Leonard Churchill bowed courteously, "May I invite you to dance?"

Upon hearing this, Catherine Carter somehow felt a stir in her heart and, for the first time, didn't refuse outright, "Oh, could you give me a reason to accept your invitation?"

Leonard asked, "Is Miss Carter getting engaged soon?"

Catherine Carter's eyes sparkled with surprise, she couldn't believe an outsider would know about this, "Why do you say that?"

Seeing her slightly surprised expression, Leonard thought to himself, did he actually guess right?

However, he continued to say, "My grandmother once told me that if a beautiful lady rejects nine gentlemen who invite her to dance, she should accept the tenth one. Otherwise... it means she is engaged."

Catherine Carter listened and gave a noncommittal smile, "That's a very outdated court custom. No one has observed it since the foundation of the Federation."
