The World Still Spins

The following is an extract from the book entitled A World With Magic.

In the past man was afraid of the dark. It wasn't so much the dark itself but what could be hiding in the dark. The unknown has always driven mankind forward in its advancements. The discovery of fire allowed man to light up the darkness. When the spear wasn't enough for food or defense mankind created the bow. Now all this is a generalization of complicated achievements in the history of mankind but the common idea is that when faced with problem mankind found an answer. But what happens when mankind has to deal with something that has been around from the beginning. What happens when we find out that the monster under the bed is there. What happens when legends and myths become known to everyone. When the children of the old Gods are among the children of Adam and Eve. In the year 2035, we all found out that magic was real. Creatures of legend were real and man was not the dominant species as we thought before. So where does that leave us now? How will mankind fair in the coming tide of information? Another common factor in human history is that we destroy what we fear. So much has been lost to small minds of the past. Libraries have been burned and knowledge lost. Do we learn from our mistakes? History repeats itself way too often to say yes. The only time mankind is united is when they have a common enemy. And at first, the supernatural community was seen as an enemy. The years that followed public outing of magic and all things related were a nightmare. The worst of mankind came out and many lost their lives. Years later we can look back and hope that we can unite and learn from our mistakes. As someone that lives in this world, I hope that the future is bright and full of hope. As someone who has studied history, I know this is only the calm before the storm. Please if you are reading this learn from the past. Don't let our children and our children's children suffer from our folly.
