No goodbyes are forever

Anna put a hand over her heart. She couldn't stop herself from the blame game for what happened to Nikki.

"It's my fault." She muttered, staring at Nikki's unconscious form, her eyes brimming with tears.

Kristofer pulled her to his side and rubbed her shoulders.

"It's not your fault. It's nobody's fault."

Jacob came rushing by a few minutes later, his eyes frantic as he joined Nikki, squeezing her hand.

Anna couldn't bear to look.

She pushed Kristofer away and ran for the exit.

Outside, she put a hand over her face, squeezing her eyes shut and letting the tears fall.

Grieving with and for Nikki, the weight of it caused her lungs to feel clogged.

She wanted to disappear then. She wanted to run so far away and tell Nikki how sorry she was by a note. 

Anna felt like she no longer deserved to be Nikki's best friend.
