66 Chapter 66: Root's Anbu vs. Genji S part 1.
Sorry I haven't managed to bring more chapters, but I haven't had time because of the schedules I have at the crappy job, so I barely have a little time to myself and less to upload chapters on the days I have off.
As I have heavy days, I'm thinking that I might have to upload chapters from the time I have to write and the number of chapters I manage to write.
I just want to warn you that I don't plan to abandon the novel until I manage to finish it since that was my intention when I started writing the novel.

Genji's clone was intently observing what was going on within his range of detention as he carefully watched the shinobi's movements while giving support to his partner Naruto and giving him directions on how to rescue the rescue squad that was captured.
While normally it shouldn't be this difficult to rescue their village's ninja team, things seemed to get a bit complicated with the arrival of a new group of ninjas on the battlefield.
"Ok, this is going to get ugly!!!!".
Pronounced the clone as he watched the new invading group split into two groups in different directions.
The first was heading to the rescue squad and the other group was heading to where Genji was absorbing the fuinjutsu chakra.
The clone clasped both hands together as he wiggled two fingers in a stressed manner to figure out which would be the best decision due to the approaching enemies.
The clone made his decision with ease as he sensed the familiar chakra and gave Naruto the last indications before disappearing along with Tenteikura's ability and finally leaving Genji with a larger chakra reserve for the problems he will have to face.
The cube-like dome shattered as the clone disappeared while producing sounds of crystal shattering and crumbling into a million shards of dark crystal that quickly vanished from the scene as if they had never existed.

In another part of the terrain ...
Several kilometers away from the spot where Genji's clone had disappeared, some branches were cut cleanly by the wind-style jutsu, leaving half-destroyed branches and trees around the spot with traces of blood on some tree leaves.
"RASENGAN!!!".
The blue spiral hit the last anbu Naruto faced fooling the anbu with a feint and throwing a kunai transformed clone that went over the anbu's head shortly after breaking his technique where he surprised the anbu by Naruto's clone appearing over the anbu head.
Where Naruto distracted the anbu long enough and let his shadow clone finish him off with the Rasengan all over his back, internally destroying several organs and the anbu spine.
The anbu was blasted off in the direction of the ground with force and left a small crater with its inert body.
"That was rough."
Naruto said as he jumped over some tree branches and approached Neji's body who was resting for a bit before continuing on his way to manage to help his companions.
Neji was amazed by Naruto's technique and his ingenious way of defeating his opponent, although his face was tired and didn't let any expression show on his face.
He was a bit dazed and self-absorbed with Naruto.
"Looks like we can finally continue on our way, Neji~".
Naruto told him as he lifted Neji off the ground and placed him on his shoulder.
"Not again!".
Neji whispered resentfully as he was placed like a sack of potatoes and shaken slightly as Naruto jumped between the tree branches.

After time passed, Genji was still in a comfortable and relaxed position as he continued to absorb the chakra from the maze calmly, but he had felt his technique disappear along with his shadow clone, and a lot of information started to come into his brain.
The clone disappeared to learn of numerous shinobi approaching at high speed the field where he and Naruto were.
"Tch, that snake bitch had to get here at this hour."
Genji cursed his bad luck and put aside his calm way of doing things to stand two steps away from the central seal of the maze, having his hand placed as close to the seal as possible.
A strong rush of chakra began to build up inside the small seal of the maze and with a strong current of wind fused with chakra, the massive maze rumbled for about ten seconds before it began to exhibit fractures in most of the area where the jutsu was located.
"What a waste of chakra...".
Genji said as he watched the chakra of the labyrinth being released into the atmosphere.
"Never would I have thought that Orochimaru himself would make an appearance on the battlefield to achieve his greatest goal without failing? Looks like Sasuke will have the asterisk discarded by the end of the day heh, heh, heh... Well, it's not one of my biggest problems or interests at the moment, but the real problem is the damn crawling snake itself."
Genji put his hand to his chin to mentally calculate the most beneficial option for his survival.
"Indeed, Sasuke will be the best sacrifice for the team, he, he."
Genji clasped his hands together to pray for Sasuke's livelihood.
"It's a pity he doesn't have that much chakra accumulated to put a zero all over his face, but that day may not be long away, and he'll have a very good chance in the future."
Genji said to himself in exaltation as he looked closely at the ground he was standing on, which was beginning to appear small cracks and slowly crumble along with the letters of the seal fading slightly before fading away.
"*Sigh* The time has come for action and to try to forget all the past regarding Temari."
The sigh was short but determined from Genji about his former foolish crush on Temari.
The breeze in the air was present as Genji disappeared from the spot he built up chakra in his feet to take a high jump while using his "unfocused assault" ability to cover his body with dark particles to disappear from the surroundings.
Dirt and dust were appearing around the area, while before long a loom of dust would rise and obstruct the view for a brief moment, while the colossal maze was mostly destroyed by the lack of chakra, leaving small remnants of dirt in place.
*Throwing his fingers on his hand and neck,* "Time to polish my assassin skills and see what improvements I've made in this short time."
Genji spoke in a calm and passionate voice as he released more chakra from his body, letting it circulate throughout his body, where shortly two dark sickles appeared on his forearms ready to cut down anything that came his way.
"Let's see if Danzo's hunting dogs are as good."
Genji prepared for the hunt, where his body melted into the surrounding shadows and mysteriously disappeared from the scene again.

A different point of view.
The mission entrusted by Lord Danzo did not go as planned and the plan failed in its entirety due to the bad amount of chakra we had between all of us, but for some reason, I feel it was caused by someone; however, this mishap would not affect our entrusted task.
Even if our greatest weapon failed at the best of times, it worked for its longest possible time, greatly reducing the attack power of our victims along with great attrition of their minds.
Leaving something we could work with to exploit our targets, so we could get on with the mission and finish it as quickly as possible.
Our squad watched our targets from a distance and gauged the possible actions they might take as the fight broke out once again.
"Number 3, 4, 5, and 7 occupy your respective defense and support positions... The rest of you prepare traps and attack their weakest points."
I announced the plan as we moved very carefully through the terrain, but my team knew perfectly well that everything I had said was nothing more than a sham to confuse the person who might have damaged the seal of the labyrinth or someone lurking in the shadows.
When the labyrinth had been mostly destroyed and left some earthen debris around the place.
A strong jolt was felt as two formidable arms of solid sand appeared and lifted the earthen debris from the ground and tossed it aside.
As we waited for some odd ninja to appear on the ground, the voices of our targets spoke in joyous tones as they learned that they had made it out of the labyrinth alive.
"Finally out of that damn maze," Kankuro said, with Gaara confirming his words.
"Don't even mention it." Temari.
My face remained normal throughout, but I couldn't hide the excitement when I saw the state they were in, as they had on their bodies some marks and wounds on their bodies looking tired.
"The mission will be completed more easily."
I spoke in a low tone, preventing them from hearing my voice, as all my companions moved slowly through the grassy environment, avoiding leaving any traces, sounds, or smells as we moved.
We moved into a position that would impede the movements and escape of our targets, taking advantage of the terrain of the location, but my ninja instincts kicked in as I tried to move to the side.
I only managed to hear how a sharp metallic sound easily cut the flesh with a faint black color that assaulted me in microseconds, leaving my senses sensitive to the intense pain I felt shortly after.
My body experienced what it was like to be pierced by two sickles of darkness that had diagonally split my entire torso from top to bottom, dividing my body into two parts.
My limp body fell to the ground as blood gushed out of my body along with my intestines spilling out onto the cold floor.
"M-CURSED!!!! *Cough*."
I cursed my assailant with the last of my strength as I watched a small ninja from my village clean his weapon with only a wave of his two hands, wearing a completely different combat outfit than the one I remembered from the organization's archives.
"G-Genji... Sshimada *cough*"
"To think that was all a Root elite ninja can do. I expected better, but they're nothing more than cheap tools created by Danzo."
Said my assailant with amusement as I felt his eyes look at me as mere trash, making me look small, but the courage was greater as I listened to the taunts he was making to lord Danzo.
I was at my last moment as I was losing my vision; however, I managed to faintly make out his silhouette before he walked calmly towards the next target.
"DIE!"
I whispered before activating the seal placed on my body to prevent our bodies from being of any use to our enemies, letting my body slowly produce steam through the rest of my body and quickly ignite, leaving a loud explosion to detonate with my death.
*EXPLOSION!*.
