45 Answer For Herself

The Emperor was a greedy man.

It could be said that all the Emperors were greedy. They wanted to have all the power there was as they are the only ones who would use the four elements. They were superior to the rest.

"Does the diary say that they can use the sub-elements if they want to?" Duke Salvador asked as he looked at Cassandra who was in deep thoughts.

The fifth Princess's eyes were down at her hands where she held the papers. Her long eyelashes fluttered as her fingers on the paper tightened.

"I don't know .." Cassandra managed to say. Although it was true that she could read the contents it was also true that Cassandra did not understand some of it.

Cassandra had already told it to the Duke but she was afraid to say that to him. He had asked her for help and for the first time Cassandra was feeling helpless that she could not reply to all the things that the duke was asking her about.

Aiden knew what Cassandra was feeling. Her feelings were too visible on her face. She was like an open book who could not know how to hide unlike the diary in question.

"It's fine." Duke Salvador said. "Then you tell me how much of the book you have to finish reading."

Cassandra looked up from the pages in her hand. "I have read it all once but …"

"But?"

"I was able to understand only a third of it." Cassandra managed to say. "But there are still some places in them that I could not understand in between."

"Hmm …"

Duke Salvador nodded as he got up from the couch. He looked out and saw that the sun was slowly getting down. It was clear that the Princess had to go.

He walked towards the table and took the diary from the table as he walked back towards the Princess.

"Take this with you and write it down."

Cassandra took the diary as she looked at the Duke. If taking the diary away with her meant she did not have to come to the Duke's mansion soon? But the Duke's next words crushed all her thoughts.

"Come here once in two days to inform me of all the other things written in it. Make sure that you completely copy all the things within the next two weeks. I cannot hold on to a book more than that."

Cassandra flipped as she nodded. Coming to the mansion once every two days was too much for her. But Cassandra knew that she could not say anything else to the Duke.

"Make sure that the Princess comes here alone." Duke Salvador said with a smile. "I do not want to find more work for people."

Cassandra's gaze shook. She tried to say something but before she had a chance the door opened.

"That would be a little difficult." Lord Bentham said in a sharp tone. He was walking towards the two with a steady force and a smirk playing on his lips.

Lord Bentham did not stop but sat on the couch beside Cassandra as if it was his natural place.

Aiden's gaze shook at this. His hands subconsciously formed a fist as he tried to suppress the brewing anger in him.

Duke Salvador did not know what he was angry about. His friend coming inside the room with his permission? Lord Bentham disregarding his position in his own mansion? Or acting intimate with the fifth Princess even when the time they had met was less than that he had spent with her?

But Aiden could not come up with an answer. He could not help it as he took some deep breaths. After controlling his rapidly beating heart Duke Salvador also sat on the couch beside Cassandra.

Cassandra was awkward. She wanted to get up but she knew that she could not. Both the men were looking at her as if she was invisible.

Cassandra swallowed hard as she blinked thinking of ways to get up and soon she found it. Cassandra got up suddenly as she smiled at nobody in particular. "I am thirsty .." Cassandra's voice trembled as she walked towards the glass on the table.

Cassandra did not see anything else as her destination was in her sight. She walked and took hold of the glass and drank the water in a hurry. She looked at the couch where both the men were looking at her.

Cassandra smiled innocently as she poured more water into the glass. She drank it as Cassandra turned to avoid the piercing gaze on her. But soon Lord Bentham's thoughts came running in her mind. Soon Cassandra's moment slowed as she sat on the chair.

[What are you trying to do?]

[Sending me to a close place to review documents. What are you thinking?]

Lord Bentham looked at Duke Salvador with narrowed eyes. He could not understand what the Duke was thinking anymore. He could only figure out that something was going on between the two. The pages on the table were the proof but it was empty.

"I would like to take the Princess back now." Lord Bentham said as he got up from the couch. A smile played on his face.

"A soldier can accompany her back. You don't have to take action here." Duke Salvador got up too as he smirked at his friends.

"How is it possible?" Lord Bentham looked at the fifth Princess who was staring at them as if enjoying the cat and dog fight. "After all, I am the one who got her out."

"Got her out?" Aiden looked at Cassandra who looked down when Duke Salvador's gaze collided with her.

"Yes. And I don't think the Princess would be able to visit you anytime soon."

"The Princess can answer for herself."

"Yes, she can but I am the one who had to bring her here."

"She can find her way."

"She can." Lord Bentham smiled as he extended his hand towards Cassandra who took it. "But it is inconvenient for her to go out without getting caught. And it is also inconvenient for my fiance to be alone with the Duke in his mansion."
