59 She Wasn't My Girl

“Excuse me, Miss E!” she called, running after Ellise.

She could hear the heels of her shoes echoing through the empty corridor.

She blew an air of irritation. She exited at the back so that she wouldn't have to deal with the production crew.

Also, because she was hiding from the floor manager of the show that told her right after she finished her interview, that the audience adored her so much, and that they would love to do another interview with her.

She declined, of course! Why would she put herself in a situation that she loathed.

But then, here’s Asya, running after her. She wondered what she wants.

She stopped walking and waited for her to approach. Come to think of it. This is just the second time they see each other face to face. The first one wouldn’t even be considered face to face, since Asya was clinging to DT's neck at that time - like a monkey on a tree.

Today is the first time they ever talk to each other.

When Asya stood in front of her she didn’t say anything and just waited for her to speak.

“Uhm, the producer of the show would like to have an interview with you after the game.”

When she saw the disinterest in Miss E’s eyes, she added, “It doesn’t have to be a sit-down interview. We could just record a few minutes of you answering some of our questions after the game,” she forced herself to smile.

She hated the fact that this girl made a fool of her during the live interview, but she couldn't do anything when the producer of the show wanted her in the segment later.

She used to be a host of the game. A commentator even. Now, those jobs were handled by men only, and she was left in the side, to interview these brats.

And not only that her measly job position was being threatened too since there were a lot of younger, and prettier girls who can do the hosting job. Which she agreed! Anybody can do this job. And yet, here she is fighting to keep this job because whether she accepts it or not, she is now nothing but has been in this industry.

Popularity is a huge part of the gaming industry. It’s not enough that you are good, because there is always someone that is better than you.

A fan base is important if you want to stay longer in the industry especially for her that is no longer playing. And her dwindling fan base would go down again after what happened in the interview. She saw a lot of the audience who were bashing her on the live stream.

She couldn’t understand why this girl got a lot of following and people loved her when she was very rude and not even hiding it. While she was having a hard time keeping her on-screen persona of being friendly.

“So, what do you say?” She gave her a friendly smile.

“No.”

Hearing Miss E’s answer lost the smile she had on her lips. This girl was truly testing her patience.

“A five minutes interview, probably three to five questions weren’t too much, right?”

She hated her guts, but she needed her to accept an interview because otherwise, her neck would be on the line.

“I’m sorry, but I already gave my answer, and it is a no.”

She turned around and left her, but it seemed like she badly needed to do another stupid interview for she followed her still.

“Miss E, I know that you didn’t enjoy the live interview, that’s why we will do a pre-recorded one. We gave you a list of questions and you can pick three questions that you want to answer.”

The producer wanted more for the interview, however, with her blatantly refusing everything she has no choice but to haggle with her.

She bit her cheeks and put a lid on her annoyance, and tried to convince her once again.

“Miss E, I am sure Mr. Wan would want you to do this interview for your team.”

She stopped and looked over her shoulder, “Listen Asya, I will not do another interview… with you.”

She enunciated the last two words which made Asya’s face turn red in rage. She clenched her hands on her side as she stood straight, meeting Ellise icy stare.

“I don’t understand -- I mean, your refusal of the interview feels personal. I don’t understand.”

Ellise scoffed. She could fall for her actions if she didn't have an innate talent for spotting bullshit. And she knew for a fact that Asya was one of those who had no qualms to act like damsels in distress to get what they want.

She was about to turn the corner when she heard a familiar murmuring that made her steps falter.

“Listen, Miss E --”

Ellise gave Asya a look that made her shut up.

She stood and listened to the conversation that was happening around the corner. Asya must have realized what was happening that she finally kept her mouth shut and stepped closer to her to join her in eavesdropping on the conversation between DT and Grand.

“I was just saying that you can’t tell me off with my relationship with Miss E when she is not your girlfriend.”

“It is not your business to question my relationship with Miss E.”

“Tch, funny that Miss E doesn’t share your sentiments.”

His eyesight blurred when he heard what Grand said, he lost himself and pushed him to the wall. Grand wasn’t expecting it, thus, he got slammed quite strongly on the wall.

“Leave Ellise alone!” he hissed between teeth.

“You can’t tell me to leave her alone when you don’t have any relationship with her.”

He pushed DT back. He has no plan to fight with him about Miss E, but this guy was being annoying, telling him what to do and how to act with Ellise!

“Dude, you have a girlfriend! I play around with girls but I have the decency not to be in a relationship with girls all at the same time!”

DT squinted his eyes on Grand and in a clear voice said, “Asya is not my girlfriend. Was not, and won’t be.”

Grand’s jaw slacked in surprise.

Ellise, who was eavesdropping, threw a glance on her shoulder to see Asya, who upon hearing what DT said stepped out of the corner.

There is a dangerous glint in her eyes.

Ellise sighed. “Another drama. Can’t I just play CTF?” she mumbled under her breath.
