First To Say Sorry

“Here are your room keys. The Big Boss wants all of you in his room in the next fifteen-minutes for a briefing,” he said, distributing the room keys. “Sorry Miss E,” he smiled apologetically at her, giving her the room key.

“Why are you saying sorry?” she asked Ghost while accepting the key for her room. She wasn’t sharing with anyone since she’s the only girl member of the WIZ.

“Fifteen minutes isn’t probably enough time for you to freshen up,” he told her with a smile.

“I don’t need fifteen minutes to freshen up,” she told Ghost bluntly. Then walked away to find her room.

Grand patted Ghost’s shoulder as he watched Miss E take the elevator to her room.

“You’ll be fine. She’s just not into you.” He nodded with fake sympathy with Ghost, who went aghast at how Miss E treated him so coldly.

“Shut it! And get ready for the game briefing.” he slugged his duffel bag and walked to the elevator where most of the team members were already waiting for them to get into.

He kept his cool, but he was a bit shocked at how Miss E acted. He glanced over his shoulder to throw DT a look. It was his fault that Miss E was being unfriendly with him. Had he not requested for Miss E to sit next to him, she wouldn’t have been so cold towards him.

However, these next five days are essential for the team. They need to be in a top-notched condition to play well in the competition. Mr. Wan wouldn’t like it if they lost. He doesn’t want to reprimand any member of the team now, especially DT- the team captain.

“See you, after I freshen up.” he grinned at Ghost clearly taunting as he stepped out of the elevator with Dumpling, Seven, and One. They have their room a floor lower than the other members.

The hotel was fully booked because other teams were also checked in in this hotel. Mr. Wan was annoyed with the fact that he wasn’t able to book rooms for the team on the same floor.

He hopes that the Big Boss was occupied with other things about the competition and not talked about the room reservation at the briefing. He doesn’t want to see the annoying face of Grand if the Big Boss scolds him because he would take all the opportunity to piss him off.

He had a very bad habit of being obnoxious as a way of releasing his stress. And he is his favorite target every time.

“What floor is Miss E’s room?”

He was startled when DT asked the moment the elevator closed after the group of Grand.

“She is in room 920. So, the same floor with Grand,” he answered curtly.

DT clenched his jaw hearing that Miss E would be sharing the same floor with Grand. He took a deep breath trying to clear his mind. He doesn’t need these kinds of emotions a day before a big game.

--

“We have our game the day after tomorrow. You have the rest of the day to take a rest. Tomorrow we will do an early start for what we have to watch out for the game, afternoon will be your free time, however, it doesn’t mean that you can go out. Sleep. I want all of you in your best condition. I want a favorable result. If you can’t give it to me, forget about returning to the club.”

“Any question?” Ghost asked the team after the Big Boss explained the schedule.

“Mr. Wan,” Miss E raised her hand, “Why can't I play tomorrow with the team?”

“I’m honing you for the world elimination round, and not with the Asian elimination round. The reason why you are here is that I want you to observe how the other players play and perform and help Grand with formulating strategy. It’s your strong point, where Grand is useless.” Mr. Wan threw a dagger look towards Grand direction.

“Big Boss, thank you for making Miss E a part of my team,” he grinned at Mr. Wan as he answered.

“If you don’t have any more questions, return to your respective rooms and take a rest. Let’s meet at the hotel restaurant at seven for dinner.” he glanced at his watch, “Dismiss.”

All of the members stood up almost at the same time, Miss E on the other hand took her time to get out of Mr. Wan’s room. She doesn’t want to join all the rowdy boys in the elevator.

When she thought all of them had already taken the elevator, that was the time she left Mr. Wan’s room and slowly made her way to the elevator. She was surprised to see DT leaning on the wall next to Mr. Wan’s room.

However, she didn’t acknowledge his presence and just walked to the elevator. Before she could push the button of the elevator going down, he pulled him to his room that happened to be in the corner from the elevator.

“What do you want?” she shook his hand off from her arm. But DT didn’t let her wrist go until they were in the privacy of his room. Apparently, he has no roommates like other members who have to share a room with each other.

“Why are you avoiding me?” he asked her with a tight smile.

“And why would it be your problem?” she answered in an equally annoyed tone.

“I don’t see any reason why you need to avoid me,” he said in a flat tone. He narrowed his eyes on her to try to get a read of her expressionless face.

“I also don’t see any reason, why you have to worry about these things when you have to focus on your game,” she answered back in an icy tone.

They stared at each other in the middle of his room. DT’s expression was one of confusion, as she wore her usual uninterested expression.

DT sighed, giving up. He knew for a fact that Miss E won’t back down. And she was right, he needed to focus on the game, not with the raging jealousy he was feeling.

“Sorry,” he heaved another deep breath, “I was out of line.”

DT apologizing in front of her, she felt like they were back to where they were before. When DT would be the first one to always apologize even when it was clearly her fault or the argument they had was something that had no merit. She was just being difficult. He would always apologize and give in to her.

She was unsure of what to do about it. She wondered on her own whether she should be happy that DT was acting like nothing had changed between them.
