7 Through the Darkened Hallways

Jules' pov

"Watch it, dimwit." A voice growled right after a wall of brick walked right into me, causing me to lose my footing at once.

Pain shot through my leg and I let out a curse underneath my breath.

Why the hell was this happening right after I exited that god forsaken classroom?

When I finally glanced up from the ground, I noticed that everyone in the hallway had stopped what they were doing to stare at what's currently unfolding in curiosity. A few of them were whispering amongst themselves and I wondered why they were acting like this is something completely new.

I mean, two students walking into each other in a school. That's one of the most normal occurrences in school.

And why wasn't the person who had walked into me apologizing?

When I glanced up at him, I felt my breath slow down to a stop in the middle of my throat. The student, who had walked into me and caused me to fall, was a snake shifter. He smelled deadly and a shiver slid down my spine almost immediately.

Not wanting him to apologize any longer, I made to rise to my feet, but a kick landed on my knee, causing me to fall back down on a groan.

Fuck. That hurt.

"Are you blind or something? Why the fuck were you walking in my way? Huh? You've ruined my entire day and you're gonna pay for that." He growled and I flinched at the force behind his voice.

No one was making a move to intervene when I glanced around. They didn't seem shocked by what was happening, causing me to come to the conclusion that this certainly didn't just start happening.

Taylor was plastered against the wall on my left side, eyes wide in what I'd term as terror, and that was what probably made me finally realize that I was in deep shit right now.

"B- but, I didn't do anything, you were the one who walked into me and caused me to trip—" I was still speaking when a kick got delivered into my stomach, causing me to cry out in pain while coughing through the force of it.

"Are you nuts? Who the hell are you to talk back to me, huh?" The snake shifter growled and I shivered in fear. "You must be new here to have pulled a shit like that, I certainly haven't seen this face before." The snake shifter continued, and then he motioned a student over, one who quivered in fear as he walked forward.

The snake hybrid then asked the student who I was.

"H- he just e- enrolled today." The student stuttered out in response, and the snake shifter snorted before waving the student away and I watched as he literally ran off.

"Just enrolled huh? Daddy's money was a mile high for him to be able to pull that off." The snake shifter crooned out and a few students who weren't completely frightened all laughed, while I cowered even more, stomach twisting in pain and fear.

"You've made a mistake though. I'm gonna make your life hell in this school, and your daddy's money isn't gonna be able to prevent that from happening, got it?" The snake hybrid declared after crouching in front of me till he was staring into my eyes. His eyes were a bright jade color, one which reminded me of the flower vase in Anya's bedroom.

As pain bloomed in my heart and tears prickled my eyes, I nodded my head numbly in response. The snake shifter scoffed on noticing the sheen of tears in my eyes, and then he leaned forward and sniffed at me, clearly trying to detect what class of supernatural beings I belonged to.

"M- my wolf's dormant." I whispered at once, not wanting this one to start wondering if I was human or not right in front of everyone present in this hallway. He scoffed as he rose to his feet and pocketed his arms.

"Thought as much. Daddy dearest was probably disappointed by your incompetence and decided to throw you in here, not knowing that he threw you in a den of monsters." The snake hybrid mused and as everyone laughed once again, a dreaded feeling settled over me.

"Man, are we gonna have so much fun with you." He continued, and then he placed his right leg forward.

"Now, kiss my feet to show how sorry you are, I have somewhere important to be at right now." He ordered and I recoiled as disgust flooded my stomach.

"W- what? I- I can't!" I cried out and another murmur rose through the gathered crowd. When I glanced at Taylor, his eyes were blown wide and he shook his head urgently, motioning for me to do as I was told to.

The snake hybrid was silent throughout, eyes watching my every move. I didn't want to imagine what he'd do to me if I refused again, and so I sucked in a deep breath and ignored everyone's eyes as I bent forward and kissed the shoe which despite smelling brand new and looking like it cost millions, bile still rose in my throat.

The snake hybrid delivered one more kick in my side before crossing my body and heading down the hall with a bunch of students which I assumed were his crew.

Taylor rushed to my side at once and helped me up. "Jules! Are you okay?" He asked urgently as I scowled as I tried not to limp unfailingly.

"Do I look okay to you? What the hell is wrong with this damn school?" I demanded while trying to balance on my right leg to no avail. I cursed under my breath on realizing that the snake shifter might have sprained my ankle.

"I'm so sorry, Jules. Let's get you to the infirmary right away." He urged and I jerked away from him, which led me to almost land on my ass once again, but he was quick to hold unto me once again.

"No! Let's go to the principal's office first." I gritted out through the pain shutting through my leg and stomach.

Taylor blinked at me like I was crazy.

"Why?" He inquired, like I needed to sleep it out for him.

"To report that fucking bully, along with those three dudes from our class!" I responded through another pant. At first, I was determined to not attract attention, but now that it was hell bent on flocking towards me, it's best I try to control it before it gets worse. What better way to do that than to report the bullies to the school?

Taylor's lips were pursed as he spoke.

"Are you crazy?"
