. It was never about my way of being able see or reacting to things that others can't see." Clearly they had not found all the transfer files from her constant move from school to school. She already this young and had been moved to 4 different schools. That's not including what her mask side of her went through before the book alterations.

"Many students have came here with your sort of background of being transfered often. It's just seems abnormal that it isn't odd behaviour that brought you to that situation. Nevertheless, we will have a learning tutor help you." The pause of the headmaster suddenly regretting what he just said and the girl flutters her left hand again.

"Its fine. I have seen many schools cope in different ways. You have to go through the standardised testing before judging what type of help is needed." She sighed, "Given the type of rich pants place it is. Finding a tutor isn't cheap. It's not something that you adults want to work out between yourselves." Hit between the eyes for sure. He was pale as his other half is, "I will make do with whatever little I can get. Affordability at the moment isn't exactly possible. I am not going to put myself in debt with total strangers. Not again."

"You maybe bad at reading and writting, given they go hand in hand." A undertaker interjected, "But you must be good at something else."

"Handling the occult issues for one. You try telling a god eater to not slobber on the devil." She sighed and spoke so casual about the subject that the person that mean to be her relation simple shivered. Stepping on ones grave really, "I do have agree that my cooking and candle making skills are on point. Small and young I maybe. I know my way around a kitchen better then most people." She flutters her right hand on accident with actually slams a book closed. She jolted forgetting which hand she used. She froze up instantly at waiting for a sort of angery comment or something. It seems fine for now. She sheepishly swaps hands, "I seem to make tea that pleases even the most angry of souls. I have a feeling that I am about to have to start boiling a kettle soon."

"You just used you right hand to do something." The undertakers looking around confused.

"I closed a book in someone face. Really sorry." She muttered, "I am sure I can help find the pages faster if you needed."

"That would be fantastic." She wasn't expecting someone in the room to reply so... brightly, "I am trying to access the family branch records." She turns their direction with inspecting them a long while. She doesn't recognise them. Equally this place does seem to filter looks. Curiosities hair looks more humanly nature blonde then straight out the video game screen. To that point, loki was a bird and not a cat. What the deal with that?

"Depends if you have the abilities to even read it." She ponders, "You trying to find my name or hers?" She rudely pointed to her relative. The being feels caught out in that same tangle of confusion that she is. Why exactly is she able to hear, see and even recognise the fella... the man is a death god by normal laws. Living people don't see. She turns away for the benefits of recognition that she is strange then even the strange folks here. Back to looking to the headmaster to get a hold of himself.

"So... you can see and hear. You see undertakers." The head master tilts to the invisible guest, "And death gods." Loki seems to crawled up out of no where. Climbed his way back to her shoulder and was back to adoring her as always. Knocking forehead frist to her face, "Whatever that is."

"We going to be here a long time if we just listing what you know. Just considering the connotations. It's a big enough list." She raised her right hand for a book to thrown itself to her. She opens her palm put as it flops the pages open to the right area. She moves her hand away and the book floats in the air. The death god shuffled forwards peering about the pages a while and tilted confused on what he was reading.

"Your last name isn't Seer?" She had nothing to do with what the book did next. It closed itself in the air. It for sure slams itself in return to the shelving it lives on. The after gust makes everyone flinch.

"Clearly frustrated with the prospects of repeating grades. I don't mind it but they do." She wasn't actually in conversation with anyone in particular in this statement. She was making obverse notes for the book to handle itself between and feel included to the business here.

"For the time being, I will have Curiosity follow you around. Maybe some others if he needed else where. We fill you in with the rules and maybe help tutoring. You are here because of us, so it be better that we helped you. No more strings attached." The king is just having to be reasonable for the actions his orders impacted her life. Meddling is just a undertakers duty, regardless of the obligation this was created from. She is different from the students thar were brought up to assume spirits are lesser beings. Her attitude and world veiw is equal parts a mess. Her background too.

"I appreciate this." She nods all the same.

"You use words beyond your age. prospects. connotation. what is next? you going to be able to use god words?"

"Is that the language of the gods or the divine charms used to enact minor miracles? Also also... what culture do you even use? Aren't you a sort of demon? Not a lord but a administrator under one." She looks at both of the two, "Are you broken or are you from two different tomes?"

"They are different books." The king clarified.

"Ok. That makes sense. I wonder then if that means there double courts areas." She pondered.

"The eclipses would normally prevent the two interactions mirror souls but this is the land of the living. Most hiding things are forced into different filters." She nods softly considering it.

"That actually makes sense. No wonder loki looks closer in some aspects then what he disguised as normally." She suddenly claps hands, "That means the dream people are visible!"

"Dream... people?" The headmaster is having a headache.

"Class. Come along." Curiosity helps her off the seat, "We can't talk about the walking system too." She takes her own bag and carried Loki like a doll. Before leaving a room she always rolls about her feet making last checks, her mask sneaking around doing things. She puts it on while closing the office door. Curiosity gives directions and disappears. She goes the way she came through, passing the two students at the entry waiting room. When she's put the salt area of the building, Curiosity was there with taking her the correct way in the school system. She still manages to push or pull doors herself in passing. Sometimes other were already passing through anyway holding it open. She always stays around following Curiosity, right up to the classroom.

She walks in alone without him. She do so confident but also not the normal way students expected from a newbie. She doesn't introduce or make any attempts to flatter anyone. She was softly kind to everyone with manners no matter who or what. She had even thanked a demon picking up something Loki knocked off her desk. Gossiping whispers of how clueless she seems but how she handles herself showed she wasn't. Never agreeing blindly. The act of not offering a name in itself was protecting her.

"Don't you have a servant?" She softly gave the impression of listening.

"I have someone I consider an odd freind." Curiosity quite instantly appearing with putting a dictionary at her desk, "It be rude to assume someone with a duty to be a servant to me. Besides, he works for a royal family. That's quiet respectable role." He clears his throat to give her attention back to the front. He posed in notion to make notes with things written on a black Chalk board. She gets right to it, to the best of her abilities. She became so focused that she ignored anyone trying to talk to her. Its neat for slow handwritten notes. It will be sloppy of she has to write faster. Practices in doing the letters correctly between lines is frustrating but takes time. Her sort on total absorption in working hard at the basics has put her as antisocial to the rest of the room. It's actually nearly commendable just how much she able to block out in order to focus. Yet equally, it's not like she can't hear them already trying to make up nasty names for her. For this moment, she doesn't allow it to matter. It will after class is over.

"Pardon the interruption." The fella was one the older students helping teachers. He was the guy from when she was at the headmaster's building. He passed her cotton gloves and had her medicine ready. She's still recovering from the Ivy burns among other hidden wounds.

"I had forgotten. Thank you." She takes ointment herself. The right amount on both hands and careful at putting the gloves on herself, "Sorry for wasting any time." She states when finished.

"Its fine." He pets her head and she pouted at that messing her hair. He took back the medication, "It goes in the fridge. It be at the staff Manor. Please stop by before you head to the dorms. The on site nurse needs to check your other bandages." She nods and waves casually seeing them leave. She is instantly back on focus, actually better focus with her hands not itching so badly. She didn't miss anything the teacher might have said while she sorted her hands out. It doesn't really quiet click to her what exactly this lesson is meant to be.

Maybe a social study with muti-layered educational segments. A touch of maths, science and history. Talking about electronic devices and examples of the past.

She grasped the overall lesson without quiet understanding what the aim is meant to be. She seems to grasp concepts much quickly the those around her, she already has footnotes of things she wanted to say but choose to be silent.

She stands out enough, answering the rhetorical questions that the teacher makes was likely going to made dvivde of her those around her worse. She doesn't want to end up in a group project and be the one being left out. Worse that it's a group activity and they make her do it alone. It has nothing to do with making friends of these people.

The bell comes quicker for those so in deep focus. Time sure just flies past. The day ends with the class standing attention. Not everyone does but plenty of a majority to speak some strange pledge. Not the American pledge either. Those that don't were seemingly out casts. Curiosity actually slips up a slight snicker that she wasn't pledging like a mindless doll. She frowns in not being sure what the deal is with that event. Not it passed and all packed bags. Social groups glance her way and made theories about what the deal was.

"Morpheus." She complains to the little thing on her lap, "Morpheus." She scratched where an ear normally is and it stretched lazy. He rolls showing belly to play cute, "Dude. I want to get up." He twists about and nearly missed jumping onto the desk, "And Dogs... move." Her command shuffled a bunch of things under the desk, "I am meant to be the child here." She sighed packing her stuff while finally standing up. The book floats in huffed pages at her, "Oi. Its no my fault that I am 8." She pointed at it. It hovers about and some pages were making fluttering sounds, "Thanks for reminding me." Whatever it was it reminding her of. It seems offended at being nearly left behind but her mask snatched it from air and pets the surface cover all the same. She was carrying Morpheus a now black snake coiled lovingly around her right hand. She has Loki on her left shoulder, reminder her that he loves her with knocking forehead first on her. She walks with the company of 'dogs' beside her. They lean on her at any chance able, making unstable walking. Gladly they look so freaky for people that she was given room to spare. Her mask walks beside Curiosity, the cloth figure was her mental age. Eye to eye with Curiosity.

"It is a pity that she really is young again." He sighs.

"I had a job and a side business before you turned the clocks back." The cloth poked his shoulder, "I wasn't kidding about the candles thing. I make candle that even god eater runaway from. You can guess my abnormal lifestyle has lead to me discovery what they like and dislike." She sighed softly, both living and shadow figure. Curiosity makes none of the reactions human do in surprise. Yeah he was surprised but reacting to the emotion was long lost a few lifetimes ago.

"How did the living courts go?" He asked in trying to keep focused to his task.

"How far back we talking? If you meant the recent ones. The two robbers were imprisoned for some length of time. The case wasn't smooth for my biological father but equally screws my poor mother to continue working four jobs. The shop guy is living as normal as it gets with post traumatic stress disorder. I continue trying live. The poison ivy burns. The stitches in my arm from the bullet... its apparently not closing itself from inflammation by the meds I having a allergy to." He blinks for sure trying to grasp what that had to do with a shadow person, "In term of being stabbed through the gut. My living side isn't my original body. That what I am like after time here was spun about." She posed herself to better look at his face, "Its been wonderful having a gaping hole through this me. Not to mention my missing fragments." He stops walking instantly and her shadow side twirls back around her living self. The book puts itself into her backpack, zipped closing with no hands. She pushed a door open to look back at his full stop without her. A terrible expression it seems. She ignores it, not like she had anything to say to make the turth easier.

"Look, the orphan of our family." All this people are wearing neat pressed clothing, all of them have a looped symbol necklace and looking at their aftimages shows the mask. She doesn't quiet know if that was a comment to disrespect something about her or that this was how it was explained by adults.

"Are you heading to the nurse?" that older kid is one of them. She knew he had to been.

"I am. Just following the school system." She gently speaks in her normal causal tone. That painted a real divide. Some that seem to know something and the others that haven't a clue. Those clueless set were pushed away as the others give a bow, "You only have to be formal to us if you had business to discuss. Anything else will be whatever appropriate for the situation. Personal I would like to be causal." The deep glares, "Tampering with things that isn't ours to grasp. That is unforgiveable. Understand that I respect what the book means and what it is. I am 8 but I am not ignorant. Consider this a sort of bridge for us to get along better. If you don't even want to make the effort them just leave us alone. I will put aside some the misjudgement I might have from not knowing you all personally."

"That's actually being considerate and the adult then they are." The oldest notes.

"It must be nice to afford things. You take it for granted."

She chooses to walk away from them. To many of the group see her as a ill mannered brat. Or maybe they all do but hide it better. This much she had seen it coming, the misjudgement from how poorly the adults might have or had not explained things to them. The stigma and bias was bound to always be. Being far enough away from them and ou from class tin shed barn. She let's some of that emotion she held back out. Wiping tears away carefully and quietly. She does her best to get her self Contorl back. Makes a unsteady journey for the nurse office.
