1 Careless Mother

It was one early morning, the trees and flowers were wet with dews, the street was full of silence and it was only the sounds of moving vehicles that could be heard singing their lullabies. Racheal was up from bed Aalready on hearing the sound of the clock sing 'good morning, good morning' as she programed it to be . Racheal knew that it was 6am in the morning already. On her way to the bathroom, she heard a knock on the door, it was her mom who has come to help her prepare for school on time.Enuego quickly prepared something for breakfast .they had a short prayer, after which Racheal had something to eat. "Peep peep" "peep peep", it was the sound of raheal's school bus out the gate of their house. "Darling, pls hurry up, your school bus is here ".

Enuego said grabbing the hands of her daughter straight to the direction of her school bus. On getting there, she gave her peck on the cheek, asking her to be a good girl in school. She waited until the bus left waving her daughter a good bye.

Enuego returned to the house, and decided to do her normal house chores, she made sure to clean the rest room, floor, kitchen ,rooms and dinning.then she proceeded to the living room with a rag and broom in her hands,just had she was about cleaning the table with the rag, raising her head up her eyes caught sight with the pictures on the wall,were she was carried by her husband in his hands, on the day of their marriage.she became so week and her eyes were full of tears , as she could remember all the wonderful and beautiful moment she shared with her husband before he passed away after the incident that took place on the 31st of August 2015.

Enuego could remember how she had called her husband on the phone, and gave him the good news that she was pregnant, he was so full of Joy and excitement that he decided to get something special for her on his way back from work to celebrate the occasion, he also promised to love her more and give her the care she deserves.as at exactly 4:30pm enuego heard the horn of her husband car by the gate of their house out side the house.she knew he was the one, because it was his normal closing hour.

Enuego ran outside to open the gate for him, she managed to open the gate wide open for him to enter, smiling at him as they both sited at each other as he brought his head out looking at his wife who was busy she was opening the gate . People were also busy in the street working up and down,when sundenly gun shorts were heard in the air, everyone bent down to take coverage,and so did enuego. After some few minutes, when she noticed that every were is now calm,she quickly stood up and ran to her husband in the car hoping that he was save and busy taking coverage as well.

Enuego called out to her husband who was resting his head on his stirring, Charles, Charles you can now lift up your head and drive in, I think we are now save, everyone is up again, the hoodlums are gone. When she saw that he was not lifting up his head, that was when she shouted in panic lifting up his head, only to notice a gun short, on his head,she screemed at the top of her voice, and before knowing it,she was surrounded by people, who consoled and sympathized with her .

Some women grabbed her quickly ,while the men Investigatex the scene.One Malam amongst them started saying and lamenting,( Madam that time wey dey they shoot gun, as I dey run, na him I see this oga ,he bewon run come out, as police they posue those thief,dey shoot, the bullet come by mistake enter the man head. But madam no worry, police go cash this boys .

Just as they were discussing, the men of the that area came with an ambulance to take him to the hospital. Enuego followed and she was accompanied by some women.but on getting to the hospital, unfortunately for enuego,after the doctor examined her husband, he confirmed that he was dead.

Enuego lamented in pain as she fell on the floor crying and begging her deceased husband to come back. "Charles pls come back for me, don't do this to me, remember this is not what you promised me, Charles pls, I can't do with out you, pls Charles oooooooooooooooo.

The women surrounded her and consoled her, enuego remembered how she was accused of killing her husband by his familyembers, and she was thrown out the house immediately after his burial.

Enuego surmoned courage to countinue her work, knowing that her daughter will soon be back from school.as soon as she was through, she quickly entered the kitchen to prepare lunch for herself and Rachel who will soon be back from school.
