26 Entry 20 - Invitation (Kyrell)

Every time she visits it's more of an inspection than it is a day off. Honestly, I love my grandmother, but her constant interrogation on employees about their dedication to me is a handful. Many come to me during their early days saying stuff like:

"Your family has really high standards huh boss?"

Or.

"I passed the test boss, here's to a bright future!"

I barely even know what she asks, yet everyone just seems to accept the fact that the test is legitimate. It's not.

Though this time around, I am quite relieved that she approved of Aloe, I don't know what I would do if she rejected her. I hired Aloe since it was a request, so there was no interview and my grandmother, despite her kindness, had high standards and if those weren't met then forget about even stepping a foot in her business. It really makes me wonder how she managed to gain so many employees with principles like that.

Anywho, Aloe didn't share with me the questions she was asked, no one does, but the mere fact that, despite being a succubus, she managed to convince my grandmother is a relief. Now only if Coco's goes as well, but it should be fine, hopefully… has she already done it actually? I probably shouldn't overthink this.

Besides the interrogation, there was one other reason why my grandmother wanted to come to the inn.

Hololive.

Yes, apparently my grandmother got obsessed with them that she even bought merchandise, for every member.

She literally came brimming with posters, figurines and even body pillows. She also prepared a notebook just to grab their signatures, she went full otaku for her visit.

This is why after she spent some time drinking the night away with Aloe, she pulled me aside and talked about a new endeavour she wanted to work on. What was it? A Vtuber group!

Oh dear lord, she probably did it out of impulse, but the fact she even went through with it and had already started talking about it to other investors tells me she's not backing down from the decision. Furthermore, she had already planned who's going to be in it… me!

She even made it look very formal with a red envelope and everything, but I couldn't really take it seriously since she had her Okayu body pillow next to her. I really didn't need a picture of Okayu in just a shirt while having a conversation about a business venture.

Putting that aside for now, I told my grandmother that I wouldn't be participating because I'm not really into the streaming thing. It looks fun I'll admit that, but I'm not really an entertainer type of person. Sure I work in an inn and handle my guests but I don't have to do commentary on what game I'm playing or talk about what sort of crazy thing that happened to me the other day.

I thought I could convince her enough, but my grandmother insisted on it, telling me she didn't want me to be stuck in the inn all my life. My guess is that this entire Vtuber thing was also a way for her to just relieve me of my duties here in Aelin. I'm fully aware that my grandparents only allowed me to take care of this place is because I did it voluntarily when in reality, it really would've just been sold.

Following this line of thought, I asked her about what would happen to the inn and surprise, surprise, she was going to sell it.

This inn, the inn where she and grandfather first became a couple, to their engagement and later wedding, it's full of memories and yet they were ready to throw it away just so I would no longer have to stay.

It says a lot about my family if the head of it is now in front of me, asking me to leave a precious piece of history.

Still, even if I did leave the inn, go with her to the city to help with her business, it won't end well. If this Vtuber group is successful and my uncles, aunts or cousins find out, they'll do everything in their power to try and pry it off my hands. It doesn't matter whether it was inherited or even given, they've got their ways.

The only reason why they haven't gone after the inn is because they found it to be completely useless and thought it was fitting for the black sheep of the family to have the pigsty.

Anywho, after our conversation and my constant refusal, my grandmother said she wouldn't give up on hiring me stating only I could run the way it's meant to be. Therefore, she left me to think about it for a month or so, which most likely means she's relying on those three to convince me to join, which then means they were also invited to this Vtuber group.

Fantastic, just fantastic.

I love my grandmother, but she's taking a massive risk by hiring me to be in this company. I honestly don't want to cause a civil war, why can't they just leave me here?
